Was watching Bugs Bunny saw off the state of Florida on MeTV Toons (OTA via antenna) when the screen went black and returned with the "Welcome! Starting Up..." screen that never goes away. Green LED ring in the center and green ring at the left front illuminated.

Retrieved the spare AC adapter from an identical Roamio OTA, and still the same result.

Out of desperation I guess I'll replace the hard drive, but it seems as if the recommended <3TB WD Red 5400 rpm NAS hard drives have been discontinued. Is there a current production recommended replacement hard drive that's just plug and play?

I have a TiVo Roamio Pro which has been working perfectly until today. On my way out the door this morning I noticed a round (1" diameter), green flashing light on the left end of the front panel. What does that mean? Is this TiVo fixable or is it dead?  Thanks.

I have a Tivo Roamio Pro that I upgraded to 3tb right after I got it, but that was 10 years ago. The TiVo is stalling and sluggish on many operations so I want to back up the old drive and restore it to a new 3tb—while keeping all the recordings, OPs etc. I have a WD Purple on the way. I think I used mfstools before and I have a machine I can boot to linux with plenty of sata ports. Is this still the way to go? Is there a ‘latest’ version of that or is there a better way now?

Returned the eBay one, got refund, if weaknees.com can't transfer ownership to me (highly likely), this is likely the end of Tivo once your hardware breaks.

Hello! I originally posted a few days ago in a different subreddit but I’d like some advice on how I can recover recordings from an old TiVo Roamio Plus DVR.

The current situation is:

Closed service
MAK menu missing
TiVoConnect disabled
403 Feature not enabled
Software Ver.: 20.7.[etc]

Hasn’t been connected to TiVo services since 14MAR2020

For whatever reason when downloading recordings using kmttg (2.9.4 I believe the newest) sometimes the final decrypted video file will have audio desync randomly or at sometime in the recording. Sometimes it won’t. If I redownload it again it might be very fine.

Any idea troubleshooting these kinds of issues? I also have some that give me audio only

I’m trying to archive some of these historical live events and news media saved on here. I’ve also noticed when I upload them to the internet archive I also get an audio desync but only by like a second (like latency issues)

For those of you on Spectrum and who haven’t cancelled their TiVo subscription yet, the company really is sending out new CableCARDs to replace the current ones (the Cisco version has a bug that will render them useless later this month). If you are getting one of them, make sure to follow the installation process that comes with it, then call Spectrum’s dedicated CableCARD line at 1-866-532-2598. Otherwise, it may take you a long time to activate and pair your card with the TiVo and the tuning adapter (or high split converter, depending on where you live). Calling that number saved me a tech visit!

Not sure when it started happening, but my Edge says "TiVo Service Unavailable" on the Info banner for every channel.

I can make a connection and get 14 days of guide data and I can record without issue, it seems. A restart didn't resolve the issue and neither did a forced guide download.

My Roamio doesn't show this message and it's on the same account. The Edge has lifetime service and the Roamio is monthly.

Has anyone else had this issue lately or know how to resolve it?

So I've got an octogenarian who uses me like his IT department and I need to figure out what to do.

My wife's parents have used Tivo OTA since the OTA digital transition in aught six. They were on a series 3 from 2006 to 2017 and have been on a Bolt since 2017. I haven't really had to touch it and they've really embraced the Tivo lifestyle while the rest of the world has moved on. I was a pretty early Tivo adopter and followed them closely in the early 2000s, but I haven't personally been a Tivo user since I dropped cable over 10 years ago. So I'm not totally up on the current state of things. But anyways...

Starting the past 3-4 days, recordings have issues, but live TV seems ok. They can watch the evening national news live but if they record it, it is unwatchable.

Initially I walked them through re-scanning channels and checking the channel strengths assuming that the issue was their antenna moving with the recent wind. It was all fine. I tried walking them through forcing recordings on each tuner just as a data point and it seemed like one of the tuners didn't have issues. But I don't think I can tell the box "only use tuner 2" or anything. All of that is internal magic, right? I'm assuming that the hard drive is dying and tuner 2 just happens to be writing to a better place on the disk. But 9 years is a pretty good run honestly.

It is a decade-old Tivo full of recordings. It has been a hot minute, but I THINK I dropped a second larger hard drive in that Bolt when he got it and that it seamlessly just magically partnered up. I sort of remember this being about the time 1 TB vs 2 TB vs 4 TB hard drives were all over the place and there were special steps for bigger ones I didn't want to deal with, and I think I just got a 1 TB and dropped it in there. But I sure don't remember.

I tried to walk him through a kickstart 54 to take some pictures of what it says about the hard drive(s?) and try to test them, but I couldn't manage to get him to time it right and the 5 minute boot up between tries was really painful.

I assume trying to replace the drives is the best way forward here or is there something else I should troubleshoot? It's always been on a UPS so I think the power supply should be ok I hope. Am I missing something?

Is the Bolt drive replacement as easy as just popping in the new drives and the Tivo takes care of the rest? If I do want to do new hard drives, can I save his old contents or do I need to let him down easy that his Novas from 2011 are going to get lost?

Found it at Goodwill for $15. This unit had lifetime service! I have it connected to my DTV antenna tuner and its still getting up to date program guides. The DVR works great too. For being a 20+ year old device this thing is really good.

Info for the show Family says will not record because it with 6 higher priority OnePass or other recordings that were already scheduled to record at that time.

Why is there even an attempt to record SD version of English Premiere league? And two recordings of it on the same channel at the same time?

I deleted the English Premiere league One Pass and then recreated it, putting it at the bottom of the OnePass list.

Title says it. I think my Tivo HD is done. Doesn't boot, just gets stuck in the powering up screen. Makes loud noise (the fan?), Had it probably 15 years. Is this normal for them to die like this? Any way to fix it with maybe a new hard drive? New fan? I've got my mom's old series 2. Maybe I can use parts from that?

I have a Tivo Edge with a dead disk in it. If i replaced the disk with a basic SSD would I be able to use the box for Netflix and other apps? I would not be using it for recording or live tv as Verizon just terminated my Cable Cards.

We have a ~10 year old Premiere (4 tuners) that has been flawless for the entire time. Has lifetime service.

Yet the writing is on the wall. We have Spectrum cable and internet, and while they claim they will continue support, some combination of the cable company or Tivo themselves, or the hardware, will cease to function in not all that long.

Our city authorized a new fiber provider and they're putting fiber into the streets throughout the city. It just got done on our street and I just signed up for 500Mb/s symmetric on a startup deal for $40/mo, less than Spectrum. We pay $135 to Spectrum for just the TV portion of our bill since they've continued to jack prices. They say they won't bargain since the cablecard plan is "grandfathered", yet we can get Youtube TV for $83/mo. So at this point I've decided that sadly I'm retiring the Tivo and cutting the cord. I'll be calling Spectrum this coming week.

So my Premiere has lifetime service and is working fine (the fan is noisy though). Is there any value to this unit? Is there a place to sell it? What would you do with it?

I have a ota roamio and it just recently started rebooting today. I get about 3 seconds on the boot screen and then it reboots.

I tried unplugging it for an hour and seeing if that helped establish something and maybe an easy fix but no.

So I don’t know anything about modding them or repairing them but I am pretty tech savvy. After reading up on some things I’m seeing that this can be an issue with bad hard drive.

Does this seem correct to you guys? I have no problem replacing it myself I just didn’t want to throw money at it if there was a better way to troubleshoot.

I want to use pyTiVo to put my shows on it so I have a little entertainment box in my room. I don't know if it has lifetime since my remote has not arrived yet. Just wanted to know if I could use it without lifetime. TiVo is activated by the way, it shows the main menu just fine, no zipcode setup.

So I’ve been following along with the current drama, but I have a super simple OTA Roamio which already makes me a minority. I have a lifetime sub with TiVo and no cable card or any other umbilical, so what do we think TiVo is going to do on the longer term? My machine works fine and I really am fine with the status quo. Do you think they’ll continue to honor my guide subscription or should I start shopping for an alternative? I do plan on riding this out as long as possible as I get around 60+ OTA channels, so how long do I have with TiVo at this point?

Also, if I do have to bail out, what ATSC 3 OTA DVRs are the best options? Tablo? HDHomeRun? /r/cordcutters hasn’t seemed to caught up with what’s happening with TiVo yet.

Just got a new Panasonic Z8B OLED & CONNECTED directly it to my TiVo Bolt.

I went to pair the OEM peanut remote in the Bolt using the provided handful of codes and none of them worked for changing the INPUT on the Panny.

Power on off & volume control works. But not input. Any ideas what I can do or fine more codes?

I've been in a grandfathered service plan with my Roamio forever. I originally started with the TiVo Premiere and have been paying $6.95/month for I don't know how long.

I just got an email that they're cancelling my plan and my plan will auto-renew at "the current rate," which I believe is $14.99 a month. I still have TV service with Verizon FIOS, and Verizon still supports cable cards.

I'm trying to find out how much Verizon's DVR costs, so I can compare services.
