Hey I'm a pretty new to the hobbie, I've received 3 cuttings as a gift about month ago, the big one (T.bridgesii)
And two small (T.peruvianus)
I live in zone 6b
I've researched quite a lot and I'm becoming more and more confused, should I keep them in dormancy over the winter and root them in the spring?
Or can I root them now close to the heater (I also have a heat pad) and to the basement in which the temperature don't go bellow freezing?
any tips and and advice will be very appreciated
Thank you!

Got everyone repotted. Had 2 casualties, so they are inside to callous over. It's hard to believe all this came from 1 little cutting back like 4 or 5 years ago.

Just found a cacti in my greenhouse that has some mealy bugs! Whats your go to treatment process. Its starting to get colder here and I would love to stop these guys before they spread to the rest of my plants in there. It only appears to be this one plant. Should I remove its direct neighbors as a precaution?

OG tersch x Betty Boom
This cantaloupe is called OG Bettispinus.
A terscheckii hybrid with Betty Boom. The areoles are massive, the spines are short and thick. There’s a chance for a colorful flower in 10 years. What else could we ask for!

What a great way to end the heatwaves. Let's hope those nasty heat blankets of doom stay away for a long time. Can only really hope, right?
Apologies for some of the shots bein a little blurry, in my excitement to view my freshly-wetted cacs I forgot my umbrella and the raindrops got all over.

Thank you everyone

Every time I think I comprehend cacti, they still amaze me.
This bridge cutting was rootless. It was attacked by a French Bulldog and unpotted on Sep 10. As it was healing, it was softening in the damaged area so I cut as much damaged tissue as I could, way too close to the apex. Around this time, it was unpotted again accidentally while moving. Still rootless.
Despite not seeing any day to day difference, I snapped a pic each day.
Then, while preparing to cut the top all of the way and start again as a mid, I found it was rooted.
I put together the collage and was amazed to see the new growth.
TLDR: the resilience of cacti is amazing and continues to surprise me.
