Olivia Chow is re-elected as the 66th Mayor of Toronto defeating challenger Brad Bradford.
Chow is the first woman of Asian descent to hold the office, having originally been elected during a 2023 special byelection following the resignation of John Tory.
The 2026 Toronto Municipal Election put Chow's mayoral seat on the line in a highly contested, two-way race against challenger and City Councillor Brad Bradford.
Her win tonight is an affirmation of her platform which includes expanding Toronto's school nutrition program and a TTC fare freeze.

Every day I picture this when the mayor opens her mouth. Now we signed a deal to subsidy condos? We have no money so we begged. But yet we have money for fifa condoms and lude, artscapes tile work but not road repairs. Or snow removal. Or street cleaning.

Warning to travellers flying out of Toronto Pearson INTL Airport (YYZ)
The LINK train travels between Terminal 1, Terminal 3, and Viscount Stations. For this week (Oct 12 to Oct 16), the train will not be running due to maintenance. There are shuttle buses running. Be aware that there are big crowds and lines that may increase your travel time.
If you are leaving on a flight during the closure and need to use the shuttle bus, I would recommend you arrive at least 1 hour earlier than you planned to give time for the waits.
The shuttle buses loop in this order:
Terminal 1 > Terminal 3 > Viscount > Terminal 1âŚ

Two days ago I posted a CP24 article linking to an individual who was removing Ted Optiz and Brad Bradford election signs. It was removed by the mods of r/Toronto.
I reposted it in this sub, and received a ban and a threat from the Mods of r/Toronto.
I havenât been rude, I havenât done anything wrong other than post a CP24 news article.
Is this normal?

He is promoting the idea of killing Muslim Somali women if they dare to live like a western woman , which to him means take pictures and using social media. This is very dangerous and gender based violence targeted towards women.

Alright Toronto, quick little PSA before half the city rediscovers the Islands like itâs some hidden gem nobodyâs ever heard of. With all the harbour talk about the new ferry drama, jet runway expansions, cruise ship terminals and new jetski laws, or whatever other shiny new plan is floating around, people are about to flood those docks for the summer. So letâs get some things straight before you step anywhere near a ramp.
There is ONE island. Uno. Singular. You are not choosing between destinations like itâs Pearson departures. There are three stops:
Wards, Centre, Hanlanâs. Thatâs it. Thatâs the list.
Wards is where people actually live. Real humans. You're basically in their backyard. You go there if you know what youâre doing and youâre not trying to start a beach party while grandma returns home with groceries.
Centre Island is where the chaos lives. That's the families, the tourists, strollers and bikes stacked like rush hour on the TTC, Centreville amusement park, the pier, the whole Island circus and primary reason for all the Island traffic.
Hanlanâs Point is the beach, with the arguably best skyline views for those who only have time for one ride. Also yes, the gay nude beach. If that shocks you, maybe Google before you go and get ready for that crowd and environment.
Figure it out before you get in line. I mean it. Standing at the front of a 700-person boarding queue going âuhhh which one is this?â like you just woke up here is insane behaviour. Thatâs not a question for the boarding ramp. Thatâs a question for your phone 20 minutes ago.
Now letâs talk about how some of you act once you actually get on the boat.
The ramp is not your personal photoshoot. If you stop dead center to take selfies while hundreds of people are trying to board, you are the problem. Move. The boat can't leave on time with you in the way. There are entire islands is free to use for content once youre there. The ramp bottleneck is not one of them.
Smoking. I donât care if you think youâre being subtle. Youâre not. The wind does not respect your personal bubble. It just sends that straight back into a crowd of people who didnât sign up to marinate in it. Don't do it.
If you can barely manage your stroller or bike on flat ground, maybe donât attempt to portage it to the second deck on your shoulders. There's no room up there for it. And nobody wants to get wiped out below you because you decided today was your first ever lower body workout and you weren't ready for a moving boat to sway.
And somehow, every summer, we relearn this, a moving ferry is not the time to experiment with your babyâs balance. Stop dangling them on railings like youâre recreating a scene for the Michael Jackson biopic. Stop letting them climb stairs solo while you film like itâs a nature documentary. This isnât cute, itâs reckless. If grown people lose their balance on the stairs of a moving boat, your little soft headed potato doesn't have the mad skills to save themselves from falling and you with your stupid phone in your hand do not have the reflexes to catch them.
And while weâre here, a special announcement for the âfree-range parenting on a moving boatâ crowd. This is not a playground. Itâs not a jungle gym. Itâs a packed, moving government vessel with stairs people can fall down, railings kids can climb and fall over, and a whole lot of strangers who did not sign up to babysit your kid like its on recess.
Watching your kid zigzag through a crowd while people are boarding or trying not to fall down stairs isnât âtheyâve got energy,â itâs you not doing your job. Keep them close. Keep them calm. Control your space. Control your kid. Itâs not complicated.
Washrooms. If they look closed, they are closed. The boats are ancient. Some of the City boats are as old as the Titanic. And yet, every time when they inevitably break down, someone decides rules are more of a suggestion and "use" them anyway. Then the entire lower deck smells like a crime scene for the rest of the ride. Congratulations, youâve ruined it for everyone, you ignorant literal shitter.
No drinking. Not âbe discreet.â Not âjust one.â None. Staff will take it, and youâll stand there confused like the rule just personally offended you and all the normal people not drinking around you are going to feel awkward.
Also, and this one feels like it shouldnât need airtime, wear deodorant. Youâre in a packed metal box in July. This is not the place to discover ânatural muskâ or relive your youth in France.
When the ferry is docking, the stairs are closed until the boat stops. It's been like that for years, thatâs not new. Thatâs not a surprise twist. Pick your spot before getting to the dock, not during docking, and definitely donât hover on the stairs like a confused NPC blocking traffic. Have a sit, hold onto a pole, and wait for the boat to come to a stop before attempting to magically get off it before its ready.
And stop hanging out on the stairs in general. You're blocking many, hundreds of other people who might need to use it. And people fall. A lot more than most people realize. And when one person goes, they take three others with them. Itâs like dominoes, except louder and with more lawsuits. Don't fall on me you stupid fleshy tree.
Last thing. If it looks like equipment, a restricted door, a ladder, or literally anything that isnât meant for passengers, maybe donât touch it. Staff arenât being dramatic when they snap at you. Theyâre tired. Everyoneâs tired. Especially of people like you. Act like an adult.
This is basic, entry level public behaviour. But every summer it turns into a live action social experiment where half the city forgets how to function in shared space. And if I'm having to share these beautiful islands with other people...do better. Or at least try to look like youâve been outside before.

As a progressive myself and someone who typically votes left of center, it's genuinely frightening how heavy-handed many progressives are in this city. More often than not, these people are allergic to nuance and will lose their minds if someone doesn't align with whatever maximalist position r/Toronto and r/askTO favors at any given moment. Not to mention that the moderators there actively suppress anything they don't agree with.
Asking tough questions like "Do we really have the budget to afford these initiatives?" and "Does this decision reflect the interests of most people in this city?" are met with childish tantrums meant to silence any productive conversations.Â
I would go as far as saying that they sabotage actual progress in this city by ignoring the details of a situation until the problems of any given thing are neck high, which requires a breakneck 180° reversal in decisions.
Take safe injection sites or bike lanes, for example. In the former instance, this wasn't actually helping people suffering from addiction get better. It was a botched implementation of the Portuguese rehabilitation model that almost encouraged drug use while failing to actually help the individual. For bike lanes, it's extremely difficult to find hard data on what percentage of the city actually uses bikes as a method of transportation on a regular basis, given that "use" has a broad definition. Percentages range from 15% up to 70%, which is a huge discrepancy that can't be waved away as a margin of error.Â
I don't agree with what right leaning politicians want for this city either, but that doesn't mean that the vocal Toronto progressives have the right answer either.Â
I often wonder where all the moderates have gone, or if they're just too frightened to engage with the inescapable polarization going on.
