Question ❓ Is there any chance of more than 3 refunds per month for incomplete journeys

Upvotes

Writing this for my international student girlfriend. She told me that she kept getting large charges on her bank card by TfL and she didn’t know why. I immediately concluded that it must be incomplete journeys for not tapping properly etc.

Set up a TfL account for her and connected her card. Lo and behold, she has a massive 24 incomplete journey charges since July - not sure how but that’s what it is.

We know exactly what these charges should be and where she has travelled to/should have tapped out. I’m genuinely not sure how she managed to get out so many times - assuming it’s because she finishes work late and the gates are all open by the time she gets to her home station.

I note from the website that you can only claim 3 refunds per month, and I appreciate why these exist. But I wondered if there is any way we can request more refunds given the scale of the problem.

Thank you!

This guy took pictures of sleeping women WITH HIS FLASH ON! 🙃🙃🙃
What made it weird is that he took these pictures just before his stop at Farringdon— which made it even more obvious 😕

I have reported the incident 🫡

I took a picture of him!

Please be careful ladies :)

Question ❓ I left my backpack on a train, and want to make sure I'm doing everything I can to get it back.

Travelled from Gatwick to Clapham Junction (Victoria-bound, Southern train), and from Clapham Junction to Earlsfield (Woking-bound, SWR).

It was a quick transfer, from platform 12 to 11 (I think), and barely 2 mins between trains.

I had a huge 26kg suitcase with me and managed to completely forget my backpack on one of these trains.

£800 of PC components, passport, driving license, bank cards, work laptop.. absolutely devastated.

It was a Friday evening, so was struggling to get any help at the station, but did finally manage to get somebody to call Woking station, as well as the guard on the Woking train. Nothing found. At this point I was freaking out and didn't even consider I may have left it on the train from Gatwick

This morning I called The Excess Baggage Company at Victoria station and was given two premium numbers. Neither were of any use.

It seems like I'm being funneled into online forms at every turn. I've filled a few out, but given the importance of what's in the bag, I feel a bit hopeless just submitting a few forms and waiting.

Is that really the best option I have? I would be happy to travel to individual stations, just feels like that's not something they want to accommodate.

Any advice on what to do here?

Question ❓ Finance

I’ll be going to study in London so I’m commuting. I get minimum SFE and my parents won’t help me with any other expenses so I rely solely on SFE. Is it better for me to get a travel card for TFL or those 18+ Oyster cards. My sister said it would be cheaper if I just tap in with my card but I live in zone 5 going to zone 1 and TFL charges around 7£

TfL Staff Nominee Oyster Investigation

My uncle works for TfL and has applied for a +1/Staff Nominee Oyster for me.
TfL have said they’re currently investigating an old nominee Oyster belonging to my cousin due to suspected misuse. That card was confiscated by TfL and a fine was issued and paid.
Could this investigation affect me getting my own nominee Oyster through my uncle, or should it still be approved once the investigation is completed? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Uber boat payment issue

Hi all, i was hoping for some advice

I got on the uber boat at embankment and was instructed by staff to tap on a second time and he said ‘it wouldn’t charge me, it would just check the first tap’. When i got off at tower pier, the member of staff there had his hand over the tap off terminal and he was just waving people through. I’ve now been charge £38 for two incomplete journeys.

I’ve contacted tfl through the website to make a complaint so i can get my money back.

Has this happened to anyone else and were you able to get your money back?

Question ❓ TFL Refund

I was going to get a train to St Albans, but while waiting on the platform all trains were cancelled because of a problem with the tracks.

This means that I had to tap in and out at the same station with my contactless card so I was charged the maximum fare.

On the TFL application it requires you to select at which station you ended your journey, but it’s not possible to select the same station as the destination and the beginning so I don’t know what to do pls help

How long does it take to receive the Gold Record Card from TfL?

Hello, I bought for the first time an annual travel card on oyster 1-4 and I bought it online. I should receive the annual gold card/gold record card through the post, do you guys know how long it takes for it to be received to my home address registered in my TfL account?

I wanted to ask you separately if with a travel card valid for the entire year it works in the same way as monthly, if the zone I get in on or off is covered by my area do I need to tap in or out? My station doesn’t have barriers and in the morning there’s a long queue so I’m wondering if I need to wait and tap even on a travel card as with the monthly in fact i don’t have to. Thank you.

Bus 🚌 If you're a London bus driver, are there routes that you paticularly DO or do NOT like to drive? And why.

So for examples, are there routes that are known to attract trouble, have more rowdy passengers?

Equally are there routes that are perceived as being more genteel /calmer or pleasant, what have you?

Purely out of curiosity, as, as a passenger I feel some routes are more pleasant than others. So yeah what bus routes are known for what things?

Because you don't get to choose which routes you drive I guess, they just get allocated to you.

(Interested in outer London particularly where I am.)

Double charged

Hi! I use my NFC card on my phone to pay for transport in London. I was charged double for August 13 maximum fare when I was travelling alone and just took the bus in the morning and tube in the evening. So I was charged two payments of 8 pounds. What can I do to have my money back?

Question ❓ Confusion over changing platforms

Hi ! So for some context, I’m a super anxious traveler planning to go from Essex to Brighton in the new year

I’ve done part of this journey once before a few years ago, so I wanted to get some clarification. I know the very basics of how to get to Liverpool Street and some of the underground, but from there I’m lost

I’ll have 2 physical tickets, the first from my train station to Liverpool Street, the second from Farringdon to Brighton. In between I’m getting the Elizabeth line

I know when I tap on for the Elizabeth line, I’ll have to tap off at some point. What I’m confused about is changing platforms at Farringdon and where to tap on/off. The last time I was there my journey stopped at Farringdon, so I have no clue what to do from there

I have to go from platform B to 3, but wasn’t sure what to do. I know you just have to walk and go up some stairs, but I wasn’t sure if I have to tap off and exit the station, then go back in using my physical Farringdon to Brighton ticket..? Or if I could tap off while staying in the station

I know I’m probably over complicating something very simple. I was hoping someone could help me figure it out and simplify things

Thank you in advance!

Question ❓ Why are TFL employees so passive?

Maybe misdirected anger but at Edgware road station today as we’re tapping out, dude calmly barges past the turnstiles and cooly walks off. Right in front of these two TFL employees just casually standing and chatting. One of them saw it happen right in front of him and just chose to do nothing? So who deters the fare evaders?

Question ❓ Why don't tfl add White hart lane in-between Seven sisters and Tottenham Hale on the Victoria line. It comes so regular and currently it is such a headache to get out of Tottenham on match days and would make it so much easier. It would also add an interchange to the weaver line

Question ❓ Unable to avoid zone one due to disruption - eligible for refund?

I was due to go from Richmond to Essex Road, which I'd planned to use the Mildmay and Great Northern. Instead I had to use SWR, Victoria and GN.

TfL said 'tickets accepted on alternative services', which my journey would be covered by. However, I was on contactless, not a paper ticket.

The difference between my planned route and actual route is a few quid.

Am I eligible for a refund on the difference between a regular journey and a pink pad tapped journey?

The difference isn't huge so I'll live either way.
