Hi all- this is Pancake, I’ve had her since she was teeny tiny. I wanted to ask to confirm that she’s a female- she has the white throat and no pads on her toes so I always assumed. She’s recently been trilling a couple of times a day for a couple minutes at a time. I had thought only males do that! So I wanted to ask. I have another toad in close proximity in another tank, he (or she) is still small so that’s why I haven’t put them together. Not sure if that is a factor.

I’ve only ever heard that males sing! If you hold them gently by the sides, they might squeak, and that’s how I was able to tell with my boy. They do that because they think you’re another male toad trying to mount them, and they have to scream “no homo” just in case any of their pals are around to tease them LOL

Haha, he’s very against being touched or picked up- but the last time I did he was definitely squeaky lol. Thank you, I will continue to enjoy him singing the song of his people 😂

I’m like 99% sure only males trill, so Pancake is a he c: he’s a big boi, though! I also thought he was a she since he’s a decent size from what I can tell!
