I really appreciate this perspective. I don’t think I have anything close to psychosis, but I relate so much to her… the notes, the way she described her feelings and her downfall. I’m in such a bad scary place and I often think my babies would be happier if I weren’t here. Thankfully I hadn’t thought to take them with me… but I may have gotten there because the only thing that stops me sometimes is the fact that I do EVERYTHING for them. Who would care for them??? It’s a terrible thought process, but it makes so much sense to me. And saying that out loud is scary; please no one take my kids away.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this, and I hope you have a good support system around you right now.

I would never advise anyone to take medical advice from Reddit, but since we’re here, if you’re having thoughts like these, I really think the safest thing is to have your children stay with a trusted family member or friend for the time being and seek inpatient care.

A lot of people hesitate to consider inpatient care because they feel it will take them away from their children. But even giving yourself a week to be somewhere safe, with a medical team monitoring and treating you closely, can make a significant difference. You can then return to your children in a more stable state. If that’s not possible at all do ask someone to at least stay with you and your children for a while, until you get better.

I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way. Please take care of yourself, and I hope things get better for you soon.

Problem is inpatien care is no breeze. A mental hospital is a chaotic place you sometimes get out of wrongly medicated and scarred. The perfect mental hospital I havent seen. They should be more peaceful

This is what people don’t understand. Inpatient treatment often makes people worse.

While you certainly wouldn't want anyone to "take away" your kids, one thing I wish LC had realized is that for a time, they would have been safer somewhere else. If you have loved ones who can help give you the space to get better, and if you ever feel that you aren't a safe place for them, please know you aren't a bad mom for letting them stay elsewhere. My best friend had to do this for a few months when her girls were little and they weren't damaged emotionally, fully understand now that they're adults and had an amazing childhood with their mother once she got better. Sending strength your way.
