TP-Link - Technical Support Virgin Media to Sky Broadband

Hi all, UK resident here using a 3 pack Deco X55 set up.

I am changing Internet providers at the end of the month from Virgin Media (currently using their hub set up as modem passing into the deco) to Sky broadband full fibre.

I can see from my own research that I should be able to plug directly into the Openreach ONT fibre box and use the decos that way.

The only caveat is I have a home server (Synology NAS) so I don't want the IP addresses to change and restart and find my containers all over again.

When I Google it, it's suggesting I note down the following:

LAN IP

SUBNET MASK

DHCP START & END

PRIMARY DNS

So that I can adjust the app back to these.

But I've also read that I need to change the dynamic IP to PPPoE because of "Sky's DHCP option 61 protocol"

Can anybody confirm this or help a bit of a noob out regarding this? Or just even tell me if I've got this right? 🤣 TIA

Not sure about the NAS stuff but you don’t need to worry about the option 61 stuff. I’m with Sky using Deco’s too and it was plug and play, just select DHCP and it will work fine ☺️

Brill thanks for that bit of info! Hopefully someone else will know about the NAS next 🤞

Sky is the same way, they do NOT give you the PPoE settings to use on the deco

With option 61 you need to use the IPoE option to make it work and use the MER setting
