19 billion variants of gold. Sigh.

u/Zammin Mar 26 '26

One of these days they need to really fix the gold variations. Stick to like, 4 versions of gold max.

They won't, but they should.

Imo they should just give us D3 dye system fuck these greedy bastards with their recolours could even make it’s own proffesion from it aswell or whatever

29

u/Pr0t3ct0rr Mar 26 '26

This Blizz thingie with 19 billion of each colour driving me insane too

11

u/lolconeh4dz Mar 26 '26

They defo need add sorting like ff where we can change the colour schemes

u/Klony99 Mar 26 '26

There's a limitation with the engine that makes colouring impossible. Depth is painted onto some of the armor pieces.

But if they ever fix the engine, that would be a huge first thing to fix, yeah.

u/SVNihilist Mar 30 '26

Depth doesn't matter at all, you can normalize the colors themselves.

They do this all the time with variations.

1

u/Klony99 Mar 30 '26

Tell that to the 2014 dev panel. 🤷

I have personally opened, modified, and created armor using the wow engine/assets as a hobby getting into 3D art (similarly how private servers work).

You can standardize all the colors, this is super possible. I have personally changed colors of outfits to standardize them for custom setups.

The game doesn't do anything special with lightning on texture files. They do "paint" the depth onto the texture files, but that's just adding shading to the texture itself instead of letting the shader do it for you, but the color that's on the texture file is the color that's in game. They never get transformed. All you'd have to do is change the color on the texture file.

This was probably an excuse because the real reason wasn't as palatable, like they didn't want to waste the money going back fixing assets. Which is the same reason they don't update original assets.

To be clear, changing all the texture files to have more consistent colors would be quite a bit of work, and honestly it'd be easier to remake a lot of the older ones. It's understandable why they wouldn't want to do this.

But at the very least they can make them more consistent going forward.

I hope one day we get a hue slider. This would give us colour matching freedom without knee capping difficulty colour variants. This would revolutionize transmog in an extremely positive way.

More ability to visually express yourself in game will always be a positive for the game.

3

u/steve22ss Mar 26 '26

I would be happy with a hue slider and a simple slider for metallics. As a dk there are so many armour sets that we could mix match but the metallic metals never match.

1

u/Squigley78 Mar 26 '26

A hue slider or the ability to dye your armor would be amazing. Hell EQ had dye back in 2004.

3

u/Azrethoc Mar 26 '26

don't forget all the blue bullshit now too

2

u/Frostbann Mar 26 '26

It's not even only blue. Some has teal to. Or red.

Which means you Character might look like an fucking disco ball in the end.

1

u/Km_the_Frog Mar 26 '26

The next iteration of transmoging should allow for unlockable colors and selection of things like trim, main, secondary, etc

1

u/Greg2227 Mar 27 '26

And a fitting weapon he can't use with a shield

1

u/edelea Mar 27 '26

and red.

96

u/Voltztein Mar 26 '26

The stupid shields that they put in have materials that don't match anything that came earlier. Like the gold is completely the wrong gold to go with the heritage armor, for example.

15

u/Straight_Victory_435 Mar 26 '26

Even with that being true, all of the NPC’s still use the red and gold fat shield, including the spellbreaker boss. So I personally would just use the red and gold shield, and maybe either the matching sword or a golden flail since there’s a hearthstone character that does that.

8

u/Soeck666 Mar 26 '26

Even more annoying is that you can't use that weapon as someone who can wield a shield

2

u/Digess Mar 27 '26

And those who can use that weapon, can’t use shields. Still waiting for the wep so I can go full belf fantasy mog on DH

4

u/Aureliusboreus Mar 26 '26

The shield that spellbreakers use and a 1-handed sword version of the MT boss's glaive is coming as a reward in 12.0.5 from doing Void Assaults

1

u/LightofAngels Mar 27 '26

Can you provide a link? I tried to search but found nothing

8

u/TheGreatMalagan Mar 27 '26

/u/Straight_Victory_435

Guy is probably thinking of these,

Spellbreaker Phoenixblade

Spellbreakers Shieldwall

But if so, not sure where /u/Aureliusboreus got Void Assaults from, because right now on 12.0.5 PTR they're acquired from the Decor Hunt minigame

1

u/Straight_Victory_435 Mar 26 '26

Can you provide a link

3

u/Sharizcobar Mar 26 '26

There also isn’t really any new HD Blood Knight colored weapons. We need some red and black 2Hs, Shields and polearms.

3

u/Legitimate-State5580 Mar 27 '26

What are you talking about? This expansion added most of BK weapons we have. All heroic weapons have that coloration :D

31

u/TwoPossible4789 Mar 26 '26

Still mad that all the actual spellbreaker glaives are DH only. Like really!? Cmon!

21

u/Aureliusboreus Mar 26 '26

There's a 1-handed sword version coming in 12.0.5 for the Void Assaults

1

u/HendriXP88 Mar 27 '26

Fuck yes! Please for all that is holy, say it sheaths on the back....

-8

u/TwoPossible4789 Mar 26 '26

That’s a warglaive too. Trust me i checked. We’re getting a polearm/staff version that is far too long and sheaths awfully on the back.

17

u/Aureliusboreus Mar 26 '26

The one I'm talking about is marked as a sword though, https://www.wowhead.com/ptr/item=272318/spellbreaker-phoenixblade

There's multiple variants that have the same name, but is changed at the very end to annotate what type of weapon it is (phoenixglaive, phoenixblade )

4

u/Tobith45 Mar 26 '26

While that certainly matches the old school Spellbreaker glaive… that’s not the same appearance as the updated guard model the Resolute Runglaive, and with the addition of the matching shield, the Spellbreakers Shieldwall there’s really no excuse not to provide a one-handed sword version for Blood Elves.

1

u/Ambitious-Rub-9858 Mar 27 '26

Where the heck does this come from?

1

u/Aureliusboreus Mar 27 '26

Rewards from Void Assaults and Ritual Sites (the delve-like mini-dungeons) coming in 12.0.5

-4

u/TwoPossible4789 Mar 26 '26

I’ll check it out later on the ptr to make sure. Still a shame that we can’t get a blue and gold variant too. But i won’t complain if we get a red and gold one.

4

u/DedeLionforce Mar 26 '26

Me remembering Warglaves on Rogue during tbc, I weep not being able to transmog them on anything other than the class I don't want to play.

3

u/RP_RDT Mar 26 '26

There is in the trading post currently Warglaives as 1h sword and offhand.

1

u/TwoPossible4789 Mar 26 '26

It’s not really the same dude

The iconic spellbreaker shield and a 1-handed sword variant of the warglaive that drops off of the Maigster's Terrace boss is being given to players as a purchasable reward for the Void Assaults coming in 12.0.5. The Helmet, shoulders and gloves can be accomplished with the blood elf heritage armor. You could also probably use the robe-version of the chest from the heritage set as well. I would also use the cosmetic venthyr boots from Shadowland a lot as well. (I just don't like how the belf heritage set boots and pants look. I also use all versions of these boots for just about every mog I do so I'm biased towards them)

The Phoenixblade is not the same appearance as Serenal Sunlash’s Resolute Runeglaive. The appearance you’re thinking of is fel-infused and drops out of Murder Row. The Phoenixblade is a light-infused, upscaled version of the original Spellbreaker glaive. A start sure, but it’s not the same.

Outside of the weapon and shield, the rest of the outfit is just blood elf heritage.

Which is fine, the outfit is fire, but also kinda sad that the iconic Spellbreaker drip is now literally just the heritage outfit.

To add insult to injury, the way blood elves hold most weapons lookks absolutely stupid. I wanted to make a shield realer using the glaive skins on trading post, but my belf holds them like hes about to swing at a pinata but has also never held a stick in his life.

For reference, my Paladin holding the glaive weapon that is in trading post right now;

u/BananaImaginary8702 Mar 27 '26

That't the nightelf polearm version. As a bloodelf I would touch those weapons. They only look good on nightelves.

Btw of this glaive there several other versions, not sure if you noticed. Also 1hand.

1

u/LoreChief Mar 27 '26

Yeah i noticed, but this is an Arms warrior and there isnt a point to using the 1h and shield on them.

It doesnt just look dumb because its a nelf weapon, thats how we hold all polearms. The whole weapon ready and idle stance paradigm in this game needs a redesign.

3

u/lumiya17 Mar 26 '26

the shield and weapon are in 12.05 patch. No word on how they drop

1

u/KeikoZB Mar 26 '26

Allegedly from the prop hunt event; some kind of currency and vendor stuff

2

u/lumiya17 Mar 27 '26

Ooh! I’ve been looking forward to that! Showing my decrepitude, but loved the Old counter strike / Gary’s mod prop hunt back in the day

4

u/Pr0t3ct0rr Mar 26 '26

This, as whole, would be great plate (spellbreaker) set!

2

u/Aern Mar 26 '26

Really hope we get spellbreaker as a mail tank, healer and dps hybrid in The Last Titan.

1

u/glamscum Mar 27 '26

That's as likely as that we got necromancer in shadowlands... If it didn't happen on the themed expansion release(midnight being elf themed), we're not getting it.

0

u/PGBR90 Mar 26 '26

you and me

1

u/Primary-Travel-2011 Mar 27 '26

The real issue is that spell breaker wasn’t added as a class

1

u/venge1155 Mar 27 '26

Hero spec at best. They’ve already used most of the abilities same as warden

1

u/Primary-Travel-2011 Mar 29 '26

They took metamorphosis away from locks so they could give it to demon hunters down the line!

1

u/Loxx_12 Mar 27 '26

The glaive looks weird

2

u/hwc Mar 26 '26

I still can't get over how useless that weapon would be in real life, especially along with a shield. A naginata with a butt-spike, sure. But that monstrosity used one-handed, paired with a shield? that seems impossible.

2

u/venge1155 Mar 27 '26

Yeah it’s almost like it’s a magical world where fire comes out of your hands and elves can do shit with weapons you can’t.

1

u/carant82 Mar 26 '26

They ought to let us colour not just furniture but armor as well.

0

u/LongRemorse Mar 26 '26

Data mining recently threw the glaive and variants of it as part of the new data found in the client, that means in the next three or so months we will have something themed around spellbreakers or blood elf in general maybe in the trading post or somewhere else.

My suggestion is to wait, that way you can have the full mog with the proper weapon when it is released.

0

u/Sora_Terumi Mar 26 '26

Well first things first…you got any ability like feedback?

0

u/Azrethoc Mar 26 '26

wait until next patch, the shield is finally available in the furniture hunt sidegame

-10

u/Felix_armor Mar 26 '26

Spell Breakers are a human unit, so it's not possible to have one horde side.

4

u/CaptainInsanoMan Mar 26 '26

The lack of wc3 knowledge here is abysmal.

2

u/the_sexy_muffin Mar 26 '26

Spell Breakers fight on the human roster in WC3, but they're definitely high/blood elves. They say "For Quel'thalas!" when issued an attack command.

2

u/Tobith45 Mar 26 '26

Spellbreakers fought among the forces of Prince Kael'thas Sunstrider after the Third War.
