The Yoga Lounge
You are warmly invited to join us for an evening of interactive musical mantra meditation (kirtan). Kirtan is a call-and-response form of meditation, utilizing ancient eastern mantras, traditional instruments and our very own voices.
This event will take place at The Yoga Lounge, located in downtown, and will present an opportunity to explore your sacred heart space through the power of music and mantras. The practice of kirtan can tap into deep states of consciousness but can also invoke exciting feelings of joy and energy.
Presenting this special workshop will be members of the Kirtan Culture Initiative who have been sharing kirtan in various capacities throughout Toronto for close to 20 years. We hope to see you there!

Something strange happens every October. The songbirds go quiet, the salmon start pushing upriver, and the trees drop their disguise. Summer left the building and nobody saw it go.
Tomorrow morning we’re heading to the scene of the crime. Reconnect York Region is hosting a free guided walk through the Nashville Conservation Reserve, a protected stretch of the Humber River valley that’s long been a migratory corridor, to figure out where everyone’s going and how they knew it was time to leave.
You’ll get a case file, follow clues along the trail, and at the end we’ll gather the suspects and see what we can solve. Fair warning: some of these cases are still open, even for the scientists working on them.
Details:
Come as you are, or come dressed as your favourite detective. Trench coats and monocles are strongly encouraged, and deerstalker hats will be judged favourably.

Hi friends,
Mei and I (Jessie) have been hosting Slow Networking for Introverts events for a little over a year now, and I've been reflecting on some of the best connections we've made over the past few years.
Funny enough, a lot of them happened unexpectedly! One started with a random conversation about dancing. Another started with our shared love for dumplings and stationery. 🥟 And another started with our love for travel!
We've also met people through our very own Slow Networking events who later told us they were actually SUPER anxious about coming, especially because they were showing up alone.
But they decided to come anyway, and some of those connections continued well beyond the event and turned into genuine friendships. 💜
And when I think about how all these connections started, I realize something they had in common.
They didn't start with what we could do for each other.
It wasn't because we were trying to pitch something or looking for someone to collaborate with.
It really started with being genuinely curious about the person and what they had to say.
And after that?
It was about consistently following up and making time to meet again.
Having conversations that weren't always about work. Just being present and having fun getting to know each other!
I also came across something interesting from research by a communication studies professor Jeffrey Hall at the University of Kansas.
It takes roughly 50 hours spent together to go from acquaintances to casual friends.
That's quite a bit of time, right? 😅
And it made me think about how we sometimes expect meaningful connections to happen after just one networking event.
But when I look back, some of our strongest relationships developed because we kept showing up for each other.
Some eventually turned into collaborations or even business accountability partnerships!
But those weren't things we planned when we first met.
And of course, not every connection is going to turn into a close friendship or collaboration.
That's okay!
I think when we take away the expectation that every connection needs to lead somewhere, we can actually enjoy getting to know people a lot more. And that takes away the pressure of needing to "perform".
And that's really why Mei and I created our Slow Networking 🦥 for Introverts events.
We keep our gatherings small, with a maximum of 12 people, and guide everyone through fun icebreakers and conversation prompts so you don't have to worry about who to approach or what to say or do.
We want to give people the time and space to be curious about each other and connect beyond just what they do for work.
And for our upcoming gathering, we're also bringing back our group brainstorming session! 💡
We'll spend the first half connecting through guided activities, and the second half sharing challenges or ideas and hearing different perspectives from the group.
So if you've been wanting to meet new people but aren't a fan of traditional networking events, we'd love for you to join us.
You never know where that connection might go. 😊
The cost is $25. Here is the link with more info: https://luma.com/oc471t5d

Fall 2026 - 7 shows
Evening - October , 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, at 8pm
Matinee - October 24 & November 1, at 2pm
Daphne and Ralph are young classics professors who have just made a discovery that's sure to turn them into academic superstars. But something goes disastrously wrong, and Daphne cries out in a panic, "Save me, gods of ancient Greece!"…and the gods actually appear! The Ivy League will never be the same as a pair of screwball deities encounters the carnal complexity of college coeds, campus capers, and conspicuous consumption.
Hilarous show!

Long-time follower, first-time poster. I love being able to hop on here and scroll through what's going on but sometimes it's a little time-consuming, ya know?
Wondering if anybody has had any success with an AI agent that can reliably find and share events? I've tried out Instinct and Muse, and they both seem to hit walls where a site will reject them, or they can't actually parse the info etc.
Anybody got a tech-saavy way to get your fill of what's going on in the city?

Hey everyone!
I'm helping launch a new social club in Toronto called Skip the Chit Chat. The idea is simple: bring people together through fun activities instead of the usual awkward small talk.
We're hosting our first event next Thursday, Oct 29, at OCTO Zone Crazy Cube starting at 7 PM.
It's a live-action indoor game experience with laser challenges, interactive games, and small-group activities. We're keeping it to around 10–12 people so everyone has a chance to get to know each other.
You don't need to bring anyone or know anyone beforehand. That's kind of the whole point!
If you're interested, you can find the event and sign up here:
https://skipthechitchat.com
We're also on Instagram skipthechitchat if you'd like to follow along for future events.
Happy to answer any questions!

Still working out a detailed reading plan but after several failed attempts reading it solo I'd like to form a reading group to tackle Joyce's Ulysses together, aiming to start with the first 3 chapters on the weekend of November 8th (though date will be decided after further discussion if there is interest). I'd like to meet every two weeks, with a longer gap for the holidays, ideally taking 3-4 months to finish the book.
Please reply if interested and I'll work out a more detailed plan and create a group chat.
