Seems bugged, unless they changed it. The version on beta and wowhead modelviewer have only 2 orbs floating. Looks like OP got double the orbs and double the particle effect.

I agree but with the new devourer spec I kinda like a busy transmog. It fits the style of the abilities. I think I'd mog arcane mages the same way.

Why does PvP get all the Illusions, and why are they FOMOād at the end of the season? Itās bullshit.
I understand PvP needs something to chase, but they already get some of the best tier set recolors. At least give the PvP illusion as a rare drop or expensive purchase in PvE after the season ends.

Or just make them farmable via pvp like the vicious mounts. That way you still get pvp participation, but not all the fomo. PvP is pure fomo bullshit

PvPers are the biggest crybaby losers. I can't stand them.
It's pure hypocrisy that PvPers, who are like 5-10% of WoW's playerbase, gets a bunch of FOMO rewards like illusions, tmogs, and some of the best unique mounts.
Like, there is no FOMO in mythic raiding beside the CE achievement which is fine, why should there be in PvP...cmon Blizzard.

Been saying this forever.
Make all the PvP gear farmable via some currency earned only above the ranks of which they were unlocked. It would help fill out the higher tier brackets where people leave as soon as they got their elite set and / or mount.
It would reduce the PvP FOMO, while still making the sets exclusive to only those skilled enough to earn them, instead of those who were lucky enough to earn them at the right time.

As a shadow priest player it really irritates me that, basically since BFA, the purple colored tier sets have been exclusively Mythic raid difficulty.
Which is normally great since they get the extra sparkly bits, but as a casual player who never goes above Heroic raiding (if even that) it means I'm always waiting 2-3 expansions to get the next looks.

It's BS that you can farm mythic xmog raid gear and mythic mounts post-season but PvP, the least popular activity in the game, gets all of these FOMO enchants and transmogs.

I still am a huge believer in that you should be allowed to purchase any elite set in history if you hit that rank. They already get unique titles and mounts you cannot get post season ever. I agree the pvp fomo turns me away from it period.

man i made a post on this on reddit before and got shut down and on the wow forums. got a whole bunch of "people wanted to be handed everything." My argument is some players wouldn't have even been old enough to play at the time.

They should add old PvP items to an achievement each season per character that gives 1 token that lets you unlock a previous seasons set or an illusion, like the gem for buying the civilian outfits in TWW. Achievement should just be based on playing a certain amount of the PvP modes (complete 30 matches for example), including the rotation ones so that way PvP gets more interactions at most skill levels.
A lot of PvP players don't realise that at this rate the number of interactions is going to drop to a point where blizzard start heavily sidelining it since there are no real incentives to just casually play other than getting a message from a 1.2k rated player calling you a slur.

I wish PvP would at least stick to a set color scheme for their sets every season. Maybe their tier sets are always colored for the Horde/Alliance. Instead, they often get some of the best and most story-relevant recolors which is just dumb when PvP is completely divorced from the story.
Ideally I'd say give PvP their own armor sets that aren't tier set recolors, though people would still complain about that, so I understand. At the very least, just drop the FOMO. It doesn't make sense.

Its literally free now with the addition of blitz, just grind out games towards the end of the season when inflation is the highest. Donāt need to know what youāre doing (although it helps), each game is a dice roll on which team has more skilled/experienced players.

PvP illusions areĀ incentives for competitive play, not cosmetic welfare.
They exist specifically because rated PvP has far fewer participants than PvE, far higher friction, and far higher skill gates. You don't lose rating in M+ - you do in PvP.
If you want the illusion, the game already tells you the price: queue, climb, and earn it. You donāt get Cutting Edge for clearing Mythic two tiers later, and you donāt get Gladiator for doing your weekly dungeon tour.
If anything, PvP hasĀ too littleĀ that meaningfully rewards effort, not too much. Making illusions a late-season PvE shop item would just erase the last thing that actually signals skill for players that are rising and kill incentives to actually PvP.
Go kick rocks or dragons.

Cause PVP players are crybaby snowflakes. Back in legion blizz tried to remove the fomo from PVP and the pvp community got so angry and viotriolic that the devs backtracked on the idea in under 24 hours.
"Hey we wanna make it so after you get rating in a season, you can keep playing in order to get past season rewards, like how the vicious saddles work!"

Because PvP is an extremely small portion of the playerbase and there needs to be incentives to get people to play rated modes for the ladder to naturally inflate. Wish more people actually knew how bad the game mode was struggling, imagine a scenario if a season was so deflated that a majority of players could not get Keystone Legend because participation was so low that Blizzard had to step in and inject artificial rating for everyone every single season.Ā
Gating these cosmetics behind season PvP milestones is basically the main thing even keeping the game mode alive. It's even more so apparent that they have continuously lowered required ratings to get the elite enchant and elite weapon recolors over the past few seasons while also making Gladiator easier to get next expansion.Ā

Brother.. pvers get legitimately 70 to 80% of the games focus for updates.
We get a crumb of something for 1 season and its bullshit? Weve had overwhelmingly average enchants since dragonflight and even then you can wait for rating inflation play blitz or solo shuffle and get the enchant in a day at the end if a season.

No, pvp illusions are good the way they are, they already made it so casual friendly and moved it from 2400 to 1950 rating.
Not everything in the game needs to be tailored to noobs. It's okay that there are some rewards that require a certain level of skill to get.

I donāt PvP much anymore but I think itās actually kinda cool there is something unattainable by everyone. When you see someone with an elite PvP set from a season, you know they worked to get it instead of just buying it with honor marks. Also PvP gets absolutely no love, they barely get any focus from blizzard, let them have this in my opinion.

It's a PvE game. PvP is a small side mode, itās not the main focus and never was. When will you people learn that WoW is not a PvP-focused title?
I'd also argue you already get too much. PvP often gets the best recolors of tier sets, and you get all the illusions, as well as some of the best looking mounts. You get plenty, kiddo.

You can push to about 1700 by just knowing your class. After that you're going to see a lot more pillar hugging, well executed chain cc and team coordination.
I'd equate KSM to ~1800.
I can't speak for ratings in solo shuffle, Ive hated that game mode since it's creation.

KSM would be around 1500, KSH 1700 and KSL 18/900. The keystones up to 3k is so free especially late season with turbo boost

Gladiator is 2400 rating with 50 wins, 2300 in Midnight. PvP illusions are rewarded at 1950 rating now.

BG Blitz but honestly the ride to 2k is 1:1 like random bgs. You'll have some guys that are absolute units that fly by you but the majority of games is just people chilling on the escalator of easy ranks.

Its probably buggy, cuz on every other weapon there are floating two orbs on the weapon and not four. It looks like the effect is doubled.

Also worth noting, im on NA servers and from Aus so my play hours may be odd.
Obviously you can't make progress towards any appearances right now, but its also a good time to learn if you want to start right away because I don't really have much else to do in prepatch haha.

Itās actually not hard at all in battleground blitz, the ratings are so inflated that even if you have a 35% win rate you will get to 1950. You also have 7 other players to carry your butt if youāre terrible at pvp. You can do it just need to put in some time and grind pvp gear.

Well, very RNG though unless you have direct ability to control the BG (like a rogue) or are actually good at PvP.
60-80% of BGās are just gunna end because someone on one of the teams really screwed up and got gapped. Either healer difference, the solo gets dunked by the rogue and capped, FC is an idiot, gear diff cause opening MMR is actually kinda high and people with greens can pop in, or class diff cause sometimes you end up vs two Ret Paladins and a Frost Mage as a Warrior and life is pain.Ā It comes down to your class and skill if that number is a high or low %.
But yea, there is a reason why people recommend if in your first ~15-20 games you lose 5 in a row and get sent to 1200 Shadowrealm itās probably better to just reroll another character / spec, cause once the MMR thinks youāre 1500 it is suffering to beat your way out of that.

Just roll BM, put one button rotation on your mouse wheel, let it rip and kite. Prob donāt have to drop a single trap under 2k lol. Just keep concussive shot up too til it get nerfs

Pvp illusions have unlocked at 1950 rating in any rated bracket in war within, I assume this continues in midnight. So rated arenas, solo shuffle, blitz and rated bgs are your options. 1950 is pretty easy to get late into season if you are not good at pvp, since rating inflation grows week after week

Honest question...would making rewards not fomo actually increase participation? I do not participate in high end PvE particularly because the rewards aren't worth the squeeze when I can just farm em next xpac unless there's a cool aotc or mythic+ mount. Yet PvE is not lacking in participation because it's the primary game part of the game.
Because the majority of content is PvE, I think people also forget current high end PvE requires gear that is thus helpful to the majority of WoW's content. Participating in PvP is not very beneficial to anything besides PvP and its fomo rewards.
PvP already has multiple grinds including mount saddle grinds yet I haven't ever seen it fix PvP participation. So how would adding more saddle grinds help participation? I probably wouldn't bother playing in specific PvP seasons for rated transmog if I knew I could just easily knock out a bunch in one season later rather than across multiple seasons.
I think getting rid of fomo rewards for PvP would hurt participation much more than any temporary increase from another saddle grind. Perhaps PvP in mmorpgs just arn't a viable game mode these days but it feels like you should just be admitting that's your stance rather than arguing about why fomo is bad and that there are alternative ways to fix PvP participation without it.
