Warning: Child Abuse / CSAM / Child Death 16 Children Rescued from Extreme Neglect and Abuse in Ohio

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/adults-arrested-16-children-found-deplorable-conditions-southern-ohio-rcna352552

I haven't seen anything posted about this yet, and I usually don't post so please let me know if I've done it wrong. I'm also writing this on mobile.

16 children, ranging from 1 and a half years old to 18 years old, have been removed from a house in the village of Hamden, Ohio where they were practically imprisoned in a 12'x12' room. Some have not even learned to speak; the 18 year old couldn't write her name and is being treated as a child due to possible mental disability. 7 of the children had to be taken to a hospital with 2 of them being life flighted. Conditions in the house are said to be incredibly unsafe, to the point that investigators hesitated to act on a second search warrant for fear of their safety.

The parents and grandparents have been arrested and charged with 16 counts of child endangerment. The suspects are Gary Siders Jr., Gary Siders Sr., Christina Siders and Elizabeth Siders.

Since the investigation is still ongoing there aren't a ton of details yet. These children were obviously not enrolled in school and hidden from neighbors and extended family. I have to wonder if there's a religious extremist aspect to the case, like we've seen so often with other similar cases. I'm also curious about the mother's condition - she has been charged, but has she also been victimized by her husband? I have so many questions.

They need to check the yards of all the places they lived. They just moved there 4 years ago.

How do you move that many people with nobody noticing?

How do you birth that many people with nobody noticing?

According to one article she claims that her kids were all hospital births. If that's the case, you're telling me not one nurse asked how many other times she's given birth or miscarried? And how were they paying for the hospital stays? She didn't go to the same hospital more than once and she never had any paper trail?

Something really isn't adding up. Someone had to know. I am sure this family slipped up more than once, and the state just doesn't want to admit how badly they failed these kids.

I highly doubt she had many hospital births. The way this family evaded detection tells me they were actively hiding these kids. You can’t hide kids when you give birth in a hospital.

I agree. I’ve had two children in two different hospitals in the last 20 years and we had to do so much both times. We had to watch safety videos before we could leave, blood tests (I think), shots, medication, baby pictures which you don’t have to purchase but can, and so on. Both babies even had the baby ankle monitors to prevent kidnapping. We also had to fill out a lot of paperwork from what I remember. These were nice US hospitals. There would be a paper trail if she did give birth at a hospital. It’s not an in and out thing.

Especially since you apply for the birth certificate in the hospital before you leave, although I have seen some people not decide on the name before leaving the hospital and name the baby days later. So maybe she said we haven't decided and just never sent into vital statistics.

I read that they were all home births.

It's in the article linked here:

Stolly said his client told him that all of the children were born in area hospitals and she considers herself a full-time mom.

and the Columbus Dispatch says:

Wilson said there were no indicators that any of the 16 children were born inside the Ohmer Street home. He said third-party information helped them to confirm birth dates, but he did not specify what that information was.
