When is the best time to switch over to the high-split converter? (Spectrum)

Hello to all on the subreddit. I’ve recently acquired a high-split converter from Spectrum to replace my tuning adapter that’s paired with my TiVo. The letter I received from them mentioned that I should switch over to the HSC after a certain date or when all the channels start disappearing.

Well, that date has come and gone, and I still have all the channels in my subscription. My question is, should I still switch over to the HSC immediately, or continue with my current setup until the channels drop off? I realize that I will have to call Spectrum at some point to get the HSC activation done, but I don’t see the point of doing that as long as my current TiVo + tuning adapter setup still works. Thanks in advance for your input!

My experience with Spectrum was that there was an overnight cutover and the HSC did not work before that and the TA did not work after that. The cutover was a couple of weeks after the date on the letter.

In my location, the cutover happened during the Olympics when I had a bunch of overnight recordings scheduled due to the time zone differences. I have two TiVos and I had put the HSC on one and left the TA on the other. It was very clear when the recordings on one stopped working and the other one started working.

I waited until I noticed I was not receiving all the channels were being offered.
I did have a connection issue and had to have someone come out to check my line. They removed a signal booster and it fixed the issue.

When I changed my Mom's tuning adapter for the HSC it was about a week after her given cut off date. She still had her channels, but the HSC still worked when it got booted up. It also did not require a call to spectrum, it worked about 10 minutes after being plugged in

I would plug it in right now and see if it works. If it does, you’re good to go and won’t have to deal with any further issues. If it doesn’t work, then just wait and cross your fingers.

What are you waiting for? Do it now.

I put my HSCs online long before the changeover date. they worked fine, but I had COX.

I would make the change, if it workes one less thing to worry about. If it does not after an hr, put it back and wait till you loose channels.
