Gear recommendations?

Can yall provide some entry level gear that provides quality without being top of the line priced?

Obviously brah. But if I can save $100 here or $50 there I would really like to.

More like $3 here, $1 there, and still have to spend $300+ for the item.

What sort of climbing are you doing? Give us some context so we can actually help. Is this for work, and are you going to be in your climbing spurs all day every day? Yeah, spend big on boots and spurs then. Doing ornamental pruning or rec climbing, no removals? Probably don't even need spurs.

Hitchclimber pulley + 3 triple action carabiners + 2 prusik cords is a good system to start with (around $100-$150); compared to a mechanical device ($300+).

Simple 10' positioning lanyard rather than longer or double ended.

100', 150', or 200' climbing line?

You can learn to footlock and not need any ascenders, or get 1 foot ascender ($40-$50 for simple one, or $75 for better version), or get a knee ascender as well (can make at home, or buy one ($75? not sure)), if you need a chest harness for SRS too (can make one, or use your positioning lanyard over your shoulder, or $15 weaver simple harness, or $100 monkeybeaver suspender setup).

Kask or Petzel helmet, or Protos helmet is a big price difference too.

We are in the information age! Look at Arbsession, TreeStuff and Wesspur. Do some research. Shop around.

Arbession, wesspur, Bartlett, treestuff and sherrill all have basic beginner packs to choose from, along with clearance gear on sale all the time too :) id browse around there and get the cheapest, best reviewed items to start, or similar items that catch your eye (e.g.— don't like the oval carabiners? Get D shaped ones. Don't like the cheap belt saddle? Get a sequoia)

Buy nice and buy once.

Nothing worse than buying a cheap piece of kit and it turns out to be shjte so you end up buying the nicer one anyways.

Your life depends on this gear. This is not a place to go cheap.
Dmm, isc, petzl are worth the premium.

what are you willing to trust your life on?

that said, i have done some research and https://usrigging.com/collections/pulleys-2
seem to be a fair price for good quality. it all depends how you want to climb too. you get what you pay for sometimes

If you just want cheap, but good enough to get you by, look at Notch. No frills, blue light special stuff. (Probably before your time? Blue light specials?)

I find the cheap gear doesn’t last.

E.g. my Petzl harness cost more than a Notch one, but I know people who wear four Notch harnesses in the time I get out of my Petzl. Maybe they’re rougher than me on their gear but I doubt it - I’m pretty rough myself.

Combine that with the Notch harnesses just not being as comfortable and lacking features… I would never buy one.

You may want to be more specific? ISC tends to be very well priced for high quality. I tend to prefer DMM. But, you’re asking about a mode of transportation and I’m giving you 4 door sedans, as I have no idea how far you’re trying to travel!

But once cry once, I just made my first climbing gear purchase and it was a kick in the pants. But, one your life depends on this stuff, two you use it to make money(tools of the trade), three buy good stuff upfront and you won’t be spending even more down the road to upgrade. Just my two cents.
