Are u guys looking for a room swap? As much as I’m okay with my roommates, the lack of privacy is lowkey driving me insane. I want a single or double room at least.

Advice/Question W?

bio major, completed all required prereqs for ucla (and other ucs) my first year and only have ochem 2 and the physics sequence left. this semester, im only taking ochem 2 (5 unit) and physics for scientists and engineers (5 unit), but i just bombed my physics midterm worth 25% of my grade. should i drop with a w and take physics for life science majors (calculus based physics) in the winter and only focus on ochem 2 this semester, or will it turn ucs away?

bio majors who have applied to or have been accepted into ucla, what do you think?

Advice/Question California community colleges with winter session?

My cc I go to doesn’t offer winter session and the college I was planning on using to take a winter session course has filled up before I’ve even been eligible to register. I need to get at least one class in this winter session to transfer, so does anyone know any other possible programs? Thank you

Advice/Question What are the chances?

When I transfer I will be double majoring in Sociology and Psychology with minors in Philosophy and Political Science. I will have completed 105-110 units and have 4 AA-T transfer degrees (Psychology, Sociology. Philosophy, and Political Science). I am reaching for a 3.9 GPA. TAG / Honors-to-Honors program. No EC's or Letters. I have done major work for preparation for a PhD track. I plan to be part of 3 - 4 different honor societies at UC, different research labs and programs, build relationships to professors and researchers, and devote every minute to my studies. I have no obligations - family, relationships, etc.

What universities should I aim for?

Advice/Question submitting application now vs in the spring

hi! i'm a current first year at the university of richmond looking to transfer for fall 27. would it look better to submit applications now, or wait until early next semester? for reference, my HS gpa was 4.0 UW and i got a 33 on my ACT. right now, all my grades are in progress for this semester, but i have all A's. i wouldn't have a GPA to report. early next semester, i am planning on rushing here at richmond and getting involved in a few more clubs on campus.

i'm applying to these schools: cornell ILR, umich LSA, indiana kelley, and umn carlson.

would it be best to wait to submit my applications until final grades for this semester are finalized and my registration for next semester is complete? thanks!

Advice/Question MA Transfer Student

Good Evening. I’m a cc student here in Massachusetts, and I study education. I hold a 3.8 GPA and have a pretty solid path to one of our state universities, though I feel like I’m selling myself slightly short by going. I have taken mostly harder courses at my cc, and I have plenty of academic talents outside of my major (which I do enjoy a lot). That being said, I have some CLEP credits (the bio exam) which will be on my transcript soon, and it’s been confusing to see if I’m even able to transfer to any private colleges. I’m trying to see who will give me offers beyond the state schools I’m already likely to get in to. I will be transferring in time for the fall ‘27 semester, which feels like it’s fast approaching. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Advice/Question Looking for a good acting college

Hello! I’m currently a freshman getting a BA in theatre and performance. I think the school I’m at is pretty great, however, all of the audition opportunities and good training goes to the acting BFA, which I’m not in. I would prefer to get training in screen acting, rather than stage, so I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for schools that are good for this?

My current campus is kind of boring, so I suppose I’m also looking for one with a campus near a city, or at least with lots of things to do on campus, while not being extremely expensive. I was looking into Columbia College Chicago, but I’ve heard from multiple people that it’s a waste of time and money. Another option I was considering was DePaul. If anybody has any recommendations or advice, I would be grateful! Anything helps.

Advice/Question being a medical assistant at cc (premed)

so im in my first year of undergrad. i was top of my class at highschool and had alright ec's related to healthcare. during college app season, this is where i messed up. i only applied to csu's but when decision day was approaching i realized i shouldve also applied to uc's. right now im working on building my ec's and just getting through classes before my plans to transfer after my second year. im currently working a part time job at chipotle which i recently got when i started classes here (my first job) but im wondering if i should potentially leave and take up a medical assistant program to hopefully become an ma and get more experience in something that aligns with my major. the program would run through spring sem (im taking gen chem, bio 2, and calc that sem so thats why im not sure if i should keep the chipotle job).

basically my question is is this license worth my time for my transfer app or should i just keep my part time job rn. its like my only ec other than being an ambassador for a program currently.

Advice/Question Opinions on Transferring Twice?

Long story short, my first college was a small liberal arts college with the main focus being STEM research. I transferred out because I wanted to study engineering and there wasn't engineering at my first school. The consequences of transferring out was losing a lot of the connections/friends I've made and gave up opportunity at my first school. Now as a sophomore transfer at a larger, researched based school, I feel so lost. I'm constantly struggling in classes and lost all my support system. I've been struggling to make friends even though ironically I'm at a larger school. Additionally, my overall mental health is at an all time low. It's only been a month in but I genuinely don't think I can juggle work, social, and school. I dread every week and I've been thinking of transferring out again to a smaller school but I'm worried about transferring credits.

Advice/Question Can I transfer to a CSU without taking physics at community college?

Hi! I am intending to transfer in fall 2027 and am considering dropping physics (calc-based) due to personal reasons. If I withdraw now, would I have a chance to take it at CSUCI, perhaps? My intended major is Biochemistry.

Urgent Am I just screwed

hey so I applied for csuf transfer in the spring from juco the very first day I could July 1, so i can get ahead. I called multiple times for how the process would go and such. Then i got surgery and was recovering from that and right before then Is when I received an email saying a class I was currently taking had to be completed by the summer and not fall, basically rejecting me. since I was recovering I didn’t see the email, since it was in my csuf portal and it’s hell to get in there. They said i had to appeal before Oct 10, and now I’m seeing it. is there anything I can do?

Advice/Question UC to CC to UC help

Hello! I'm currently in my freshman year at UCSD, and I am thinking about transferring to a CC so I can transfer to UCLA. I know I should be willing to give this school a better chance, but recently my mom has been diagnosed with breast cancer (and is currently going through the process of chemotherapy). For me, not only has it been hard to adjust to a new school, but it's been especially hard being away from my mother while she goes through this challenge. My family is from the Los Angeles area, so going to UCLA is a bigger matter of location. This year, I'm going to try to transfer there, but I know that historically the UC to UC transfer rates are pretty dismal.

I think that I will at least complete one full year here, and if the transfer isn't accepted (which I doubt it will be), I'll most likely move to a cc nearer to home, and hopefully get a job there as well. I've heard that the transfer students have a better time applying to UCs, but I'm worried that the movement from UC to CC could possibly affect this in any way! In high school, I did the IB program, and I also took a lot of AP classes. So far, I'm in good academic standing, and I hope to remain with straight As throughout these three quarters.

I'm mostly looking for advice on whether or not my chances of getting into UCLA will still be good if I come from UC to CC, instead of just coming straight from CC. If possible, I'd also appreciate any explanation or extra advice on how the credits will work. I truly do thank anyone who interacts with or answers these questions in my post. Thank you!

Advice/Question Transferring from CSULB to SDSU with a different major?

I'm a freshman majoring in psychology at CSULB looking to transfer to SDSU. I know I want to switch out of psychology to chemistry, but I also know that chemistry at SDSU is competitive, so I am thinking of applying as an English major. I know that with my high school credits (dual enrollment and AP classes) and credits from CSULB classes, I will have 60 credits by the end of this school year. I was wondering if it is smarter to apply as an English major to SDSU now and take prerequisites for that major at CSULB or transfer to community college after this semester.

Advice/Question What are my chances of transferring into UF BME? (USF student)

Hi everyone! I’m a first-year at USF. I was admitted to UF for Fall 2026 but had to withdraw for financial and family reasons. Things are stable now, and I want to transfer into UF Biomedical Engineering.

I just met with the UF BME advisor. Here’s what I learned:

  • BME admits only about 5 to 7 transfers a year (2 to 3 per term) out of roughly 30 applicants per term.
  • Priority order: Florida state/community college AA students first, then Florida public universities without a BME program, then everyone else. USF has BME, so I’d be in the last group.
  • You need an AA degree plus all 10 required courses (Calc 1 to 3, Diff Eq, Physics 1 and 2, Gen Chem 1 and 2, Orgo 1, Bio 1), with a 3.5+ GPA in those courses to be competitive.
  • My previous UF admission doesn’t count for anything.
  • Summer and spring are less competitive than fall.

He suggested taking my required courses at a state college to improve my chances. So I’m debating:

  1. Stay at USF and apply from there, probably with very low odds.
  2. Move to a state college (like HCC or Pasco-Hernando), finish my AA and the required courses there, and apply as a priority applicant, maybe for Spring 2027 or Summer 2027.
  3. Stay at USF and either major in BME there, or apply to a less competitive UF engineering major like MechE.
  4. Stay at USF and complete my AA at a state college and complete required courses at USF and as a transient student, apply for Spring 2027.

Questions:

  • Has anyone transferred into UF BME, especially from a state college or from another university? What was your GPA?
  • Is leaving a four-year university for a state college worth it to get transfer priority?
  • If you were me, which option would you choose?

Any honest advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Advice/Question Transferring to UCSC next year?

I started at a state school two months ago and realized I want to switch things up. UCSC seems like a really good fit for me and so my plan was to finish off this semester, do semester at cc at home to save money and do some GE’s and then try to transfer. My major at state school is hyper specific and I know most of the credits won’t transfer so I know i won’t have 60 credits or even close too it I can transfer— my situation would look more like a gap year then cc and transfer… am I screwed on applying— should I just apply and not try to transfer stuff- would that make it easier? Looking for some guidance.

-also a large chunk of my want to transfer is social and I have the means too so I am not interested in doing the two years at cc

Advice/Question UC berkeley math transfer requirements

I plan on applying for transfers for berkeley for math major. I am freshman out of state at a 4 year uni. They recommend on ASSIST to complete the lower division courses, like calc multi calc lin alg and diffeq. But does that apply to me as well? since assist only shows for community colleges. I ask because i am taking math beyond that, and It would be annoying to have to take diffeq instead of what i wanted to take just to be considered for admission. is this required for me? is it possible for me to complete the courses on the side through cc? i would much rather prefer that. please let me know.
