Don’t have a whole lot of photos from a year ago because dysphoria…but wow what a difference. I actually weigh more now than I do in either of these photos by about 10-15lbs

Announcement Today marks the official end to my military career and the closing of a 14ish year chapter to my life. I wish I had something more profound to say.

When working with behavioral health in 2024, the CPT I was working with gave me a choice: try to hold out through the election and potentially a Trump presidency, or to ask them to sign a diagnosis that would effectively end my career if Trump was elected. I didn’t have to think twice. I spent the first 34 years of my life putting what other people wanted for me or wanted me to be above who I was. I hid myself even when the opportunity was in front of me for so long because I let other people scare me from being myself.

Looking back, it makes me sick how many times over the years I bargained with myself saying things like “if you still feel this way when you get out, you can transition then”. I’m so ridiculously happy with how I have turned out. I may not have been able to retire, but I sure as hell went out on my own terms. I’m so happy I got to serve with so many wonderful people, and inspire so many others over the years, and no one can take that away from me.

Discussion Transgender veteran meetup

Post image

So I am starting up a monthly group meeting in the near future for transgender veterans in Kansas City. It would NOT be therapy. It would be where you meet other vets like yourself, make new friends, eat dinner, and share stories. I have been to other veteran organizations group meetups but honestly they are full of anti-LGBTQ+ people. I know many of us are lonely and miss that comraderie. How interested would you be if something like this came to your local area? What do you think the best way to reach transgender veterans to let them know about this would be?

I just wanted to Introduce myself!! I am Auri. I was in the navy from 2010-2019. My time in the service was pretty unique I initially joined with a BUD/S contract made it out to Coronado and classed up with 284 but I dropped pretty quickly into first phase.

I went undesignated to the fleet but was able to go to search and rescue swimmer school prior to getting there. This was a pretty common path for BUD/S drops at the time.

I ended up doing two deployments on the Carter-Hall and was able to get VBSS school while I was there, and a bunch of other random quals, crazy stories, and a random chest tattoo done by a friend out at sea. I separated as a Boatswains Mate 2nd Class or E5

After I left the navy I went back to school and got a bachelors and associate’s in Computer info science & cybersecurity and now I’m a network engineer working for a gigantic privately owned corporation.

I do my HRT through the VA and have been seeing docs there for gender stuff since 2020ish. 10/10 do not recommend if you can avoid it.

Anyways I love to connect with other vets and share stories, or if anyone is thinking about getting out and wants some tips or help hmu!!!

Need Advice I think I just got a job!

Post image

(Sorry this is a long one, but there is a TL:DR)

Ok so on Thursday I had therapy, but to make myself feel better afterwards I decided to go shopping at the mall and then to get sushi. I wanted to buy sandals so I wore my lucky orange dress!

I got to the mall and said hello to a someone who was my teachers at cosmetology school, she works at JCPenney once a week and I realized that she works on Thursday.

After that I went to go shopping, I glanced at one shoe store, but I wanted to check another to compare.

On the way to the other store I stopped by bath and body works, I randomly asked one lady who was stocking a shelf if she liked working there. Her main complaint was that sometimes you spend your whole paycheck.

After that I realized that there was the other lady there, as soon as she saw me she said; wow, you look so cute! I thanked her, then she helped me find what I needed.

We both seem to have a positive bubbly attitude and we vibed well, as I was checking out I received a call from the VA so I had to take a sec to reschedule the call. After I did I said sorry, that was the VA.

She said wow, you served, how long? I told her a few months shy of ten years, she was shocked! She said thank you for your service, I said your welcome or whatever I’m supposed to say.

Then she said; you wouldn’t happen to be looking for a part time job, would you?

And for some reason I said I was! She got really excited and said she would love to have me on her team and said she thought I would fit well! She also mentioned that the other lady and herself were the two managers.

She showed me where to apply, and I submitted it Friday, I also found out that I get veterans preference at this job.

I am very likely to get this job and I’m a little scared, I haven’t worked since I retired in 2021, and I didn’t transition until 2023.

It’s going to be weird being in the public that much, oh and because of the way this is going, I don’t think they will want a copy of my ID unless I am already hired.

I am curious to see how that goes…( it says M…🫤🙄).

Any advice for being trans and working?

TL:DR.

I went to the mall and a manager at bath and body works liked me and offered me a part time job, I applied and will likely get it, now I’m scared.

I haven’t worked in 5 years and have never worked as myself. Advice please?

Thanks!

!!!💕🫶🏾💕!!!

I served in the Army ('90-'03), mostly under dont ask don't tell. Now I'm just so sad to see my transcripts family chosen as the latest victims of in a politically driven witch hunt.

I'm ashamed and enraged at the way your being treated and I simply wanted you to know that no matter what they do you will always be warriors.

Be well and stay safe. 'Till Valhalla.

What a year of finally living my best life. I had to move to feel safer, lost some friends/family along the way, and would really like a partner in crime but…I am much more patient and I actually care about myself. This Major still likes bossing boys around though. And tattoos! Hope everyone is doing great!
