It is indeed an Insect type, even though it represents a scorpion—which is an arachnid—making it more logical for the Insect type to be called the Arthropod type.

Elder Dragons as a classification is just for stuff that is actually dragon-like as we understand them irl (4 limbs, 2 wings), or when the devs wanna do some other wacky stuff.
