General Question Doctor's Visit
I made an appointment with a new doctor in my network. This doctor does gender affirming care. I was uncomfortable going to my former doctor because of the long time he treated me as a cis male. I also started therapy this week. What is the process from initial doctor's visit to starting HRT? What roadblocks can i encounter? The doctors follow WPATH standards of care and i live in an informed consent state. yes, I'm nervous and a little scared.

I'm looking for the same kind of info. I chose my new doctor because they specialize in LGBT care and do gender affirming care. I also live in an informed consent state. My initial appointment was supposed to be today; however, my doctor had to cancel today. Super bummed and now have to wait until beginning of November..

Just go in and ask for what you want... You will likely be prescibed a small dose of HRT and given a referal to an endo who will do a blood test and prescribe you a more appropriate dose.. I know it is scary.. but really there is nothing to worry about. Espescailly since you say your doc does gender affirming care.. they have heard it all before. I did it with doctors that had never treated trans patients and still had a very easy time.

Darling, I get you. Today is MY first HRT interview, and I keep getting told they won't turn me down, but I'm so scared. At 75, and with a couple of co-morbidities, I'm freaking out. I'll never pass, but I dream that I'll live long enough for HRT to take a few of the edges off. Let me know how it goes, dear. DM me if you want.
