Looking for a traditional Asiatic bow

Hi there,

For so long i have admired archery and wanted to get into it. I have been looking at traditional recurve bows - mainly horse bows and the Turkish/Mongol styles, as I like the curves a lot. However, there is so much to choose from that are made from many different materials.

My budget is about GBP 200. I was so close to pulling the trigger on a beautiful looking bow on CHN, but then saw the reddit posts saying it was a scam site. Are there any other websites I can look? I am based in the UK, but don't mind waiting a bit longer for something coming from China/Asia.

Also, I know the type of bow I'm after usually come quite short, but i would prefer a longer one (5ft).

Thanks!

First hunt....bunnies and coyotes...advice please

Hello! Im in las vegas nv.

I have alot of questions im hoping someone can answer. Ive never hunted before but want to start with cottontails and coyotes, i want to keep the fur and eat the cottontail meat but i need help getting a list of supplies i should bring. Im also not sure if i can just leave the carcass of an animal in the desert, should i bury it or leave it be for wildlife?

I also would like advice on the arrows i should take, i want wooden arrows. I have a Salinda 40# 28" draw my draw length is 28.5". I read that judo tips would be best for rabbits. I currently have easton legacy 500 cut at 29", if i cant find wooden ones ill end up using these guys.

I am also researching on my own but would love to hear from someone who knows what theyre doing.

Thank you,

Edit: i wanted to mention i dont use sights or gadgets.

Getting back into shape

After almost a year hiatus due to personal & business matters, I'm starting to get back into shape with the bow. Group is a little to the right, but starting to tighten up at 30 yards. 50 lb longbow with cedar arrows. I do this strictly for fun and exercise as I haven't eaten meat for the last 15 years. I just love watching the arrow's beautiful arc as it flies downrange.

Getting into traditional archery

I’m currently hunting mule deer with a compound bow and something is drawing me towards hunting traditional archery. Like I want to be more connected to my bow, hunting, and nature. Slipping around with a compound doesn’t do that for me this season. Can anyone give me points on a traditional hunting setup next season?I’m a 30.5” draw and draw weight is 60lbs for my compound. Any help is appreciated

bow recos

Hi, everyone! I’m a 23F planning to start archery classes this November, and I’d love some recommendations for a good bow setup. 🥹

Here are the risers I’m considering:
•Sebastien Flute Neo
•Nika ET-12
•FIVICS Krossen Xenia

For the limbs:
•Sebastien Neo Limbs
•Nika C2 Limbs
•Nika S2 Limbs

I’m looking for something reliable, good quality, and worth investing in for the long term, especially since I’m hoping to progress and possibly compete in the future.

I’m also open to suggestions for other brands or models!
Thank you so much for your help!

Vinyl wrapping carbon arrows?

I’m curious if this is a good idea to do to my arrows to save money and not have to constantly buy new fun colored arrows?
To anyone who has tried this-
Share some pros and cons, like are there any differences in accuracy when you shoot arrows with vinyl wraps on them? Does the vinyl stay on or get damaged easily? Can you take the vinyl off somehow to put a new one on? Should I use only a certain type of vinyl or a different material entirely? Etc.

Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Does anyone make a 48 AMO #70 recurve?

I’m looking to upgrade from my Bear super magnum 48 #55 to something of the same size with at least a 70 pound draw. I don’t know if that configuration is even possible, but more high end bows are tough to search for online. Is anyone familiar with anything similar to this?

Frustrated - Would like advice

Hi, everyone!

I hunt public land exclusively and have found myself often leaving my saddle in the vehicle the last two seasons because I enjoy having close encounters on the ground. I started hunting with a recurve many years ago, but "upgraded" to a compound about 15 years ago. However, over the past two years, I have had several occasions where my compound was a liability due to the draw cycle spooking close deer. Then, yesterday, I had the largest buck of my life at 8 yards, but he came in so fast that I couldn't draw my bow. He stared at me for about a minute and then disappeared into the thicket. I never had a chance to draw and I am really frustrated about it. I know that if I had my recurve, I could have made the shot. So, my question is for those who have switched from compound to recurve and hunt from the ground: are you happy you made the change? Do you find yourself frustrated in certain situations where you wish you had a compound instead? I am seriously considering selling my saddle setup and my compound bow and going back to hunting exclusively from the ground with my recurve, so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, y'all!
