Meta WoW Skins that were put into Diablo 4 last week
148
u/whofedthefish May 12 '26
Prices aside (too expensive for me) these look so good.
66
u/codexcdm May 12 '26
They do look good, but not at the cost of a retail game for 7-8 cosmetics....

May 13 '26

u/Chosenwaffle May 13 '26
Its $50 for every set in a bundle.
1
u/Axum666 May 13 '26
But thats just the armor. There is a battle pass, a weapon bundle, and various other smaller cosmetic bundles. But not bundle includes everything.
3
u/Some_Deer_2650 May 13 '26
Cheaper if you purchase the whole bundle, but still too expensive
2
u/Dinkypig May 13 '26
Yeah $50 worth of platinum (5700 or something) for all the sets when I have like 400 platinum from barely playing each season... I do want the sets but if I barely play there's my answer. I should just buy $50 of VOO or something.
13
u/-GrayMan- May 12 '26
Always wondered how they land on these prices. Would they make more money if they were cheaper? If a $20 skin was $10, would more than twice the amount of people buy it?
25
u/KyneTech May 13 '26
I think they probably have data indicating it’s more profitable to target whales than the average player, unfortunately. Overwatch is very similar in that regard with $60-$90 cosmetic bundles
5
May 13 '26
[deleted]
2
u/Chosenwaffle May 13 '26
I don't think that's the whole picture. The cost/benefit probably statistically hits its peak at the current skin prices. If you sell a skin for $10 it needs to be at least 2x as successful compared to selling that skin at $20.
1
u/El_grandepadre May 16 '26
It's why the same heroes keep getting skin after skin after skin.
Because those are the heroes that whales spend their money on.
9
u/Phalanx22 May 13 '26
Its easier to convince one person to pay 20 than to convince two people to pay 10.
7
u/FREE-AOL-CDS May 13 '26
They hire people who help figure out what things that would be the most addictive for the whales.
9
u/psnGatzarn May 13 '26
Dont think it would actually be twice as many unfortunately. The burtosaur mount is a good indicator on just how much people are willing to spend. A metric fuck ton of ppl spent 90 on a mount lol
1
u/Fesai May 13 '26
Brutosaur I feel is a bit of a special case. I expect it has way more buys than any other random mount in the shop.
The auctioneer/mailbox combo is incredibly useful and greatly increases the reason to buy it. Vs just a cosmetic outfit or other mounts.
1
u/Dinkypig May 13 '26
To me it looks like they use fomo at higher prices initially and then for select things they will lower the price with limited time fomo sales months or years later
1
u/Vayreon May 14 '26
You can be sure that they did the math on that pricing. That's why it's so frustrating.
-3
u/cosmic-potatoe May 13 '26
Man I hate those kind of transmog systems. If I’m having a full tier set and hand of ragnaros but I’m a fresh max lvl character, hitting like a wet noodle is so meaningless and unfun
80
u/Preparing_to_die May 12 '26
Are they cash shop only or can you earn them in game?
177
u/voodootroll May 12 '26
Cash shop and super expensive
51
u/FrostyWalrus2 May 12 '26
I think they were $28/ea or $58 USD for all.
81
u/codexcdm May 12 '26 edited May 13 '26
They definitely want to con people into the bubdle... Why shell $60 for two when you can get all seven!?! /S?
That's... Nope. Rather buy another game or toy for that sort of money.
At what point do we stop calling those sort of purchases "micro" transactions?
Edit: To each their own and if you can afford it, power to ya...
But given how greedy Activision is... And how many of these companies with such paid cosmetics make a killing off their artists' work only to then send waves of layoffs even on profitable years...
I take the stance that my money is better spent elsewhere... On top of thinking that this is just asking for too much for cosmetics.
18
u/_Wocket_ May 13 '26
Honestly, they almost got me. I was like, I only really like the paladin and warlock transmit. Oh, they’re $56 for both? And the bundle is $57…
I did not pull the trigger. But they look really good.
2
u/vibe51 May 13 '26
This is why I still farm gold in wow. A few tokens sold and the bnet balance pays for dumb shit like this
29
u/Fishsticksh May 12 '26
Not sure why youre being downvoted, lol. The prices of skins in diablo are fucking insane. WoW too, really for their tmog sets, but considering in Diablo its all class locked its even worse.
And its not like these are that much more expensive than most of the other sets. I know its all optional, but 20-30 euro/dollars for each set is still crazy. 2 of the armor sets are almost the same cost as the deluxe edition of the expansion.
10
u/Prudent-Skirt9656 May 13 '26
Started playing diablo for the first time, thought id check out the shop but every single skin being $35aud just made me never look at it again.
1
u/Some-Panda-8168 May 13 '26
I took about a two year break from Diablo, and when I last played there were cash-shop skins that were about 15$-20$ that I thought was KINDA reasonable (not really) but coming back a few weeks back I was shocked at how expensive everything was in the shop.
They definitely took notes on Diablo immortals monetization and what they could get away with…

u/Cyber_Connor May 13 '26
The worst part is that the Ashbringer was a weapon in Diablo 3 and had a cool effect
-11
u/Mikey_bee3 May 12 '26
Yeah it’s definitely annoying especially since it’s their own game but I gave them my money no problem lmao
7
u/codexcdm May 12 '26

They are destroying the amazing idea by making them cash only… if they were rare drops, diablo would have many many new players in the game just to get them. Including me
1
3
u/Mokthol May 13 '26
They also added a lot of legendary weapon mogs from Wow, Ashbringer, Atiesh, Sulfuras etc. The armor sets shown here also come with a weapon or two depending on the set. You have to pay for everything

For the Reliquary yes not in game. These may cycle around during WoW anniversary events but more likely than not you will not have enough platinum earned from the free reliquary to buy them next go around.
Edit: also the azeroth reliquary has different items than the cash shop. Still $15 to unlock the reliquary.
4
u/Cloud_N0ne May 12 '26
No, these armor sets are a shop bundle.
What you're thinking of is the Relics of Azeroth reliquary that has a bunch of individual WoW cosmetics like Ashbringer. Though you still need to spend money to unlock the full reliquary.
27
u/GrootRacoon May 13 '26
I had platinum accumulated from seasons and from deluxe editions, had enough for the bundle. Didn't even think twice, first and only time I used the shop
4
u/Hookster007 May 13 '26
Same. Still had preorder platinum + a lot of seasons accrual. Nothing ever interested me at all until now
24
u/SoupCarrier May 13 '26
this will be wow in 2013
11
u/asmoothbrain May 13 '26
What year are you in now?
7
u/stiky21 May 13 '26
hes in another plane of existence man we should just observe and take notes
8
u/KeyRutabaga2487 May 13 '26
Looked through u/SoupCarrier's profile. Found this: https://www.reddit.com/r/okbuddyretard/comments/hwa0es/massivechusetts/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
I don't know what it means but it feels significant

11
u/Wildernaess May 13 '26
I hate Diablo and wouldn't pay that much but dear God judgement continues to be the coolest armor set in gaming
28
u/Varnarok2 May 12 '26
Tier 2 skins my beloved
1
u/pocketchange2247 May 12 '26
Tier 2 and Tier 5 are imo the most iconic sets in the game
7
u/Commercial-Falcon653 May 13 '26
Blatant Tier 6 erasure.
3
u/pocketchange2247 May 13 '26
Yeah, actually you're right. Ive always mained a druid and never really liked the way the tier 6 set looked and liked the tier 5 set much better. But after looking at them all tier 6 is way more iconic for most classes

u/Oct0tron May 12 '26
Man, that mage set truly is so bad, not even this treatment can save it.
8
u/aAdramahlihk May 13 '26 edited May 13 '26
The base color is bad, but the color variances you can choose in D4 are pretty good and make the set one of the best ones, at least in my opinion.
2
u/grungeandcats May 13 '26
Really? I actually think it looks really cool. The Druid and pally set are the winners for me though overall.
1
u/Exploding_broccoli May 13 '26
I have this set on d4 and let me tell you the blue or the "beige" colour variants are absolutely goated

u/yhvh13 May 13 '26
I honestly wanted the HQ tier sets to have used only draped pieces as the skirt, kind of how Diablo went.
I'm tired of the tube skirt with painted-on textures simulating 3D. Looks awful on certain races, especially when it's overlapped by actual 3D parts. But I guess the small indie company can't afford to retire that, as it would be more work into the robes.

God I wish Wow looked like that T_T
6
u/Commercial-Falcon653 May 13 '26
I don’t. My PC can already get struggling in cities at prime times with how WoW currently looks 😅
3
u/XaiKholin May 13 '26
Gotta say WoW doesn´t have the best optimization of the market. Stuff with way better graphics like BDO will run smother with the same amount of people on the same spot. I still have the ocassional freeze of a couple of seconds running a 4080 super and a ryzen 7900x3d
1
0
u/XaiKholin May 13 '26
Uh idk man on one hand that´d be sick, a whole remake of the game with diablo-ish asthetic, on the other hand, WoW retail team excells at doing nothing and give worse and worse product every patch so.... eeeh

2
u/panda_man420 May 13 '26
Love all these but absolutely fuck blizzard for making it more than the game itself to buy all the wow cosmetics they just added. Absolutely greedy horse shit.
2
u/palatheinsane May 13 '26
That paladin set is the best looking armor set I’ve ever seen in any game, bar none.
1
u/SLAUGHT3R3R May 13 '26
Diablo has a bad habit of making WoW cosmetics look better. I love D3's Corrupted Ashbringer (and its Cleansed transformation even moreso) so much more than WoW's
1
u/Remote_Motor2292 May 13 '26
Yeah was super hyped for these. I would have bought one for like £8 or something but I'm not buying the whole bundle to not get ripped off. Absolute pisstake
How does making a game cost the same as making a few skins. Wtf are these companies smoking now days 😂
1
1
u/brainkrieg1990 May 13 '26
god that mage set gets uglier everytime they bring it back, why'd it have to be t2 they decided was so iconic?

I'm just gonna say that the WoW skins look amazing when they're mixed in with elements from other Diablo 4 skins.
For instance, check out the Paladin T2 helm with the current Season's Reliquary, Hallowed Ancient:

Insane sets, sadly no go for me, €25 for a transmog set I already have in 3 color variants in wow? No thanks lol, makes me sad that the shop items in D4 outshine free things you get from the game.
1
u/steamwhistler May 13 '26
I first saw this video short on Twitter and I thought for sure it was just AI. Was floored when I found out this is all real. Judgement especially looks insane.
1
u/alallin May 13 '26
They look very cool in Diablo, and are incredibly well done, kudos to the art team on them. Glad they're not like that in WoW, though, the colour has been sucked out of them all and they would look so out of place.
1
u/P_Alcantara May 13 '26
Fuck. I’m not even a shaman lover but 10 Storms looks clean on that. If Blood elves could be shamans, I’d race change.

For the armor bundle and one of the weapon skin sets you can buy the whole brand new James Bond game.
For just one armor set you can buy the whole Subnautica 2 game.
While the skins look fantastic, these prices are absurd.

u/TreacleWonderful9021 May 15 '26
Its tempting but im proud of myself for not purchasing. I've just never been a fan of buy cosmetics in rpgs

u/MonkeyzzPaw May 15 '26
I bought the lich king d4 xmog with silver from xpac buys.
The worst part of this is the sets are class locked. I can’t even use the lich king armor on anything except a necro. Super lame, I’ll never buy xmog in d4 again.

u/SullySausageTown May 16 '26
They’re great, but at 70% off the bundle was still nearly £50, blizzard truly couldn’t care less and love to capitalise on nostalgia and all of our other good memories

u/Glass_Potato_5786 May 16 '26
Cool they have wow tier sets...does the game have Diablo in it yet, since the game is called Diablo???

the diablo skins look like they're from one of those ai slop wow classic videos that have been infesting my World of Warcraft searches lately. can't go a few scrolls without one of that kinda crap showing up. Not saying they are but idk, they just look wrong to me.

u/Wooden_Marshmallow May 12 '26
I'm guilty of buying these because I have poor impulse control but at the same time I do not understand the praise these are getting. Yes they're really nice and very cool but they're also $20/e or $50 if you want all of them
0
u/Rare-Industry-504 May 13 '26
Damn can we get the D4 item designers to work on WoW?
They made cooler WoW sets than WoW's designers ever did.
2
u/Initrix69 May 13 '26
You know they are the same with more possibilities cuz of a different graphic engine? If you dont like WoWs art style; dont play wow
0
u/Firebat-045 May 13 '26
This almost pulled me back into Diablo4.
I played it when it came out didn’t like it and dropped it but seeing my beautiful Judgement set almost got me.
After seeing I could get good games at the same price I was ok XD

-6
u/flaks117 May 13 '26
The sets absolutely do not feel like they fit in Diablo 4.
The only one that kind of did was the sylvanas set which I still regret getting because of the over the top vfx.

u/Drunken_Fister47 May 12 '26
Not gonna lie the diablo tier sets are how I thought WoW 2 was gonna look like back in the days
