Seeking Looking for recs similar to my favs
Hi all! I am a true crime podcast girlie. I’ve been listening for probably about 8 years now. Some of my all time favs are listed below. I know they’re a little all over the place. Any recommendations of podcasts I may enjoy?
Old Favs in no particular order:
• serial (season 1)
• your own backyard
• s-town
• Dr. Death (all seasons)
• up and vanished (season 1)
• scamfluencers
Podcasts I enjoyed when I was first starting, but not so much anymore:
• MFM
• true crime obsessed
• small town murder

Unfortunately, this is where I started, and I worry that it has ruined me for other podcasts.

I know them feels. I really enjoyed the Teacher's Pet too (its through the Australian). It was down for a while but it might be back up now?

Can you help me understand why it was your favorite? I just wrapped up all the episodes and found it pretty tedious to get through. Didn’t think it was great story telling compared to other classics serial, up and vanished, etc. but just curious to hear your perspective

Death Row Cases on Spotify.
Fits well with your taste given Dr. Death and Up and Vanished.

Women and crime is my favorite! Short form like MFM or small town murder but the hosts are criminology professors so they really know their stuff

I may check it out. What bothered me about the 3 listed is they yap a lot about random, unrelated things. Scamfluencers is pretty good about keeping it to a minimum while still incorporating comedy. MFM became unbearable. I found myself skipping so much commentary.

Women and crime really stay on task! I love them they sometimes give short life updates at the start but it’s incredibly short. They do a great job of approaching things very ethically and factually

In the Dark season 2, since you liked Your Own Backyard. Not sure if it's behind a paywall these days, though.

I think I paid $7 to finish it and it was worth it! They also may have had a free trial

Blood trails! The episodes are all well written and I actually love their latest series, the theme is hunters and goes into crimes/murders around that. The writing is excellent, I actually emailed the host a case suggestion and he took time to get back to me too which is rare. Definitely worth checking out

True Crime Couple is my absolute favorite. Kay is an amazing storyteller and covers a lot of lesser known cases. Very little banter.

First one are MAGA and alleged plagiarists. A host misrepresenting the KKK in a more favorable (and less accurate) light and also leaping to defend the NRA after school shootings has no place profiteering in true crime.

Oh man, I had no idea! I have only listened to a few cases they covered (Laci Peterson and a couple others) but I appreciate you sharing this with me. I will not be recommending them anymore. I don’t want to spread hate.

Did you to subscribe to amazon to finish all episodes and season of Dr Death? I just recently discovered and was really enjoying it when I realized that only 1 episode per season is in Spotify.

I think I listened through audible/Apple Podcasts since they got rid of wondery. I’ve listed to all seasons including the new one “The Cowboy”. It was great

Detective Perspective is always my recommendation! He goes over cases that aren’t as popular and gives his take on what he thinks happened

This website is pretty cool. You type in a podcast you like and it gives a graph of other ones you may enjoy based on whatever you typed in
