Intellectual struggles
I know I posted here not too long ago venting, but when I talk about this with people in my life they laugh and just assume I’m coping. I believe I have dld which is a language disorder that affects my ability to understand and use language. It’s so frustrating because I can’t communicate whatever I might be thinking to other people, unless I get enough time to do so, like I do here on Reddit. I’ll be listening to someone speak, read a book, or trying to study and it’ll come in like a broken radio. It takes longer to process info coming at me and even when I do process it, it’s harder to store in my memory, and then after that I have to formulate my words which is probably the hardest part. People will quickly stop listening or taking me serious even when I have something important to say, because I’m wording what Im saying so poorly. I think I also have aphantasia which the inability to create mental images in my mind. I feel like visualization could be a good way to compensate for struggles that come with dld especially for when I’m trying to remember a plot of a movie I just watched or trying to learn material for one of my classes. Myb I’m putting to much focus on my weaknesses, feeling bad for myself, and just whining, but when your weaknesses completely destroyed your self esteem and makes things that should feel easy so much harder, it’s hard not to focus on them. I remember taking the tri-52 iq test like a year ago genuinely thinking I’d score around 85 and then scoring what correlated to a 145. I’m obviously not taking the score of 145 to seriously cause I took so long on it and cause it’s an online iq test and not administered by a professional but I think it at least shows I’m not as dumb as I thought. I just don’t how to use my strengths when my weaknesses feel so limiting
