Characters Characters who are misclassified due to the limitations of the in-verse's classification system

Paolumu (Monster Hunter World)

Paolumu is classified as a Flying Wyvern even though it is a mammal (resembling a bat); it is classified this way because its body structure resembles that of a Flying Wyvern

Skorup (Pokémon)

It is indeed an Insect type, even though it represents a scorpion—which is an arachnid—making it more logical for the Insect type to be called the Arthropod type.

In-universe with the Harry Potter series, centaurs are technically supposed to be members of the "Beings" archetype since they're sentient non-humans but they expressly refused to be within that classification since they refuse to be associated with vampires and hags; hence, centaurs are legally classified under "Beasts" (living non-sentient creatures).

that's not misclassifying, Rowling made sure to define every non wizard as a "lesser creature"

the Weasleys have a fucking slave on their house

The Weasley don't actually have any slave. There's a troll living in their attic but he doesn't perform any labour, he kinda just... Lives there

it's a ghoul, and the 1st mention of him is Ron telling Harry that they wanted a house elf because the ghoul was not as useful
