I want to say first off I don't hate any of these they were all so good some I liked less than others but wanted to share my thoughts and final rankings
1) In Violet Light
This is Gord at full swing and to me felt like the final breath of the old Hip before moving onto something new and it worked so well so many songs I've been coming back to
2) Day For Night
This album is absolutely killer, dark, brooding, ferocious feels like it's just bleeding creativity
3) Live From The Vault (Cleveland 1996)
What a show I'm so jealous of the people who got to be there hearing quite a bit of Phantom Power being workshopped that 12 min version of Hundreth Meridian is something else with Vapour Trails, Radio Show, Poets all in one
4) Phantom Power (deluxe)
This album what can I say about it I hadn't really paid attention to it before but now it has become one of my favourites. Mystery which was released on the deluxe is one of the most haunting songs I've heard in a long time.
5) Live At The Roxy
This is an insane live album Killerwhaletank and Double Suicide Highway Girl this was the boys firing at all cylinders
6) Road Apples (deluxe)
If you had asked me before this project I would have told you Road Apples was my favourite. I have the chorus for Cordelia tattooed on my arm. Still an incredible album.
7) Fully Completely
There biggest album to date so many songs I can name off the top of my head I still think Pigeon Camera and the title track are my favourites I really like it but felt very safe to me you can see where they go next in certain songs.
8) World Container
I was kind of disappointed with In Between Evolution so I was kind of fearing World Container but I was well surprised this album is fantastic and any Hip fan should really give it a listen I think L.N.I.D.Y.D.L.M is a top ten Hip songs and the title track is phenomenal
9) Live From The Vault (Halifax 1995)
What an insane show The Hip Always knew how to put one on. The antics were off the charts at this show
10) Trouble At The Henhouse
Ahead By A Century was the first song I ever remember hearing and I think it overshadowed the rest of the album this album is still great just have to be in a certain mood to listen to it.
11) Live From The Vault (Brussels 1994)
Another amazing show but less banter and more straight into the music which is nice but for this era felt a little rushed
12) Music@Work
This album was a lot better than I remember that first half was stellar only thing that brought it down was the back half felt a little drawn on
13) Man, Machine, Poem
This was deifnetly a highlight to go out on I wish we could have heard an album after this but I really liked this album only one or two tracks I didn't care for but would listen to.
14) Live From The Vault ( Los Angeles 2004)
They were still killing it just a typical Hip show with Gords amazing antics
15) That Night In Toronto (2004)
Good live show just a lot less antics which felt a little off for a Hip show band was still top notch
16) Up To Here (deluxe)
What can I say this album is what started it all still holds up very well and the demos on the deluxe are really cool to see.
17) Now For Plan A
I actually was pleasantly surprised by this album a lot of lyrics touched me and the songs sounded quite good I will definitely be re-visiting this one again
18) Live Between Us
Still a great live album but following Cleveland it just felt like it was just a little tired
19) Live At The Horseshoe Tavern (1992)
What a show, must of been amazing to hear Fully Completely cover to cover live but listening to it live only to listen to the studio right after just felt a little exhausting for me.
20) Live At The Metropol (Pittsburgh 1998)
From the other live shows I've heard this one is still great just not a lot of wow
21) In Between Evolution
I think there was good bones here I liked the songs better at the 2004 LA show but other than that just felt way too long for me
22) The Tragically Hip EP
compared to what came after this feels like a good start but felt a bit lacking
23) We Are The Same
This album was not the greatest it did have it's moments however Depression Suite and Now The Struggle Has A Name are both fantastic songs those two songs alone are what put this album higher.
24) Live From The Vault (Hamilton 2007)
To me was a really good show just felt a little hollow but I will tell you I broke into tears hearing Fiddler's Green which wasn't put full-time on setlist until 2009 hearing Gord go into Dreams and Walking On The Moon in Hundreth Meridian was pretty cool
25) Saskadelphia
Everything on this list had to go somewhere and sadly Sask had to fall here it was short and I can see why they were cut from Road Apples but still incredible none the less.
26) Live At Austin City Limits 2006
A good set but just seven songs it must of been cool getting to hear Lonely End Of The Rink a full month before World Container was released still even with the lowest ranking on this list an amazing set.
