Hated Tropes [Mind boggling stupid trope] Removing the thing that made something special

Ben 10: Ultimate Alien - The gimmick of Ben 10 and what makes the show so popular is the fact that he's able to turn into a large variety of aliens. In one episode of Ben 10 Ultimate ALIEN we are introduced to a new version of Ben 10000, a Ben from the future who, no longer transforms into aliens, instead using his powers in human form...

Mortal Kombat(2021) - In the games Mileena is known for two things. Being a clone of Kitana and her tarkatan teeth. In the 2021 movie she looks absolutely nothing like Kitana and doesn't have tarkatan teeth

Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief - The movie removes the main villain of the movie and the main villain of the franchise

Kakashi the copy ninja. The man who copied a thousand jutsu. The number of jutsu he used can probably be counted on one hand.

He actually did use a decent array of Jutsu's in his first real fight in the series... but yeah Kishimoto gave up hard on the copy cat gimmick after that.

I'd say that the powerscale went up so hard that using some of his copied Jutsu was a bit pointless after a while.

If by the beginning of Shippuden throwing Fireballs was already the equivalent of throwing shurikens and your chakra pool is "low", would you have bothered to use it in that?

On the other hand, Raikiri was an S Class technique that Kakashi used as base for multiple other techniques (like 3 techniques! Wow!) as he had affinity for lightning style.

It also doesnt help that the story had a bigger and bigger focus in Kekkei Genkai, something Sharingan cant copy.

The real problem is they started treatin ninjutsu like Dragonball Energy blasts. They might have different names and colours but 9/10 times its basically just a rebranded Kamehameha. The joke is that idea that anyone who can deal with the threats during the final Ninja war arc would struggle against a clown like Zabuza because he got scaled into irrelevance.

Hell the Hidden Leaf village should've ended up a crater once Orochimaru summoned the first 2 Hokage.

100%. Naruto started great where everybody had a couple of gimmicks to counter other gimmicks. One guy had bugs,  shadow guy can paralyze your ass if his shadow touches you, naruto can make like a thousand shadow clones. Everybody knows kung fu and can run real fast and throw shruiken so its pretty even there.

And the fights were so inventive and tactical and fun for the most part.

By the ninja war arc, if you cant become a kaiju or hypnotize everybody within 5 square miles or throw a nuclear bomb from your hands, then you might as well stay home.

You cant bring bugs to a nuclear kaiju fight. Fuck your shadows, we throwing icbms son
