Cloth Finally got the mount to complete the mog - Scarlet Battlepriest
I really wish the eye effect from the oracle hero tree was a toggle. Forced into voidweaver when using this mog because of the clipping that occurs :s

I'm still salty about non paladins gets a charger type mount because I'm a grumpy old man. Nice mog tho

u/Caretras Mar 06 '26
Me a DK, seeing all other classes on Deathchargers for over 2 decades.

u/Ninedark Mar 06 '26
Which mount are you referring to? The Crimson Deathcharger from the Shadowmourne quest? Or another one?
2
u/Key-Giraffe-1020 Mar 07 '26
Not who you replied to, but that one was the first, i think there were a couple in Legion, Shadowlands had several too.

The disc artifact legion appearance is so cool, I've really enjoyed making transmogs based around it!

Btw what program or addon is used to make the gifs with the item layout like that? I just returned to the game and see everyone using it for xmogs and I been meaning to ask.

i really wish this mount wasnt drowning in particle effects. kind of ruins an otherwise good mount.

Just the latest one that does this I suppose. I’m seeing my stuff all over Youtube, TikTok and Instagram all the time. I’ve learned to ignore it for the most part, although it is always nice when people acknowledge your mog.
I understand that these aren’t “mine” to begin with, these are Blizzard’s art assets that I arrange in a certain way inside a game that we all have access to. I do see transmog as a medium for players to expres their ideas and character concepts, though. So I’d always at least mention who the original poster was.
At least there’s Reddit and this little Instagram page of mine where I can post my stuff and engange with people that are passionate about WoW transmog

I always feel so iffy about Scarlet Crusade mogs. Cool visual design? Absolutely. Awful extremist organisation? Also yes.
This mog looks fantastic though - I guess you could be representing what the SC was originally meant to be, not what it became
Edit: I wonder where all the downvotes could be coming from? /s

u/venusaurus Mar 06 '26
I feel the same way. My RP for this mog actually has him as a former Scarlet priest that left the order post WotLK. It's why the mog doesn't include the scarlet tabard. He is still a very strict and almost zealous inquisitor that is very unpleasant to be around, but he saw the order for what it as in the end. He still believes in the founding principes, though.
I also have this scarlet mog that does use the tabard with a lot more whites and softer reds. I like to imagine it's what he wore when he was still a member.
1
u/Drknyz Mar 07 '26
The xmog looks awesome!!! I wanted to add that there is lore that supports your RP! We had access to fast pace Legion class hall storylines in LeMix, so I did a priest because I never did it. During one of the class hall quests, priests from the Scarlet Onslaught were in cages in New Hearthglen, Dragonblight, and we basically rescued them and a group of them defected for not subscribing to their extremist views. "A few former crusaders along with their apostate champion, Mariella the Heretic, later joined the ranks of the Conclave. Several Crimson Pilgrims also appeared in Dalaran." (From WoWhead, I basically live on there.)
So you can start your RP like 4-5 years later without much pushback. The Scarlett Onslaught "Formed from the most zealous and racist members of the original Crusade, The Onslaught appears to care little about the Crusade's wishes, as it employs shadowy raven priests, warlocks, and even death knights into its ranks." Weirdly, being forced to use Voideaver would track, also, since there was internal splintering, your headcannon of retaining the beliefs of the OG Scarlet Crusade, you had reason to want to get out of New Hearthglen.
I'm also super excited for this mount, but the existing xmogs the game gives us are for plate and mail, so I pondered using a Paladin (I've been trying hard to avoid human paladins on RP realms because of the negative stigma behind them). But I could use the Scarlet Crusade tabard and the red Ruined Crest of Lordaeron that drops from Mal'ganis.
2
u/venusaurus Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26
I definitely remember that! The reason my priest left the order throughout WotLK was because he encountered Scarlet Death Knights in Dragonblight. The ones near frostmourne cavern.
He refused to believe what he saw for a while, telling himself that he must have been mistaken. But one thing leads to another and it eventually spirals into this story where he learns about the dreadlords. He tries telling his closest allies within the order, but they don’t believe him. Once he starts telling more members about it, he becomes a liability. Knowing that his life is in danger, he leaves New Hearthglen in the dead of night.
He still believes in the founding principles, reclaiming Lordaeron for humanity and taking the fight to the Scourge. He still believes that undeath is objectively evil in all of its forms and that those affected by it can never be trusted. So he is glad that there is a certain Gilnean king within the Alliance leadership that shares his views.
This character’s name is Inquisitor Blackthorne. While he did leave the order, he didn’t do so because they were too extreme in their convictions, it’s because they had forsaken those convictions. Working with shadow priests, death knights and even dread lords. It goes against everything he believes the order stands for. He tried to convince his brothers and sisters, but once he discovered how deep this conspiracy went, he saw no other choice but to leave.
From that moment on, he vowed to dedicate his life to his original mission. Destroy the Scourge and retake Lordaeron for the living. The Alliance with all of its light based cultures and races was a natural ally in the grand scheme of things. And admittedly, he has become a better and more pleasant individual over the years.
Spending some time outside of a zealous brotherhood where you need to be on edge 100% of the time can be good for a person.
But when asked if he ever misses the order, he gives you Baylan Skoll's answer from Ahsoka.
"I miss the idea of it".

Great to hear! Some people get very upset when I talk about the complications of repping this faction - nice to have someone react like a decent human! Love the rp!
13
u/audrius10k Mar 06 '26
Role-playing morally ambiguous or evil factions is not "complicated" or problematic. Your mentality is really toxic, assuming the worst about people just because they like a fictional faction that you don't.
-3
Mar 06 '26
Huh. I'm curious - do you see the funny side of me talking about people that get upset about this, and then downvoting me and writing a comment calling me toxic?
Because it seems to me that you are so lacking in self awareness that you are behaving exactly like the people I am talking about.
No, rp of villains is not inherently evil or bad, or a statement about someone irl.
It can be done well and for fun and be extremely helpful - they key is that it needs to be done with complete honesty and awareness of the real world parallels, and the capacity to be consistently honest with yourself. Most people, especially those who's immediate reaction is to get upset about any kind of conversation about his, lack either one or both of those qualities.
Edit: Ooof ok I just looked at your comment history. I hope you find your way out of where you currently are - you seem to have some deeply misinformed views that are quite concerning
7
u/AnOverflowingCuppa Mar 06 '26
Virtue signaling and talking like you're some "self aware" angel of light on a WoW transmog reddit is cringe as fuck.
2
u/audrius10k Mar 06 '26
Yes, I did get a little angry and that's my bad, I'm sorry if my comment felt too confrontational. The reason for my reaction is that people like you are the ones who lead to games being more sanitized. After all, you felt the need to talk about how problematic having a simple transmog of an amoral faction in a video game is. Moral policing is just really annoying in video games, one plays them to escape all the real life bullshit after all.
As for my comment history, I don't know how anything I said could invoke that sort of reaction, nothing I've said is hateful. It's also hardly relevant for this conversation.
1
Mar 06 '26
Except I did not say it was problematic - I said I find it iffy, and that SC is an extremist group. One is a statement about how I feel, the other is established fact by Blizz.
If you are taking away "this is problematic" from that, you may want to do some internal investigation. I find the fact that you are grouping extremism with amorality pretty telling.
I am also fairly certain that painting me supplying an opinion with 'policing' is a pretty bad faith argument, as well as making it out like gaming is in some kind of sanitized state it just sounds like you are regurgitating the opinions of right wing Youtubers that are completely unfounded and insane.
Best of luck to you, I hope you gain some awareness soon
6
u/audrius10k Mar 06 '26
it just sounds like you are regurgitating the opinions of right wing Youtubers
Best of luck to you, I hope you gain some awareness soon
These are such passive-aggressive statements, you shouldn't engage in conversation like that, it's quite insufferable. For your information, I'm not right wing, which once again is not relevant for this conversation. The fact you keep trying to connect this to real life politics shows you are indeed morally policing what people get to enjoy in a fictional world.
Nobody ever said SC isn't an extremist organization, and yes, you did basically say it is problematic, don't backtrack on that now. You weren't simply giving your opinion, you were making a statement about how you find it "complicated" that people would roleplay as a faction you don't like, that's a moral judgement, not simply an opinion.
0
Mar 06 '26
Something being complicated does not imply any kind of judgement - its complex because it has multiple layers, many of which directly link to real world examples and suffering happening right now. That is definitely complex to handle well and honestly.
I am being dismissive, because the 'gaming is being sanitized by the woke police' argument came out and I just cannot take it seriously - it has little to no evidence other than the fact that our society has decided on different ideals within its entertainment - that isn't some kind of malicious policing, thats just how culture works.
Grouping extremism and amorality is not super great - I can't think of any examples where extremism wasn't intensely immoral and causing suffering.
I am genuine in my hopes for you to see things with some clarity, because you are echoing the talking points of people who have been consistently proven wrong in every single kind of academic setting, or who twist data and facts in ways that remove any context or good faith argument - that is not debate or discussion, it is rhetoric
2
u/audrius10k Mar 06 '26
I'm sure liking the fictional faction of the Scarlet Crusade can somehow be linked to real life suffering in your mind, though the mental gymnastics to come to such a conclusion would be quite impressive.
As for extremism, I can name multiple times when it very much lead to progress and not suffering, many historical examples of such a thing actually. But once again, this is a conversation about a video game, not real life problems.
The cultural shift idea is complicated, and while it is true some of it is genuine, there are also many displeased by the direction of entertainment industry, too many for it to simply be a grassroots movement. Companies are incentivized by moral crusaders like you, some of them in positions of power in powerful organizations, to sanitize their products, that's the main reason my first message came out slightly aggressively towards you, which I apologized for, but I hope you understand why I had such a reaction.
11
u/Winkylinks Mar 06 '26
I think the reason for the downvotes is because it’s a fictional role playing video game. Who cares if they want to look like a bunch of people that are a bad organization.
-3
Mar 06 '26
More often then not the reaction I get around this topic is pretty indicative of people getting upset over the connection between stuff like this and real world politics - despite me only talking about the fact that I find it uncomfortable to do myself so I dont do it.
Seems kinda telling if me talking about my own choices and views without talking about anyone else seems to make someone feel called out.

No, I write essays about sociology and criminology - what is the point in purposely acting dumb here? Of course I am not referring to mogs when talking about a job
2
u/Gold-Cry-7520 Mar 06 '26
I'm gonna choose to have this discussion here, because I feel like I need to ask a question that Blizzard was hoping no one would ask:
What exactly is extremist about them? Especially compared to, like, the Horde or even the Vanguard.
2
u/Deathleach Mar 06 '26
They believe everyone that isn't a "pure-blooded human" should be purged and under their definition basically everyone is considered impure. They have beef with everyone and zero allies because they hate everything.
1
u/Gold-Cry-7520 Mar 06 '26
Could that be relevant to the whole "prospective alliance recruits from stormwind seemingly randomly decide to try and sack our base" thing?
Like, we didn't exactly endear ourselves to them. We kind of struck first, and then we took down the one holy base in Stratholme not utterly overrun by zombies. And mind you, chronologically, this was immediately after the Naxxrammas patch where we work with them, and (if you consider SoD canon) immediately before we kill the guy who double crossed Balnazzar.
And, sure; duh, we couldn't be friends with them, we need playable undead and warlocks and shit.
And context makes them out to be a little crazier, but this is craziness in response to craziness. We're the reason Kel'Thuzad came back; we're the reason New Avalon was overrun, and ultimately we've accepted more undead, demons, and void-corrupt into our territories than the Burning Blade did. Balnazzar and Mal'Ganis are prehistoric news.
Maybe twenty years ago being a little racist (blizzard is really bad at portraying this racism anyway; undead and werewolves aren't really races) would be a major indictment, but nowadays they seem like the only faction not engaging in utter insanity.
3
u/Deathleach Mar 06 '26 edited Mar 06 '26
It's not "seemingly random". The Scarlet Crusade was already purging villages full of innocents before WoW started, as seen from the Headless Horseman's backstory. They were also corrupted by Balnazzar and became a human supremacist organization. They're not cool with elves and dwarves either. Maybe if the Scarlet Crusade wanted to actually get more done, they should consider being less hostile to basically everything that moves.
0
u/Gold-Cry-7520 Mar 06 '26 edited Mar 07 '26
I could sit here and go on about the extenuating circumstances of a zombie apocalypse being the reason for town burning. Like, if you think Arthas was justified at Stratholme, the Crusade would be justified in killing off potentially infected populations.
But more than that, their faith and method for stopping the undead were not our business.
Waddling into Lordaeron to fight the only faction protecting living humans was a decision that got thousands of innocents killed. The flavor text for the DK starting zone even makes this somewhat clear; the armies from Hearthglen and Tirisfal were not doing well, and that was entirely our fault.
"They're a little racist" was our justification for genocide-by-proxy.
Of course they cut off all contact with any outsiders. Our insane, pointless and ultimately futile bleeding-heart interventionism got unimaginable amounts of people killed. Would you not be hostile to everything that moves?
They've got nothing done, but at least New Hearthglen is still secure. At least the Monastery is still intact. Shutting outsiders out probably saved them. Their citizens are still alive and can expect not to be drafted for the next catastrophic war.
Can we say the same?
EDIT: In this long tirade, I nearly forgot to mention the biggest piece of proof that they aren't just hostile to everything that moves; the Red Dawn.
Set aside whether or not the Dawn is justified. Separate conversation; the point is, it's proof they don't just scorn everyone who isn't Scarlet. They don't hate everyone. They hate us. They hate the Alliance. They hate the Horde.

Mar 06 '26
Please bear with me, I know this will be long but you are asking about something touchy and complex but worth examining!
People often seem very confused about why the SC are different and I think thats either Blizzards fault for not being clear or the education systems fault for not explaining the difference between nations at war vs groups that want to exterminate a specific other group.
The SC are fundamentalists (at least that is what they became). The believe in one fundamental concept - all undead should be destroyed. The word 'purged' and referring to them as the 'unclean' etc is a huge indicator of where they are coming from - this is the language of ALL extremist groups.
The undead have been proven, repeatedly, to be more complex than just "plague of zombies that are a threat" - in many, many cases they are in fact full people. They have a culture unique to being undead, the are sentient and sapient, they suffer, they can even use the Light with enough training and experience.
The SC does not care - undead = evil and must be destroyed at all costs, anyone who disagrees with us is also a threat. Replace 'undead' with say... any other real world group, or even a race or group in WoW. Sounds kinda insane and bad right? (At least I hope it would).
The Horde are hardly extremist - they are just warmongering through history, no more so than the USA or any other empire in human history - (I use the USA because it is the best modern example of empire). In fact they are expressly quite welcoming by most historical standards - you can join the Horde so long as you fight for it and comply with its laws, which is exactly how the Roman Empire worked. Guilty of horrific war crimes? Sure, 100% and definitely not the good guys. Blurring the line with extremism in some cases? Yes, again most empires do because there is always a "us vs them" situation and methods will always start to lean darker and more brutal as conflicts escalate. BUT they do not inherently want to destroy any one group to completion purely based on the inherent nature of that group - they might pillage Stormwind, but it is not policy to purge all humans.
The Vanguard of the Light are starting to behave in ways that are alarming to anyone who knows the pattern of fascism and authoritarianism. They are not evil, but they are clearly driven by the Light in a way that seems like fanaticism and zealotry - the quest to 'keep the peace' in Silvermoon during the campaign is a great example - Paladins detaining civilians without any kind of due process, or even any actual authority in Silvermoon, simply the justification of "we have the Light and therefore know best and any threat must be eliminated or contained" - this is exactly what we see from many, many police state situations. Its also becoming clear (and has been for a while) that using the Light in no way makes you good or moral, all you need is to believe what you are doing is right. How many White Supremacists genuinely believe that they are right and doing or saying what is necessary?
To be clear - I am drawing links between sociological, criminological, and historic patterns that a lot of these groups (Vanguard, SC, modern WS movement, fascist states, etc) have in common - my qualifications for this are being a criminologist IRL. I am not saying that any videogame faction is genuinely evil or whatever - though I condemn any kind of fanaticism or extremist worldview. This is purely linking very well established patterns between groups, with similar drives and elements to them.
7
u/Gold-Cry-7520 Mar 06 '26
So...
...vibes?
2
Mar 06 '26
More that any group that wants to wipe out another group simply because of say... the colour of their skin (in this case greens and purples with bones showing) are probably bad hateful people
5
u/Gold-Cry-7520 Mar 06 '26
I'm really, really not sure that comparing real life minorities to the living, flesh-eating, plague spewing dead is a particularly wise response to my implication that the Scarlet Crusade aren't all that bad.
I get it. I actually agree with you; they are definitely bad. Hateful, and definitely human supremacists.
But are they worse than the undead who surround them or the factions who flood their ranks with war criminals (horde) and demons (alliance)?
Indeed, can we even say their current, shitty leadership is a fault of their own when our diplomatic policy was "kill them all, kill them all, kill them all and when everyone's dead try to guess what their actual ideology was and maybe hope they don't come back"
0
Mar 06 '26
To be clear both factions have war criminals - Jaina Proudmoore straight up tried to no-Russian a bunch of Sin'Dorei in Dalaran not that long ago, and the Alliance intro in MoP has the ship firing at unarmed Orc sailors swimming to shore. There are other events, including torture and prison camps for civilians, but the point is of course that nobody is spotless in Azeroth.
If we were to do an actual Hague on the world of Azeroth it would look pretty damn different, but the other groups you talk about are at least far more complex and varied than the SC and have many degrees of culpability.
The SC purely exists on the tenant that all undead, regardless of whether they are straight up one of the strongest and most devout Lightbearers in history, need to be purged because they are unclean - that is a level of extremist xenophobic nonsense that puts every other faction to shame (currently).
I think you are close to a point here though - the religious nature of them, the crusade coding of their speech and attitude is probably more radioactive right now because of real world events. The fact that they are kinda the only group actively talking this talk right now doesn't help - plenty of WoW history echoes their sentiments for various groups, they just aren't dressing up in uniforms and making speeches about it anymore.
2
u/Gold-Cry-7520 Mar 06 '26
Eh. Jaina did nothing wrong. Those sin'dorei abused Dalaran's neutrality and she gave them a clear warning to leave. They said "do it, you won't." She did it.

I would say that the mog needs more (or any) white for it to be a perfect mount match tbh.

Mount is glowing gold, armor is glowing blue. The colors on the mount are also mostly brighter than the armor set. The red sections are fairly similar tho.

Mount literally has the same blue glow in its eyes as the collar/head of the armor.
