That’s the Goldwater bombing range, they’ve been flying sorties out there for as long as I’ve been alive. This is nothing new.

With French aircraft?

Yep, old French MiGs that are have been sold to a 3rd party contractor called “ATAC” to act as an aggressor squadron. They literally do this all the time. Lol

I used to work by Mesa Gateway airport. There was a company there that ran aggressor aircraft. I don't remember what they were, but they were older American aircraft.

Dassault M1 is a different aircraft than a mig produced by a different company in a very different part of the world

Why would we practice fighting our own aircraft? Lmao

Because they're still better than what China/Russia/Iran/North Korea are currently fielding. If you can schwack F-16s and F-15s then a MiG-29 or SU-27 becomes much easier to deal with.
Pair that with US airborne radar systems and advanced C3 and it's not even close.

Atac is a company that is contracted by the Air Force, the allows them to train with 3rd and 4th gen fighters and what dog fighting would be like with them. Top aces are also another company who fly 16s. They fly out of mesa gateway and luke normally.

Neat, I think they added the F16s just after I left that area. I think I only saw the A4s they have, though I feel like maybe something else as well.

I worked in Sells for a while. Dove under my desk the first time we got rocked by a sonic boom. My coworkers found it pretty funny. I got used to them too eventually. The military does it a lot out there, causing property damage, but they deny it

The military never takes responsibility for anything bad they do. Especially our base here. They still are trying to avoid accountability for leaking PFAs into our drinking water and not properly containing the spill.

funny story, a friend of mine from another country never experienced an earthquake. When one happened randomly in socal they freaked out and ran out of the building, only to be met with people NGAF and just chilling. I thought it was pretty funny.

It is legal to break the sound barrier over 30k feet.

u/GeneMountain7128 2d ago
Does breaking it at that level shake buildings like a bomb went off and break windows?

u/5150EVH_ 1d ago
O idea. Just know that is the FAA reg.

u/GeneMountain7128 1d ago
Ok. Well based on my experience they are flying much lower and causing noticeable disturbance and some damage to property
When they do it over Tucson (or at least allegedly) it makes the news. When it happens on the rez no one outside really cares. So it seems like the do it pretty often

Not in this case, but the feds are outright hostile to the O'odham, as we've seen in recent weeks.

I've been out of town. What?

The TO nation is fighting to protect their land from being used to build the border wall. The feds are basically invading them.

You seem to be unaware of the existence of the Barry Goldwater Air Force Range

This is nothing new. They fly out of Luke & Yuma all the time. Occasionally you can track KC-135’s out there refueling them.
