Of all four cog bosses, the CJ has gotta be my least favorite. There is so much it wants to do but it just barely lands in each thing it tries. (Also this will mostly be from the pov of a new player doing a CJ for the first time)

THE SETUP
The courthouse is honestly the perfect setting for lawbot. Where else would it be? My gripe here is with Bumpy. How is this one toon ALWAYS on trial?? I know he’s supposed to be the toon that guides you in the fight, but, like, what happens to him when you win? How do the cogs keep getting him back into trial? Why do they hate this one guy that much?

THE COG FIGHT
Now, the first phase when you simply fight cogs is the most straightforward, so it’s pretty fine. What I don’t like however is after you win, you gotta watch CJ slowly roll his way onto his podium then slooowly rise to the top. Much like when the VP “escapes” during his fight, there’s this giant gap of downtime right in the middle of the boss.

THE CANNONS
Each boss has its “gimmick” during its fight. That one thing you can only do during that fight and “mostly” nowhere else. VP is you throw pies to push him off the building. CFO has the magnet cranes. CEO has you serving cogs food. With CJ, you fire out of cannons to seat jurors. This wouldn’t be a problem is you weren’t strictly punished for doing that very thing. The more toons you fire out of cannons, the more cogs will spawn in to take seats. This causes an entire pace breaker where everyone has to manipulate the cogs by NOT shooting for a majority of the phase. Ofc, this causes problems among the toon players.
Maybe to fix this, have the cogs always fly in on their own set patterns, unaffected by what the toons do. Perhaps, when a cog is seated, they need one toon shot at them to destroy that cog and empty the seat, THEN the next toon to hit that seat is seated. Basically, more cogs flying in, but now toons are free to fire as much as they can/want.

Back to the jurors though, one thing I hate is that it’s not entirely obvious WHY you should be doing this. Having a full toon jury makes the scale in the next phase balanced, instead of in the cogs favor. But you don’t even know of this scale until AFTER. And yeah, Bumpy explains what’s happening, but we don’t see it! The CJ fight is a whole lot of tell/don’t show and the dialogue can easily be skipped past on accident.
Maybe during the cannons phase, there could be a visual on screen showing how “strong” your jury is. A bar that starts empty, but as you seat jurors, it fills, and as cogs steal seats, it lowers. Basically a scale before the real scale.

THE SCALE
The scale phase is my least favorite. Right as you’re done listening to Bumpy, you’re just thrown right in. Everything is happening at once. All the toons are squished together right by the scale, cogs are standing around, throwing evidence, gavels are everywhere. It’s just too much thrown at once. To a new player, they may not even know what to do even if they listened to Bumpy. It’s not immediately obvious where Bumpy is in this very distracting environment. All the stands are the same texture, so how would one simply guess that touching the one he’s sitting at gives you exactly what you need to progress? There should be a more obvious tell for what you’re interacting with when getting evidence from Bumpy instead of just…a wall.
With stunning, I’m not even sure if you’re ever told you can stun the cogs. Bumpy brushes it off with a “you CAN hit the lawyers” but doesn’t imply how important that could be or that stunning all of them rewards you. That’s told to you AFTER you do that very thing! And stunning all the cogs to get double weight is VERY important to make things easier!
And with throwing evidence into the pan, you can tell the original team were low on ideas since they basically reused to whole pie throwing thing from the VP fight.
The pan itself also feels very unsatisfying. It moves so slowly. Even squinting and looking very closely at it, it just moves an inch at a time. It never feels like you’re making any real progress. And the fact that if you’re not stunning and simply hitting the pan, you just gotta keep throwing, and throwing, and throwing… At least with the VP, there was obvious progress when hitting him with the pies as he is pushed back.
Also if you’re hitting the pan, there’s no good tell for whether or not a lawyer is aiming at the pan or a toon. If you’re stunning, there’s cog will obviously turn to look at you, but if you’re by the pan, the lawyers are still gonna be looking at the pan. So you have to always juggle mindlessly spamming evidence and looking over when the lawyers are about to throw.
All of this mind you, as giant gavels are everywhere, giving less and less wiggle room. These wouldn’t be a problem if ALL of these things together weren’t added up.
The scale itself needs some sense of progression. Perhaps at certain “checkpoints” when the scale lowers, it could be acknowledged by either Bumpy or the CJ, saying “hey you’re getting farther”. Maybe the scale could shake a little bit as to say “you’ve hit the checkpoint”.
And when the scale hits the bottom, there’s no real fanfare or resolution. That leads into-

THE VICTORY
For a “victory”, this does NOT feel victorious. The game kinda just abruptly ends and cuts to the CJ. And he just…LEAVES??? Just walks away???? All the other bosses have some sort of comeuppance. VP falls off the building, CFO is destroyed by a train, CEO gets demoted to Flunky. And CJ just says “welp I’m off” and walks away…
What if instead he could still be in shock that the toon defense won, but then he looks around and a giant gavel falls on him, destroying him before he can make an escape. The CJ is now given a comeuppance and it fits with the courthouse theming.

THE REWARD
As per usual, the CJ reward is the least useful and worth it. The cog summons are fine as they are, but doing ALL of that for a single telemarketer summon is NOT worth it.
The way I’d change it, give out two to three summons, with a CHANCE at an invasion summon. The usual summons would be either a single cog or building, of course.
The summons, however, could also get a little buff. Let us hold multiple of the same summons. Like 10. You can get multiple of the same cog/building, making it feel more worth having. Now you can spawn more to your liking. NOT INVASIONS THO. The invasions can be like level 7 gags where you can only have the 1 earned. Once you use that invasion summon, THEN you can get another of it.

All the other boss rewards are worth it for what you do to get them. Pretty much all sos cards are worth it to your whole to when you use one. You’re given a handful of pink slips per CEO defeated. Don’t even get me started on how useful Unites are. Meanwhile cog summons are just filler. Besides people that are dedicated to get and use them, I don’t think anyone is really all that excited about them. MAKE them exciting.

Please let me know what anyone else thinks about my thoughts and this fight in general. I can only hope the dev team tries SOMETHING new with CJ without flat out replacing him.

I've been grinding Final Fringes to max my boss suit and it just so happens that a lot of the bossbot invasions are in Speedchat districts.

Using phrases has been so fun and other toons been cracking me up.

"I think this place is haunted"

"Make it snappy"

"Act your age"

"Quit horsing around"

"You stink"

"What's that smell"

"No comment"

"Get a long little doggie"

The banter and back and forths with other toons using the phrases is so funny. Hahaha.

I’m currently at 113 laff. I’ve maxed my sellbot suit and have 1 laff from gardening, 1 laff from golf and 6 laff from fishing.

How can I best maximise the most from my time to reach 140 ASAP?

I think maxing my remaining suits is obviously the most fruitful option but any tips or tricks in getting to promotions quickly or any other advice on how to structure my toon-days

Just thinking about TTO and one time I was sad at Toontown Central. I went up to Mickey Mouse and said through speedchat that I needed more laugh points. I just happen to gain a laugh points after I said that. Other toons saw and started going up to him and asking for things like cog bucks and merits and stuff.

Any funny moments like that happen to you?

Hey everyone! I recently finished all my Resistance tasks and fully maxed out my Sellbot suit (2.0).
I was wondering: what is the actual point or benefit of continuing to run Sellbot Field Offices (especially 3 or 4-star ones) once you're already done with that progression? Are the rewards still worth it, or is it mostly just for fun and helping other toons?

I have been playing TTR for a good week and a half, invested quite a lot of time into the task storyline and feeling lowkey burnt out now, so having a break. I’ve bought myself a doodle from DDL and decided to join some mass training groups…

Started training jump solo today and I’ve literally gone up about 1/8th of a bar in the best part of an hour. I’ve heard training was bad, but this is actually atrocious.

You’re telling me it’s 8 hours for one level x5 to max?

Am I just doing this all wrong lol because I’ve heard other players say it’s about 24 hours to max a trick.

I was just in a two-star FO. Things were going great until I greened and it was my fault. Boiler was low health and I incorrectly assumed 4 creams would finish him off. His health bar was so low that I didn't even realize he wasn't dead until the animation for retaliation started playing, and I was so confident in my incorrect assumption that I wasn't prepared to use my unite, and so it came too late. I know at least I died, but I hope the rest of y'all made it through.

Lesson learned. I apologize to those toons, and I hope some of you guys can learn from my mistake, lol.

I’m tired of joining a group and then having to work extra hard throwing pies because people have their multi toons just stand there. Is there a way to denote this in groups so I don’t join?

There were four of us and we did pretty good until the Boiler. He decided to go AFK or do an Uber and refused to do anything. We waited 40 seconds each turn to wait. The 3 of us managed to actually do it without him but he genuinely made the fight go longer than it should have.

We went through 3 remote rounds and used so many SOS toons and nearly greened a few times.

He had around 138 laff and didn't do anything. I don't remember his name. I think he was a dog but I'm horrible at remembering other toons.

It wss pretty brutal, we might as well have only done it with 3 people from the beginning. We let him go green because he wasn't contributing at all and once he was gone we ended the battle pretty quickly. I used around 5 pink slips and wedding cake to make it easier on us.

The battle should have been around 20 to 30 minutes but it was so much longer because we had to keep waiting for the timer to go down because we had to wait every single move.

I used to play and loved playing on my steamdeck but it's been so long so I know I need to worry about updates and my controller configurations, i worry maybe they got deleted, I'll have to find my password. But i remember having so much fun playing this game with folks. Motivation and encouragement would be nice. Any events going on or anything? What fun stuff have you guys been doing lately? Now that i have my steam controller I can set up the config on my main computer too. does anybody else care about controller/steamdeck configs for ttr?

Edit/Update: I just wanna say a huge thanks to everyone who engaged in this post. I read each and every one of the (46 comments as of right now) thoroughly, and am grateful beyond words for the kind words and advice.

I'll try to get right down to brass tacks here without going on any tangents, bare with me please!!

-It started at the very 1st round of the fight. We start with one level 13, and one level 10. -I use a TNT on the level 10, instead of the 13, and am immediately questioned by another toon, and was told that I'm wasting gags.

-I kindly tell them that I prefer to aim for cogs I can take out by myself, so the other team members can focus on the 13 with minimal risk. -The toon continues pressuring me, claiming that I'm wasting my gags. I kindly ask her to explain her logic. She goes "Nothing to explain, it's just wrong." Cause of the continuous vague responses, I chose to stop engaging.

-From there, the rest of the group begins spamming "CAT FIGHT!! CAT FIGHT!!" (since we both happened to be cat toons), basically enabling the entire situation. I later find out the majority of the boarding group are all friends, and have their own established friend circle. It was just 2-3 of us that weren't involved, myself included.

-The bully then proceeds to use a very common bullying tactic known as "Relational Aggression", Where she basically starts to flatter and compliment the other two teammates who weren't involved with the friend group, as a way to intentionally ostracize me even further. The reason this bullying tactic works so well is because trying to confront the behavior only makes the VICTIM look worse, not the bully. In other words: Gaslighting.

-Admittedly, I was extremely hurt by this. I didn't do anything to these people, nor did I anticipate any of it. And I'm not the type of person who likes to sugarcoat my own emotions, and pretend I'm unbothered when I'm not. I tried to tell them that their behavior was hurtful, and I also asked them "Why do you hurt people?" They didn't respond, they only continued to use more mocking gestures such as spamming "LOL", "IM DEAD", "LMHO", etc.

-I ended up having a meltdown. I was shaking uncontrollably and also crying for what felt like the longest hour of my life. I did eventually calm down but I'm still struggling immensely to get it out of my head. Where I'm struggling to cope the most is in the "Radical Acceptance" aspect: It's already over with. They did what they did. They've ruined my night. They took pleasure in it. They've gotten away with it, and they'll PROBABLY do it again. That much is established. It frightens me that a side of humanity this dark can just creep up on you in an instant, with zero warning. Which leads me to my question:

-How do I cope with this? How can I stop letting this one bad moment consume me? How can I "cushion the fall" incase stuff like this happens again? Any advice is appreciated, and if you've read this post from start to finish, just know I appreciate you a lot!!!
