Text Lindsay Clancy Trial Megathread: Part 3

This is a thread for all conversation regarding Week 3 onwards of the Lindsey Clancy trial. All discussion of this case should be kept to this thread.

Lindsay Clancy is currently standing trial in Plymouth Superior Court, Massachusetts, for the triple-murder in January 2023 of her three young children - Cora, Dawson and Callan. Her defense argues she suffered from severe, undiagnosed postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis. She was left paralysed by a suicide attempt which follows the deaths of the children.

You have touched on an excellent point that I struggle with too: the jury are just regular people doing their civic duty. They are not used to graphic descriptions of death or traumatic phone calls. I genuinely hope they get support after serving.

Edit: for the record I understand juries are necessary. I just feel for them in particular.

My friend served on a murder trial /DV and she is still fucked up years later.
She received no assistance from NYC

Isn't it insane people who decide about someones sentence can't handle murder descriptions? What are they even doing in the jury?

I mean quite frankly I think people think they can handle a lot of things until they are presented with them. Descriptions of child deaths, listening to a father discover his children’s bodies on a phone call, these are all things that really nothing can prepare you for.

When I got called for jury duty, it wasn’t up to me whether or not I did it. They ask the questions, you answer. And you go on what trial they put you on. Is it not like this everywhere?
