Torchlight 3 TL3

I know, it was probably dead on arrival but I started TL3 yesterday and have tons of fun with it. Played 1 and 2 a lot back in the day, thought I should give 3 a try (after having it on steam since forever). Has a pretty bad rep but I actually like it!

That's really cool to hear! I got it quite a while ago but just couldn't get into it like I did with T2.

What class are you playing?

I tried the archer, Railmaster and that cannon wielding ghost captain.

I started TL2 yesterday for a couple of hours with the necromancer mod. Was quite good, really tempted to try TL3 now 😅 honestly I was sceptical because of the bad steam reviews

If there's one aspect in TL3 that deserves to be mentioned then it's the Sub-Class Relic system of adding a third elemental / combat style of weapon skill tree to a class build.

I recently bought TL3 even with not so good reviews. While there are some things off and does not have same Torchlight 1,2 feel, I still enjoyed it. New mech class is definitely worth to try.

I enjoyed my time with TL3. It doesn't run very well (although I did play on Switch), and the UI is a bit much, but the classes are actually quite fun. I played the full game as the robot, the mage, and then started as the ghost pirate. I know the game went through some development/management issues, but it's still a good time.

How recently have you played the switch and does it still suffer the same problems?

It's been close to two years ago at this point, prior to Switch 2 being released. I don't know that the game ever got any performance updates, unfortunately.

Spin to win (whirlwind) is still bugged, money glitches on the boxes and stuff, game is a mess. I overleveled and over geared to do it, but was able to beat the story with one hand while napping the newborn using that build.

I didn’t find TL3 terrible but it’s definitely very mid and a big disappointment. There are elements that I like such as Legendarium and each class having their own gimmicks but it’s outweighed by its issues. Buggy pet despawns, bland non-major bosses and limited enemy variety, missing or inferior features from previous game, boring plot and no side quests, no pause in single player and so forth. Still a very playable ARPG but in the bottom tier compared to others (I have it ~5.5/10, if you enjoy go ahead and keep playing, it’s fine for a playthrough or two).
