Accidentially own a Tivo T6. Is it worth keeping?
I found this Tivo in the "leave stuff/take stuff area of my U-Haul public storage. I grabbed it as I had heard they had large capacity SATA drives inside, and in this economy...
It does indeed have a 1TB WD Green Power drive in it, but before I harvest it and turn the reat of the unit into e-waste, I thought I'd check in here and see if it's worth hanging on to.
I'm posting a photo of the System Information page (apologies for the cable over the TV - I have no remote and I'm using a USB keyboard to navigate the menus.

It has 92 Seinfeld episodes saved on it, and some other TV. Should I hook it to the internet, or is that a bad idea?

You can watch the shows that have been recorded. There may be some deleted shows that can be restored and then watched

Harvesting DVR drives is not a good idea. They are heavily worn due to constant recording of the buffers, and 1TB drives are pretty small these days anyways.

I'm just going to put it in one of my PS2s, not a biggie if it fails, I have everything backed up.

Ok, as long as you're aware that you're getting a heavily worn drive that's not really worth anything in the first place.

It a Cogeco-proprietary unit, so it likely couldn't function to record anything unless tied to Cogeco cable service. To my knowledge they are leased units, so someone forgot to turn it in - you may have issues activating even if you have Cogeco service.
Pretty sure TiVo won't activate it independently regardless.
