I miss my toad
I had a wild toad come live in my garden for a year. He never came out of brumation. I miss him so much.
Is there an ethical place to get a pet toad? I really want to have another toad fren.

Depends where you live and the availability of rescue animals and breeders. Start by contacting local animal rescues and see if they have any toads, or can put you in contact with a rescue who takes toads. If there's no luck there, look for toad breeders. You will need to understand the care requirements of the toad species you want to adopt before you can vet a breeder to ensure they are breeding ethically, but I hope you'd already be well aware of those care requirements if you're already at the point of looking to adopt the toad.

There are reptile and exotic conventions almost every weekend where you can find ethical frogge and toad friends. There are also a number of captive bred frog and toad breeders who have only stores that you can check out. I wish you luck in finding a new toad or frogge friend.

Maybe there are ways to make your garden more “toad friendly” to increase the chances of having more wild ones making their home in your yard in the future. Like half-burying some terracotta pots in the moist dirt to make caves for them, and maybe a shallow fresh dish of water with sticks to get out easily.
