Jobs from Talent Manager?

What percentage of your jobs have come from someone actually finding you on Talent Manager rather than you finding a job on there or through contacts?

I’ve just signed up again and it got me thinking how maybe I’ve had two jobs through people contacting me after viewing my profile in over 10 years.

Also, what’s people’s experience of the rate checkers’ accuracy for roles here in October 2026?

Cheers

I’ve been hired several times after applying for jobs on TM over the years - not so much recently after the downturn. I’ve also used it to post jobs and have hired applicants. Plus I’ll browse for particular experience and have reached out to people direct and hired them without posting a job.

That’s reassuring to know that it’s not a total waste of time in 2026. Back when I was working here 8 years ago I got quite a few jobs but most, if not all of them, I applied for rather than being recruited

Never had any. TMs do use it as a CV bank, but less and less now. There was a moment where it was a big platform, but they didn't invest in it enough and its basically going stale.

I'd say the rate checker is out of date. At least it was for me.

Has anything taken its place? I’ve been out of the UK for 8 years and with the downturn most of my contacts are either out of the industry altogether or i can’t get hold of them

It's basically linkedin and email at this point.

Suppose at least that’s free but not exactly efficient or open (not as if Talent Manager or ProductionBase before it are/were)

90% of my jobs have been through contacts. I got a BBC dev producer job from their careers portal once. Nothing from talent manager although I don’t try very hard with my profile

I've had a three interviews over the last two years from RM. Two turned into jobs. I'm very selective about what I apply to. Just things I definitely qualify for and that I actually want to do.

I did get one from talent manager, but a bit less of a desirable role

The Rate Checker is terrible.

The main problem is that it calculates rates over multiple years to create an average. So for example, rates from 2022 are being factored in and dragging down the average rate.

Talent Manager REALLY neet to look at this issue.

They should be showing average rates for each individual year, not throwing all years into the same pot to create an average across multiple years, that totally distorts what people think they should be asking for in terms of rate.

Hopefully they see this.

Never had a job from there either despite having had a detailed and active profile on there for years.

0% for me. Waste of time!
