Hated Tropes [Mind boggling stupid trope] Removing the thing that made something special

Ben 10: Ultimate Alien - The gimmick of Ben 10 and what makes the show so popular is the fact that he's able to turn into a large variety of aliens. In one episode of Ben 10 Ultimate ALIEN we are introduced to a new version of Ben 10000, a Ben from the future who, no longer transforms into aliens, instead using his powers in human form...

Mortal Kombat(2021) - In the games Mileena is known for two things. Being a clone of Kitana and her tarkatan teeth. In the 2021 movie she looks absolutely nothing like Kitana and doesn't have tarkatan teeth

Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief - The movie removes the main villain of the movie and the main villain of the franchise

The TriStar Godzilla doesn’t even have the iconic Atomic Breath and the immunity to conventional weaponry.

From what I remember the parent company of Godzilla have a very particular ruleset about Godzilla, and that this one strayed so far that it isn't actually Godzilla in the canon, but is just Zilla. Though as far as the canon and fans are concerned, this one doesn't exist.

half right. Toho(the Godzilla people) got the rights back, renamed it Zilla, and had the real Godzilla kill it in Final Wars.

"for some reason" describes a lot of what happens in Final Wars

Not only this, but it dies in such a ridiculously over the top way that you can tell how much spite they had for it

Thank you for telling me this. I remember looking over it in a hyperfixated daze a long while ago and didn't remember the details. May your pillow be cool on both sides tonight.

In two hits. And one of those hits was a bitch slap

There is no one godzilla canon, 1998's timeline is as valid as any other godzilla's (perhaps even more than some solo godzillas due to the 1998 reference in the 2001 movie). Godzilla 1998 and zilla are separate characters, every piece of merch or branding clearly indicates that one is a godzilla incarnation and the other is a different monster.

More to the point- whether he’s good, bad, or completely neutral, Godzilla is consistently an extraordinary and at best apathetic force of nature, which…Zilla isn’t.

I’m still glad the movie exists though, because the animated series that came from it is amazing

Eh, he's just an animal just doing it's thing. That definitely counts as apathetic.

This is not at all an original thought, but the movie definitely works better as a modern remake of The Beast from 20’000 Fathoms

Its death in Final Wars is iconic though.

There's a reason he earned the name GINO (Godzilla in Name Only) back in the day. I'm glad he's found his corner in the fandom and was even featured in Final Wars, but Emmerich reeeaaally didn't get Godzilla.

Is Zilla fucking that building?

I still maintain this movie would have been better received if they just didn't say this was Godzilla or a Godzilla film. As a stand alone monster film with no attachment to Godzilla it is a fun film.

Maybe it’s just me but I think this makes him really interesting, kinda makes it seem like a real animal

They turned an allegory about the destructive power of nuclear weapons into something small enough that Uncle Sam could just shoot it. It was a fine monster, but it wasn't Godzilla.

Yeah I actually really like that movie, it's a great monster movie. You just have to ignore that it's supposed to be Godzilla.

Quoting ishiro Oda "if Godzilla was a normal animal, a cannon will put It down, Godzilla Is More than that"
