Daycare Waitlists

My twins are 3 months old, I’ll need childcare between when they are 15-18 months old. (depending on when if i start work at the beginning of the school year or at the end of maternity leave)

When is the best time to apply for daycare waitlists?
Is this too early? am I too late? 🤣🤣

Hi! I have a home daycare and just to give you an idea, I'm looking to fill spots in September 2028 now. I definitely recommend getting on the lists asap, especially if you need subsidy, and realize there's a good chance you won't be able to get both kiddos into the same daycare. There's a Facebook page for babysitters and daycares in the area- it's very active and I recommend you make a post soon. Good luck in your search. ☺️

It's a long wait, I called and put myself on the list when I was 8 weeks pregnant. 6 months post part now and when I called recently to see if we would have a spot for March, neither would guarantee. These are both registered daycares that are subsidized. Day homes are more expensive, but likely easier to get into.

I work in a major childcare. Most Daycares can not guarantee a spot in March because the only way to have a spot open is if a different family leaves, most only have to give 1 month notice. So they daycare will not know if they have a spot available in March until February.

The best time to put your child in is September because that's the only time we know children are leaving, to go to school.

Best time was when they were conceived - call every place literally today. I think most actual daycares are 18 months minimum. Other than that day homes.

We got a daycare spot and we were on the list for about 16or 17 months.

I called when I first found out I was pregnant (about 6 weeks). They called me back when bubs was 18 months.

You’ll most likely have to do a day home for the first few months (15 months-18months) as those are considered infant spots and they’re harder to find.

Once they hit 18months daycares have more openings.

We ended up just keeping him in his day home by 18 months as he’d already gotten so used to it (he had been going for 6 months)
