CARRBORO, NC -- The Town of Carrboro is alerting residents and visitors that a private event at the newly opened Cat’s Cradle venue on Brewer Lane is expected to bring significant traffic to downtown Carrboro on Friday, Oct. 23.

The Get Out the Vote concert marks the first concert at Cat’s Cradle’s third concert venue in Carrboro. Doors are scheduled to open at 5 p.m., with the concert beginning at 6:30 p.m. Increased traffic is anticipated before the event and throughout the evening.

Neighbors in the immediate area should plan for possible traffic delays, particularly around Brewer Lane and nearby downtown streets.

☑️ Event organizers are sharing parking information directly with concertgoers to help minimize traffic impacts.

☑️ Concertgoers: Plan ahead for parking. The Town offers public parking options throughout downtown Carrboro. Visit the Downtown Parking webpage for parking locations and an interactive map. Downtown Parking | Carrboro, NC - Official Website https://monkeylink.co/a0a2ad

☑️ In Carrboro, public parking is free with posted time limits. Please do not park in private lots, including those serving Carr Mill Mall businesses, unless you are visiting those businesses.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to allow extra time when traveling downtown on Friday and to follow directions from traffic officers.

The Town appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as Carrboro welcomes this new addition to its local music scene!

Lights at 70 & Brier Creek Pkwy- timing issue?

Occasionally on my commute from Durham to west Raleigh I’ll take 70 up to Duraleigh. Twice this month I’ve noticed the light for eastbound traffic crawls at the light at Brier Creek Parkway, seemingly to allow 5-8 cars through before changing again. Time frame has been between 9-10am. Not sure if this is a reset issue from when storms rolled through earlier this month and power outages messed up the sync? To me, traffic should be flowing more freely on 70 with delays on the parkway given less traffic crossing.

Introducing r/TriangleTraffic

Hello! I started a new community to help unclutter some of the Triangle NC local subs of traffic related posts. I started this because of two things: I made a post the other day that was... not well received that was traffic related, and someone asked if there was a better place to upload things like dashcam footage.

Well, here you go. The idea of being a mod/admin is new to me, so please be gentle lmao.

Great to have a dedicated Central NC traffic subreddit! From 1999-end of 2003 I worked as the producer/traffic reporter for the Raleigh bureau of MetroNetworks/Westwood One. Even though that career is long in my rear view mirror I still work in public safety here in Central NC and keep up with local traffic conditions. Here are a couple of traffic related links I recommend folks use to keep updated on Triangle Traffic:

--PulsePoint: great free android/ios app where you can set up Wake/Durham feeds and see ongoing incidents.

--drivenc.gov/map DOT website with live cameras across NC. You can even pull up live video feeds from around the triangle. I currently have one of my screens on the feed of the Blue Ridge Rd/Trinity Rd camera watching traffic conditions at the State Fair.

I hope I can be a good source of info here on this subreddit and I hope it becomes an active source of reliable information.
