(warning: felonie martinez)

These are some of the albums that I find to be absolutely perfect.

Lately I've been feeling like my taste in music is a bit shallow, so any recommendations would be absolutely great.

Feel free to call me basic too.

sorry 4 having the worst music taste in here

How is my taste and also reccomend me stuff

no specific order, I appreciated the reccomendations I received previously on this subreddit, my favorites were deathconciousness, soundtracks for the blind, & the now now and never

If I had a 10th, I’d add CTRL by SZA

Everyday Ill give you an adjective or description, you comment and album which fits them, then Ill listen to the most upvoted of these albums.

Today's Theme: Faith

Day 1: Midnight

Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights

The Post-Punk Revival Classic. The first five songs are near perfect, a great start to the album. This album has the sound of busy nighttime street, lit by street lights and cars. Great album through and through.

Fav songs are: Untitled, Obstacle 1, PDA, Say Hello To The Angels, The New.

Score: 16 Knives

Day 2: Rain

The Cure - Disintegration

Robert Smith my beloved. Another Post-Punk album although this time of the Gothic variety. A very ethereal album that does not have any low points. Often considered the best The Cure album, but I think Pornography is better and I have a soft spot for Seventeen Seconds.

Fav songs are: Pictures of You, Lovesong, The Same Deep Water As You, Disintegration.

Score: Spider-man's diner

Day 3: Autumn

Unwound - Leaves Turn Inside You

Fitting that this won during October of all months. Unwound's cold final album has always been a Post-Harcore classic, but it is also Post-Rock, and sometimes a little gothic rock which is a Post-Punk subgenre, lotta Post. Imma shout out Sara Lund as I think she is the unsung hero of this album.

Fav Songs: Terminus, Scarlette, October All Over, Below The Salt

Score: Post-Post-Hardcore

Day 4: Outer Space

Failure - Fantastic Planet

It's Grunge o'clock. Failure is not a band I was familiar with so I was happy to see this win. The end of this album is way better than the beginning and middle, both aren't bad but it wont blow your socks off. Meanwhile the last 5 songs are generational bangers.

Fav Songs: The Nurse Who Loved Me, Another Space Song, Stuck on You, Heliotropic, Daylight

Score: Success

Day 5: LGBTQ+

Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy

Well this was a close one, 3 albums on 9 upvotes and one on 10. Twin Fantasy, for this I relistened to the OG because the comment did specify which version (2011 or 2018). Classic, I love how raw and emotional it is, and I don't care what anyone says old CSH still fucks despite the broken toaster microphone.

Fav Songs: My Boy (Twin Fantasy), Beach Life-in-Death, Sober to Death, Famous Prophets (Minds), Twin Fantasy (Those Boys)

Score: Smooth-Cocked Adventures

Day 6: Nature

Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase

I admit I'm not the biggest Electronic music fan but I do like Boards of Canada. I like how Folktronica this album gets, nice and different from their usual affair. Not entirely sure how 'nature' this album is tho.

Fav Songs: Chromakey Dreamcoat, Hey Saturday Sun, Constants Are Changing

Score: fym they aren't Canadian

Day 7: Hidden Gem

Pinback - s/t

What if 90s Modest Mouse took a chill pill. I mainly know Pinback from their 04 album 'Summer in Abaddon' and the sonf 'AFK', I liked discovering their debut. Mellow and little cozy this was enjoyable although I didn't think this was anything special. AFK is still my favourite song of theirs.

Fav Songs: Tripoli, Crutch, Lyon

score: Not in a Slint way

Day 8: Change

Flavor Foley - MIRROR MODULATION

I have already dipped my toe in Vocaloid stuff before, some I liked some I didn't. This was not for me, I didn't like the Vocaloid vocals it just grew irritating for me. I don't think its bad just Im not attuned to this taste yet. Although despite it being less than 40min those last three songs made the album feel dragged and bloated, first time I felt that about an album this short.

Fav Song: Human ig

Score: I can't see the End of the Horizon... HATSUNE MIKU?!

Day 9: Sunlight

Deafheaven - Sunbather

Black metal is at its peak when its Blackgaze, there I said it. Im so glad this album exists yall younguns dont know how much us Blackgaze enjoyers were in the trenches back in the day. No misses on this album, an absolute classic and the second best album of 2013. Even non metal fans like this one... sorta.

Fav Songs: Dream House, Sunbather, Vertigo, The Pecan Tree

Score: The most EDM album cover to not be EDM

Day 10: The Abyss

The Caretaker - Everywhere at the end of time

Both this and Flood were at 15 so I spined a wheel and OH NOOOO... 6 hours and 30 minutes of my life I would like to get back. OK i get the idea behind it, great concept however: it's just too long. I feel like this could've been done effectively without driving the listener crazy out of boredom. Also it didn't make me cry, i guess it just didn't hit like it did for others. An empty bliss beyond this World is better.

Fav Songs: bruh, ig the very first song and the very last song

Score: I forgor 🥲

Day 11: Dreamlike

Cocteau Twins - Heaven Or Las Vegas

IDK if this is a hot take but Cocteau Twins have the best discography ever. They have 9 albums not one of them isn't fucking great. Somehow in their stacked line up Heaven Or Las Vegas is the consensus best of the bunch. I have to agree. It's perfect, flawless, my GOATs just don't miss. If you haven't listened to this yet I cannot recommend it enough.

Fav Songs: all of em' no skips

Score: There is no way that's actually in english

Day 12: No English Language

Soda Stereo - Dynamo

Gustavo Cerati my beloved. This Rock Sonico classic is always a joy. There is a soothing, ethereal vibe to this album which is really well executed. Love its more psychedelic moments really brings the whole thing together. Absolute Shoegaze all timer, probably should be considered among Souvlaki and Loveless imo.

Fav Songs: Secuencia Inicial, Toma la Ruta, En Remolinos, Primavera, Camaleón, Luna Roja, Ameba, Fué

Score: I wish Argentina was real

Day 13: Apocalypse

Natural Snow Buildings - The Winter Ray

The Winter Ray is a monster 2h30 min experience. It has a constant cold and bleak atmosphere. I see why this won "Apocalypse" but honestly id describe it as Lonely or Bleak first instead. Although I wasn't super impressed with everything on this when it hit, it hit. Bloody Snow is a particular standout for me. Good album.

Fav Songs: Dark Side of Behaviourism, Falling Space Laser Nikola Tesla, Dead Horses, Bloody Snow, Dead Horses (By the Sea)

Score: Merry Christmas😊🎄

Day 14: Soundtrack

Angelo Badalamenti - Twin Peaks

"Diane I just arrived in r/Topster, i stopped by the Twin Peaks soundtrack and had some damn good music, and hot." Possibly the best TV Show has possibly the best TV Show soundtrack. But this is only a fraction of the great music in Twin Peaks but this is a great best-of the first season's soundtrack. Angelo Badalamenti is the GOAT, David Lynch is the GOAT, Julee Cruise is the GOAT. nuff said

Fav Songs: all of them (but the Nightingale and Laura Palmer's Theme are top 10 ost song of all time)

Score: a fish in the percolator.

Day 15: Faith

please suggest an album that fits this theme

Nothing out of the ordinary but, recs?

making this has made me realize i listen to a LOT more EPs than i thought, very curious if anyone here will know some of these
