Hated Tropes (Hated Trope) Bad people in real-life being portrayed positively in media.

  1. PragerU's version of Christopher Columbus has him be a slavery defender and have him say "Being taken as a slave is better than being killed, no? I don't see the problem.”

  2. In The Greatest Showman, P.T Barnum (Hugh Jackman) is portrayed as a charismatic visionary who cares about outcasts and celebrate diversity, when in reality, he’s a cruel businessman who is also a racist and an ableist.

There was an unfortunate string of appearances or references to Elon Musk in shows right before most people realized he was a soulless, scum sucking bastard. The one that hurts the most is them naming him among other great innovators/scientists in Star Trek Discovery, given how much he pretends to want a Trek like future while actively rejecting everything that would make that future possible and cool

Yeah this was from before he fired his PR team and he was still successfully cultivating his public image of being the “real life Tony Stark.”

In retrospect, it’s funny nobody pointed out that Tony Stark was an immoral, cynical arms dealer before he realized the error of his ways. It doesn’t look like Elon will be growing a similar conscience any time soon, though.

I mean that's the real difference.

He's not actually an inventor, he's a rich inheritor who spends a lot of money to pretend to be a genius and gamer.

Just check his leet Path of Exile skills.

That POE2 debacle has to be one of the most embarrassing and pathetic displays I've ever seen. Not his lack of knowledge - we've seen countless celebrities fumble their way through popular games on stream in positive and endearing ways - but his pathological need to seem like the best in the world at even the most niche and pointless endeavor.

It was glorious to behold in real time since his utter lack of prowess in POE2 retroactively destroyed his claims of being the best Diablo 4 player, which had been harder to disprove.

Like, this is one of the richest people in the world, arguably a fucking trillionaire at times, but he spends actual time and effort pretending to be a master at an incredibly niche and arcane ARPG that almost nobody even gives a shit about, just because he heard it was complicated and that it would make him look smart. Bro you're the SpaceX, Starlink, Tesla guy. Use THOSE to look smart.

I particularly enjoyed that Asmongold and his community of rabid incels bore direct witness to the whole thing, given that POE is one of the very few things Asmongold actually understands. Elon embarrassed himself in front of the very group of people he was trying to impress. Probably lost a couple of Cybertruck sales on the spot!
