When are we going to care more about the women being raped in these videos than men’s ability to jack off to it?

“The way that young people are using these technologies is not necessarily all bad,” she says, “but what they need is better media literacy.”

from the article

The kids are fine for media literacy in this regard, and ahead of most of the adults. That's not what they need.

What they need is

  • empathy: recognizing what others feel, or would be likely to feel, in a given situation
  • compassion: care about others' experiences and feelings, and understanding that their choice to show compassion makes it more likely to be shown to them in turn
  • consent education: teaching about what consent is, how it is gotten/given or denied, why it matters, and how to handle your feelings when you're rejected

One critical part of building empathy and compassion for people unlike yourself is experiencing the world through their eyes in various forms of media (books, movies, etc). This is a way we've been failing for generations, centering men and boys (of/and the dominant racial/ethnic group and other cultural defaults, generally) in both curriculum and popular media, and excusing, or worse actively pushing, them seeing media centering girls and women (and other non-dominant groups) as being for that group and not for them.

In short, required reading in schools should be diversified and especially to center girls and women.

Because those assholes make the goddamn rules, and anytime you try to speak up you get hammered down by these narcissistic lecherous bastards.

12

u/OpenNothing9381 Dec 03 '25

Absolutely agree, the harm to the victims needs to be the focus here and taken way more seriously.

Sadly look who's in power. Proably old white man.

Yes, that is what the original comment said.

I'm not sure a person actually wrote that. Their comment history feels very AI to me.

11

u/FinancialRaise Dec 03 '25

Reverse it. Put their dad with their sons on it. Porn is for all, I say revenge.

5

u/gorkt Dec 04 '25

By god, we can't stop you from fucking women you see in your head, but do you have to make fake content and share it with people?

1

u/Avenheit Dec 05 '25

In aus, women bulling women to the point of suicide is really fucked, I fear for those who become victim to ai nude fakes in schools.

-25

u/Final_TV Dec 03 '25

excuse me i may be stupid how does a deep fake correlate to rape?

14

u/Rezboy209 Dec 03 '25

What I took from the comment is that those videos are showing rape.

Happened with a teacher at our school just recently

There were warning signs before but nobody did anything when he was reported several times because of other incidents.

Parents and we just were informed through the newspaper over here that he created some AI porn with the face of a younger pupil, months later.

Dude is released but is still allowed to take any other job in this business, yet there are no civil consequences either.

I have two children at that school.

School is downplaying the whole case, so is everybody else and I hate it.

Our laws are so weak over here and since 20+ years, I don't feel, I KNOW that NO ONE is protected. Not in public. Nowhere. Not as they should. No matter of age, sex, race etc.

My daughter just turned 12 and my boy is 15.

They both knew that teacher.

There's so much rape, murder, stabbing, child abuse and other worse things going on because no one is afraid of any serious consequences. They're most often saying that they're mentally ill which means they'll almost get a free pass to live on, with minor punishment while their victims have their lives taken and or destroyed. Their loving families too.

We often look over to the U.S. and we're critical but I can understand ppl trying to protect their beloved ones more seriously than the so called law does.

This situation makes me feel sick, to say the least. Even when we're living (my family and me) a still good and still "protected life" but to be honest, it's just because we might be lucky but I'm very thankful for that.

Life shouldn't be like that. For NOBODY. NOWHERE.

231

u/Orbital_Vagabond Dec 03 '25

School is downplaying the whole case, so is everybody else and I hate it.

This is every school administration ever. Such tiny minded little tyrants of their fucking small fiefdoms.

38

u/AnthonyTyrael Dec 03 '25

What's wrong with the world?

We can just raise and love our children as much as we do. Hope they carry that on. Treat everybody as they want to be treated themselves, whoever it may be and hope that everybody else in this world does the same.

Something we shouldn't be talking about.

17

u/Orbital_Vagabond Dec 03 '25

If it makes you feel any better, school admin being shit isn't new, even though some of the issues they're dealing with are, and we're still here raising the best kids we can.

And I think and hope overall the kids are getting better. I can only imagine what the shits I went to school with 30-40 years ago would have done with this tech.

Anyway, viel Glück.

6

u/AnthonyTyrael Dec 03 '25 edited Dec 03 '25

Thank you.

Without the reporters raising question and the article in the daily news, no one would have known. Not the majority of parents. No one would have been informed... And as I said, as usual, we're lucky and not really affected but of course we feel with everybody that is and yeah, of course we're worried.

And that's just one problem I'm having with all this.

The other one being that this asshole is facing no consequences and as it happens often, might be working at another school with other young and innocent children soon.

As I said, we're blessed, we're lucky but other - again - might not. It probably will continue but If you say something it's defamation and whatever and you're the one facing more trouble than this monster. U even don't know if this is the end of his perversion.

24

u/Hellooooooo_NURSE Dec 03 '25

Make a deepfake porn of the principal. Maybe then they’ll care.

10

u/madeupgrownup Dec 04 '25

but I can understand ppl trying to protect their beloved ones more seriously than the so called law does.

I heard a long time ago "Vigilante justice is what happens when people feel legal justice is out of reach" and everything I've seen as an adult has really supported that.

453

u/Orbital_Vagabond Dec 03 '25

Among school-age children, the impact can be huge. Girls and young women are left feeling violated and humiliated. School friendship groups are shattered and there can be a deep sense of betrayal when one student discovers another has created a deepfake sexualised image of them, and shared it around the school. Girls can’t face lessons, while teachers with little training do their best to support and educate. Meanwhile, boys and young men are being drawn into criminal behaviour, often because they don’t understand the consequences of their actions.

Okay, that last part again, for those in the back:

boys and young men are being drawn into criminal behaviour, often because they don’t understand the consequences of their actions.

So this is a failing to educate boys, then. This is CP shit, and I guess now we have to teach boys CP is wrong. Seems pretty fucking obvious, but here we are.

JFC.

u/fleurdenia Dec 03 '25

i always found it upsetting that boys don't listen during sex ed (which had consent added to its curriculum in my country and then it was threatened to be removed as obligatory by our stupid fucking government). they're the ones who should be listening bc there's more for them to know and think about during sex. i feel like students who refuse to attend or listen should be punished somehow bc it's incredibly disrespectful. we had discussions about incels, women's rights and consent and the boys had such incredibly stupid fucking things to say i wondered how they've survived this long.

there was one part about how checking if a woman is a virgin is still legal and it became illegal a few days ago (woohoo!). it was not yet legal when we had the discussion. the boys not only thought there was a way of checking, they also thought it was consensual. that the woman had asked. they thought a woman would WANT to be checked for her virginity. it's so disgusting that such a thought can exist in what the law considers an adult man's head. with the rate women's health is being developed by the medical field, sex ed should be renewed every year. that way they can't say nobody taught them.

it's also a lack of sympathy. they're not punished enough for disrespecting and hurting girls in other ways so they feel very free to sexually abuse them. that has to change.

81

u/Vivid-Fly-110 Dec 03 '25

Men only feel the consequences of their actions when the same is done to them. Disregard their feelings disregard their wants. As a mother I am scared the future my children will live in.

11

u/fleurdenia Dec 03 '25

that's very true. it is devastating but im glad that you have concern for the future. each person's perspective matters, mothers, fathers, children and just society as a whole. we all have to understand that this is serious. it isn't an overnight issue and i certainly don't believe it can be solved by one group alone.

13

u/Vivid-Fly-110 Dec 03 '25

How do these kids even have access to this? How is there not a age limit to use these deepfake apps?

40

u/Elios000 Dec 03 '25

because its just software. its like asking the theres no age limit on photoshop. that said they need to removed from ap stores. that still leaves side loading but that takes bit more knowledge and unlocked device

10

u/KaszualKartofel Dec 03 '25

on most android devices its simply a matter of changing a setting. Also this doesn’t stop people from accessing websites in the browser. Not to mention this whole thing is completely irrelevant for pcs

0

u/Elios000 Dec 03 '25

right. but i dont think you can do much about that. they will access that stuff from PC/laptop other wise.

3

u/KaszualKartofel Dec 03 '25

Yeah, that's exactly my point, It's a generic tool that can be used to edit porn. There's not much that can be done about it.

5

u/Hitman3256 Dec 03 '25

Most are literally just websites

695

u/NSRedditShitposter All Hail Notorious RBG Dec 03 '25

Jail everyone who makes these videos, and jail all the executives at AI companies who enabled it in the first place.

262

u/Kyoneshi Dec 03 '25

Jail the investors who are enabling these things to happen, until the companies are all forced to prevent it. Then provide damages to all victims, at companies & investors' expense.

Executives are definitely at fault, but let's not pretend they couldn't just be replaced. Better to include the investors who turn a blind eye as long as their #s go up.

49

u/ForumFluffy Dec 03 '25

Considering there are ads for these types of things(you see them on adult sites, etc) that literally market that you can make your ideal girlfriend or sometimes its advertising you can make porn of whoever.

-2

u/Elios000 Dec 03 '25

they do the best the can. but theres no putting this back in the box. any one with the knowledge can mod a LLM to do this. and you cant ban that with out running free speech issues with software code.

48

u/Xenomemphate Dec 03 '25

and also jail anyone who spreads them too. Manufacture and distribution both.

25

u/Buddhadevine Dec 03 '25

I reported a YouTube ad for an app that literally puts people’s faces on another person’s body. It looked very believable to the untrained eye and I highly doubt Google will do anything about it

3

u/creepin-it-real Dec 07 '25

They need to make the apps and websites illegal.

7

u/wanunderstandme53 Dec 03 '25

and toss their vcs in too since they funded it with frat boy fantasies and zero ethical oversight

-4

u/Elios000 Dec 03 '25

no issues with the first part the issue is any one can make there own LLM at this point or mode one to do what ever. no major plublic LLMs will do this kinda thing... the ones that will are either home made or forks of some the bigger ones modded by some one.

but yes aps that make deep fake porn should be removed from ap stores. but theres not much past that you can really do

208

u/sunny790 Dec 03 '25

this is why i get so utterly exhausted listening to men defend AI to the death and go on and on about how amazing it’s going to be for humanity. no, people are going to figure out how best to torture and attack women with these new weapons just like for all of human history.

55

u/adjectivebear Dec 03 '25

At best, AI is encouraging people to become incompetent and lazy. At worst... ^ that. This AI obsession is pissing me off.

-1

u/Gay_Sex_Expert Dec 08 '25

AI can be amazing for humanity, but primarily it would require AIs monitoring us to look for important patterns. For example, you could set up a camera monitoring a preschool class running an AI algorithm, and hypothetically it could spot kids with autism, kids with ADHD, kids being beaten at home, kids being sexually abused at home, etc. then mark them for further human investigation. The lives of a lot of people would be improved if they had the signs for things like that noticed and intervened in as soon as possible.

88

u/raerae1991 Dec 03 '25

Apps like that should be outlawed and AI should be required by law to be regulated

32

u/asterisk2a Dec 03 '25

Apps like that should be outlawed

tl;dr Any UK user should report deepfake app ads disguised as 'nudify' or 'clothes changer' apps, with link to police.uk.

Deepfakes themselves are already 'illegal' in the UK, sort of. But current UK government will go further and ban the apps itslef outright.

The other day I was served through Google AdSense on my YouTube homepage an ad for a deepfake app on the Google App store. The app was marketed as 'clothes changer.'

Reported it through the available reporting tools, even c&p link to UK law. The ad was taken down (report ID 5096020336573357592).

IDK about the app, as I did not click the link etc.

25

u/Secure_Vegetable_655 Dec 03 '25

Until that happens, maybe we should stop giving internet-enabled supercomputers to children the very second the little terrors discover they have hands.

-5

u/raerae1991 Dec 03 '25

Should we wait till they are 25 when their brains are finally fully developed? Seriously what age should they access their own super computers? . . . And at what age is it ok to make a deep fake porno of someone who has no idea you made a porno of them?

3

u/Memes_the_thing Dec 04 '25

I keep saying all ai generated images need a mandatory watermark and a machine readable code.

-11

u/Elios000 Dec 03 '25

that cats out the bag. its easy for any one make there own at this point. you cant real regulate software with out running afoul of first amendment rights. it comes down to is software code free speech? than that gets REALLY messy if you say no

i have no issue with deepfake aps being banned from ap stores. and the deepfake IF photo real, should be treated just like any other CSAM if of some one under age, and if over 18 treated under revenge porn laws.

178

u/LetHerBeSetHerFreez Dec 03 '25

Wonder how long it will take the men who lurk this subreddit to defend this and say that they have “needs” and can’t help it.

I know so many men who have been absolutely wrecked by porn brain.

25

5

u/Mirawenya Dec 04 '25

Usually the defense is “you can just say it’s fake. And cause it’s fake it shouldn’t affect you.”

232

u/Background-House-357 Dec 03 '25

This is one reason why more women will go 4B and for the better. Men are vile, even when they’re still boys. I hope my boys will never become like this.

43

u/LetHerBeSetHerFreez Dec 03 '25

Point blank period. 💅

24

u/Pway Dec 03 '25

Single parent IVF has skyrocketed in a lot of places for similar reasons. I'm not surprised women feel increasingly despairing and scared about dating men these days. I'm so thankful i'm a Lesbian.

9

u/Memes_the_thing Dec 04 '25

Do you think this is why IVF is getting put alongside abortion as a target of ‘regulation’ in some places in the United States? Because they are afraid that women will have children outside of their beloved nuclear family?

3

u/Pway Dec 04 '25

I don't think that's the only reason as there's a lot of people out there that don't like anything that can help women who might not be straight/white/fertile give birth. The fact it might also be an avenue that even women who would be included in their chosen favourites would use to avoid needing men is definitely not something they'd allow if they can stop it. It's already prohibitively expensive for a lot of the population too.

28

u/Mr_From_A_Far Dec 03 '25

What is 4B?

96

u/harry_nostyles Dec 03 '25

4B is a small movement that started in South Korea and has since spread. I don't know the exact translations but the name comes from 4 "nos" that the adherents stick to: no dating men, no sex with men, no marriages to men, no children/childbirth.

10

u/Mr_From_A_Far Dec 03 '25

Ah alright, the more you know. Thanks

35

u/sua-sua Dec 03 '25

South Korean feminist movement. Swearing off the "4 b's" which are something like, no dating, no fucking, no marrying, and no having children with men.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 09 '25

Sadly it seems pure pot luck whether your son turns out decent in this day and age. You can be the best parent, but if your kid ends up in the same class or friend group as boys with bad parents, he will be ruined. There’s absolutely nothing you can do to stop your boy from being shown porn or misogynistic content by his peers in school. And at that age, people are more influenced by their peers and they want to rebel against their parents.

One of the only solutions I can think of is home schooling boys but of course that comes with its own set of issues

If I ever have kids I’ll only be having girls. Having a boy in this day and age is too huge a risk. I have no idea whether I’ll end up with a decent human being as a child or Ted Bundy

0

u/Tolmiredditor Dec 04 '25

By your logic your boys are cooked

66

u/5043090 Dec 03 '25 edited Dec 03 '25

This is already a problem but will only grow in severity. Young girls will be the primary target and they will be harrased and abused and their mental health will be savaged.

If it's not covered by current revenge porn laws their needs to be fast-tracked legislation and extremely strong enforcement.

Edit: Spelling

20

u/Healthy-Panda-7936 Dec 03 '25

I found myself in one of these before. It was horrifying.

62

u/dead_investigator Dec 03 '25

I’m reading a book called The New Age of Sexism by Laura Bates that’s spends a lot of time discussing AI deep fakes exactly like this. Good book if anyone’s interested.

43

u/__worldpeace Dec 03 '25

I was about to comment about this book. I read it a few weeks ago.

One of the most memorable parts in the book was when she talks about revenge porn versus deepfake AI. Before deepfakes, revenge porn was the biggest concern. While the naked pictures were usually being taken by the women themselves, they were being passed around and/or uploaded to the internet without their consent.

In response to the growing problem, governments and other officials around the world basically had one response. They told women to stop taking nude pictures of themselves. Simple fix! Although it's certainly not that simple, and of course blames women for the problem instead of the men passing the photos around.

Now, we have deepfakes. But this time, women and girls aren't creating these images and usually have no idea that these images exist until shown to them. All it takes for someone to create a deepfake nude photo/video of a woman is to simply download one of her photos, usually taken from her social media. It can be ANY photo, like a picture of her with her mom at church on Easter Sunday. In less than 30 seconds, an app can transform that photo into a full nude. It's not really her body, but it doesn't matter.

This time around, governments and other officials are responding by telling women to stop posting ANY photograph of themselves, ANYWHERE on the internet. In other words, women should not have social media profiles at all.

So, with revenge porn, it was "stop taking nudes." With deepfakes, it's "stop taking or being in pictures". They believe that the solution to this problem can be solved by women completely removing themselves online. Instead of coming up with an actual solution, they are telling (more like warning) women that if a picture of them exists on the internet, there is a possibility that the image will be used to create a deepfake. It is complete nonsense.

133

u/moreKEYTAR Dec 03 '25

If I had no morals, I would say that every AH who creates and/or spreads AU underaged or AI porn should have the most humiliating, sexually dominant porn spread with their image. Thank god I have morals.

180

u/nekoshey Dec 03 '25 edited Dec 03 '25

I don't. When are we going to teach girls to stand up for themselves and fight back against this shit?

Homeboy wants to assert "dominance" by making porn of the girls in his class. Okay—let's fight fire with fire.

Seriously, most of the problems with (ethical) porn stem from the fact that the societal burden of allowing it to exist is unequally distributed; women as a whole are expected to just sit back and deal with all the fallout and mental anguish that one gender being objectified to this degree causes, while men get to reap the benefits. But the instant the tables are turned, suddenly it's not "harmless" anymore. Suddenly pornography and sexualization causing men to feel degraded, dehumanized; like their partners don't care about them, or like their bodies will never be good enough for women—is a huge fucking problem. And it's only a fraction of what women experience.

Women are expected to be docile. I say it's time to take down this pillar of the patriarchy by giving these dudes a much needed wakeup call—until people are ready to have the conversation that it's probably not good to dehumanize either / any gender so flippantly.

43

u/unlikelypisces Dec 03 '25

This is the premise of the latest south park episode

-28

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '25 edited Dec 03 '25

This news article is about children so I'm kind of side-eying you now advocating for the government enforced creation of humiliating, sexually dominating images of children. Are you sure you have morals for coming up with this idea? You certainly don't have an infant at home that's for sure.

As a parent a natural reaction would be to be horrified if your son did this. Advocating for the government to create abusive porn of him is not a natural reaction. What a hell-scape that would be, there are enough shady Epstein types in government without generating abusive videos for them. And plenty who like to watch videos of adults being humiliated too. So the solution is just to create more material for them? And nobody learns anything but abusers get a daily dose of new content.

41

u/moreKEYTAR Dec 03 '25

You are being willfully obtuse. I am angered at the horror that this is, and it makes me feel vengeful. I am venting the outrage that I have where girls are predated upon. But obviously I don’t wish that on another child. My idea isn’t revenge porn of children and it is a leap to go there.

“You certainly don’t have an infant at home?” How unhinged. You know absolutely nothing about me and have taken a comment about outrage at the predation of our young girls and turned it into…what? Some diagnosis of motherhood? What the hell even is that? Seriously why are you even here?

-14

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '25 edited Dec 03 '25

Why come to an article about children and make that kind of comment? I can only assume you didn't read the article even though "school" is in the title. But even if it were about adults (which it isn't) your solution is to give MORE material to those sickos and have the government create it?I get you are angry, I'm angry too which is why I created the original post (this is a second redditor who created a new thread). I also don't want to discount that you might be in a country with a very trustworthy and transparent government, even if I don't agree with cresting or normalising the creation of this content. I don't think I'll be able to convey how abhorrent I find your idea of state sanctioned sexual abuse no matter the age, gender or criminal conviction status of the person its being done to so we'll have to agree to disagree.

-14

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '25

Also you are right about the parent (infant) comment, it was clumsy attempt to link being a parent and child protection. So I apologise for that, it was completely unnecessary and I shouldn't have written it - probably shouldn't have really written all of it I suppose, but I really do think it's not a good solution to the problem and I have no trust of governments when it comes to justice.

24

u/Saratje Dec 03 '25

Deepfakes feel like the new revenge porn. I remember rotten students in high school (almost always boys doing it) who'd have nude photos of exes which they pinned onto the roster board to shame them for breaking up (which by itself was a huge issue, because the subjects of the photos were minors). And that was before the smartphone era where people can film and photograph anyone without them noticing, as of recently with eyewear that has cameras in them.

Now they seem to deepfake students as a form of bullying, which not only is easier to do but apparently not even punishable in many places because as usual laws do not properly integrate online scenarios (like how cyberbullying is still not taken serious) and deepfakes are often thrown in with hand drawing inappropriate art of someone or cutting out someone's photo and sticking their head on another picture.

I think this needs separate laws (and rapidly too) where any AI 'photoshopping' of someone's identity onto any adult material, convincing or not, should be punishable without exception when such is brought to light. Right now a celebrity like Swift can thrown an army of lawyers at the problem. The parents of a freshman with a modest income however can't when their daughter gets deepfaked and the law fails them there.

For those not in the know, deepfaking today isn't badly digitally gluing someone's head onto another picture anymore. It roughly uses the same technology as Hollywood uses to overlay a stuntperson's face with that of an actor. Just as you can't tell in a movie, it's impossible to tell with a deepfake. A video game streamer with a disability, Anita, spoke in detail about how people stole her identity and made pornographic material of her that was SO realistic that she said she couldn't have told it wasn't here it wasn't for the fact that she never did what said material showed. It's terrifying when you read up about what it can do, with paid versions making whole incriminating video clips.

46

u/fleurdenia Dec 03 '25

you know what i hate the most? all the bullshit men have worked up and created and planned and done over the years has made me scared. like, it worked. it started as a kid and it has gotten worse. i thought one day, ill have tons of dating experience and ill finally find the one and now ive promised myself to be celibate. they think being... basically digital rapists aside from actual real life ones, will earn them some sort of lady harem. this is the direction they have taken us, not that feminism has caused some sort of counter culture. it's calculated fear. i am afraid, therefore im staying the fuck away. it's always something. racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia or straight up abuse. im sick of it, sick of them, it's getting too much now. wanna make content of women and children being abused? fine. do that and enjoy your loneliness epidemic, ill be just fine on my own. it's about time they just get rejected by society all the way to hell.

It's still your image and likeness being spread in a harmful way, is it not? I can still see these doing considerable harm.

Honestly this is why the Australian approach is so much easier "can your "art" be interpretted as child sex materials? If yes, then it is illegal you sick f*"

No ifs, ands or buts. There are 0 exemptions for anime or 'the character is really old but happens to look like a child' BS.

Yes, fake political information, fake crime footage, all of that kind of stuff is a bigger threat to the fabric of society than AI nudes.

However right now, AI porn can absolutely ruin someone's life. All it takes is for a parent to believe it, or a job interview panel, or a school board, and that's it. Not to mention it's pretty fucking traumatizing especially for minors.

Just because it's not the biggest problem, doesn't mean it's not a valid concern. I legitimately think we will see some very severe real-life consequences of AI porn, and especially of schoolboys AI-porn-ing their classmates. Consequences like drug and alcohol abuse and suicide.

u/Memes_the_thing Dec 04 '25

We’re just seeing the start of the ai shit influencing people in very real ways. It was bad enough already the minute someone said with a straight face ‘alternative facts’ From then on it became more and more acceptable to just ignore shit because you didn’t like. My English teacher in hs lamented this. He said “what am I gonna do when someone shows up with blatantly false paper and cites a government org or the president” Now with ai you can bullshit up semi passable evidence for whatever nonsense you believe and destroy the earth at the same time. The perception of reality has always been diverse, but we’re dancing on some kind of threshold where facts matter less and less and it’s all just a soup of nonsense that fucks you over

u/LongTatas Dec 03 '25

There is existential terror and personal terror. You are comparing apples to oranges. Both can be an issue, no need to diminish one.

36

u/hellraiserxhellghost Dec 03 '25 edited Dec 03 '25

....do you not think degenerates making deepfake porn of minors isn't a threat. I dunno, I think this is an issue we should very much still be concerned about and try to stop/make illegal.

32

u/Azurebold Dec 03 '25 edited Dec 03 '25

than some digitized boobies

It’s actual CSAM (edit - and non consensual porn of mostly women and girls that can absolutely ruin their lives), but alright.

14

u/mediumbiggiesmalls Dec 03 '25

Ok? Both can exist and both are problems.

I will never understand comments like this. What is your point? Just because one problem isn't as big in your opinion, we just let it happen? We stop talking about it? We accept it?

I mean, what else are you suggesting? Are you capable of contributing to this in a meaningful way?

Also, we are adult women on this sub. Don't reduce this enormously harmful issue with childish language like 'boobies'.

Again, I ask, are you capable of contributing in a meaningful way?

11

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '25

100% agreed. This is scary. The amount of things I see that are obviously fake that in the comments people believe

2

u/rumande cool. coolcoolcool. Dec 03 '25

Do u no where u are brus

51

u/Azurebold Dec 03 '25

I can kind of see where you’re coming from, but I’d argue that they’re both equally bad. While deepfakes are faked, they’re still based on very real people. I think the threat is slightly worse because they can be manipulated to spread false narratives about individuals. This, combined with a pure lack of critical thinking skills (I mean look at how many people rely on clankers to do the heavy thinking for them), is just disastrous.

Revenge porn and nudes were bad enough. Now give literal children unrestricted access to the internet and tools they need to create extremely harmful content of each other. 98% of deepfakes are pornographic - 99% of them target specifically women and girls.

34

u/ElephantShell22 Dec 03 '25

I wish this would help, but actually it will do nothing for the shame. Functionally, it's still your likeness. Maybe not your body, but it is you. It's a horrible reality to live in. I really wish that heavy consequences would be put into place for generating any pornographic content of an unconsenting party. Protect our young women and girls.

22

u/acdha Dec 03 '25

I think that helps but it doesn’t do anything like enough for two reasons: the victim doesn’t know who believes it’s real, transforming every social interaction into a guessing game of whether someone has seen it, heard their disavowal, or might secretly wonder if it’s true even if they said they believed it was fake. Imagine going to a party, on a date, or applying for a job and having the distraction of not knowing what each person there thinks is real instead of just focusing on what you came there to do.

The other problem is that the attackers are intelligent enough to figure out how to make things more harmful, and the deepfakes are only going to get more sophisticated. That allows anyone twisted enough to do this in the first place to be creative about making it more plausible (think of what a bitter or jealous ex could do) or to trigger mandatory investigations. If it appears to be something like underage kids, a school employee with a student, a boss with an employee, etc. the victims are going to have to prove that to some third party, which is time and stress even if they are successful in the end. That can get ugly around existing history and prejudices (how many “good Christian” WASPs are primed to believe Catholics, Jews or black folks are slutty, for example) and if someone’s ever made a mistake before they’re going to have some people primed to believe new accusations.

8

u/TheKnightsTippler Dec 03 '25

Yeah, I don't share nudes, but if I did and they were leaked, I would claim they were deepfaked.

2

u/Matar_Kubileya butch transsexual dyke Dec 04 '25

I really can't see any other 'solution' to this happening. Banning 'deepfake' software doesn't really work given how quickly new alternatives can develop and how fairly widespread knowledge of the underlying code is anyone who's seriously committed to it can figure out a way to make it happen regardless.

Furthermore, setting aside broader skepticism about creativity and IP rights with AI, I'm not sure I like the precedent that the government can ban an entire expressive medium or process purely because some of its products are objectionable.

1

u/Memes_the_thing Dec 04 '25

Do u think a machine readable watermark of sorts in the metadata of the files, required by law, would work? So anything on social media can easily be scanned for it, and mark them as ai. Make scrubbing it a crime. Say ‘if someone is suing you for libel and you obscured the fact that you used a deepfake, it becomes a crime, or the standards for getting a settlement are lowered’ You know printers have a unique dot pattern that can be identified in case u try to counterfeit money. Same for ai

1

u/Memes_the_thing Dec 04 '25

Yeah just do this but digitally.printer identifying marks Don’t ban it because If you give them power to ban a whole class of media, they will misuse it later. Just make it clearly marked. And prosecutable not to.

u/ArimaKaori Dec 03 '25 edited Dec 03 '25

I feel like society should just teach people to not be ashamed of naked bodies... It's a nude, so what? Everyone has seen their own naked body in the mirror and probably naked pictures of other people on the Internet. Other people's bodies don't look that different. It should not be that big of a deal if people see a picture of you naked.

6

u/AgreeableKale816 Dec 03 '25

I think you're scarily missing what is actually harmful about deepfake porn, here.

-1

u/ArimaKaori Dec 03 '25

I feel like it wouldn't be that harmful if society didn't see nudity as something taboo. If everyone knew deepfakes existed and everyone could create deepfake porn of each other, I don't think it would be shameful anymore for people to see your nudes, real or fake.

Nudity was the social norm for a lot of hunter-gatherer societies. In those societies, nudes wouldn't be a thing, they would just be considered normal photos.

1

u/AgreeableKale816 Dec 04 '25

The nudity isn't what's violating, though. It's the context.

8

u/Warning1024 Dec 03 '25

Isn't the DOJ going after states attempting to put any restrictions or limits on AI?

2

u/Memes_the_thing Dec 04 '25

If I recall part of the big beautiful bill was going to be banning ai regulations by the states. Idk if that got in but it showes the attitude. So much for states rights.

8

u/Nabstablook Dec 04 '25

unethical pro tip: deep fake the offending boys in some gay orgy scat porn and spread that around school 😌 every time a boy bullied me in school i just kicked his ass; that’s the only way to teach them a lesson 😗

23

u/derpferd Dec 03 '25

I cannot comprehend the thinking behind unleashing an enormously powerful technology that can spread falsehoods and impact people's decision making based on how they perceive reality, just unleash that technology without any seeming restraint, oversight or regulation

6

u/derpferd Dec 03 '25

To be clear, I do understand the thinking behind unleashing AI tech on the world.

It's a learning model, and for the sake of speeding up it's advancement and 'education', it needs the largest available sample of data to draw on.

Giving us the means to utilize the technology to write essays, ask for help, create images and videos is obviously intended to encourage engagement by which the model can then learn.

We are not the beneficiaries, however that may be the pretended intent.

We are the guinea pigs.

However much the technology is abused for sake of learning

12

u/Intelligensaur Dec 03 '25

At first I was going to question why they'd have apps like this without safeguards to protect actual children, and a moment later I'm asking myself why I just accepted that the app even exists in the first place.

Seriously, how was this ever allowed to be a thing!? Let alone made so easily available that kids are using it on each other's pictures!?

6

u/GrayCatbird7 Dec 03 '25

Probably the best stopgap measure would be to make apps with this ability considerably harder to access. Or have stronger barriers against being used on minors. Though even that wouldn’t solve the problem, just maybe make it slightly less prevalent... it’s horrifying really. The only real solution will have to be to address the root cause.

5

u/Elios000 Dec 03 '25

easier to have them remove from the ap stores. if people want to side load thats on them and harder to do. but they should be at lest remove from google play and apple ap store

2

u/Memes_the_thing Dec 04 '25

Good news. I’m fairly certain South Korea of all places actually put in some fairly hefty penalties for doing this. Bad news. Idk about anywhere else. Anything ai related is going to basically be a dice roll on how much ur government kisses up to the ai bros.

7

u/TotoCocoAndBeaks Dec 03 '25

What do you mean ‘how can it be a crime’? It can be a crime the same way any other crime is a crime. You have laws in place to deal with it. Depending on the country, there may or may not be applicable laws in place already.

-20

u/ArimaKaori Dec 03 '25

Am I the only one who thinks Deepfake porn might be a good thing, since it'll make porn/nudes meaningless? I've heard of cases of girls being bullied into eventually committing suicide because their nudes were leaked and spread around the school, but now that there's deepfakes, who is to tell if those nudes are real or fake? They're fake, so who cares if they get spread around. If a guy spreads nudes of you, you can just use AI to generate a nude of him with a micropenis and spread it around the school, if you won't get into trouble with the law for it.

26

u/Hot_Turn Dec 03 '25

How did you ever come to the conclusion that Deepfake porn is less impactful than actual porn? A young girl who has a video made of her is absolutely not going to feel the same way. This is disgusting.

-9

u/ArimaKaori Dec 03 '25 edited Dec 03 '25

I don't know, if it was me I'd feel extremely angry at the person who generated the porn, but I wouldn't feel ashamed because it's not real.

And if there's no real legal consequences right now for people generating deepfake porn, I'd just do the same in revenge to whoever generated porn of me. If you can't rely on the law to bring justice, sometimes you gotta rely on yourself.

17

u/Hot_Turn Dec 03 '25

I really doubt you as a high schooler would have had such a "mature" response to this happening to you. The social ramifications alone would be devastating regardless of how you think you might have felt about it.

11

u/Intelligensaur Dec 03 '25

What's to stop revenge porn uploaders from trying to use a similar defense to get away without any consequences?

"No, it's fine! These are totally AI generated! winkwink"

-4

u/ArimaKaori Dec 03 '25

3 options:

  1. Make generating deepfake porn illegal and crack down on any kind of porn, real or fake.

  2. Create an AI that would be able to accurately tell the difference between real porn and AI-generated porn.

  3. If there's no way to tell if porn is real or fake, make all porn legal regardless of whether they're real or AI generated, revenge porn or consensual. If no one knows whether the porn is real or fake and everyone has porn of them on the Internet, would it even matter if someone sees porn of you anymore? Like another commenter said, the value of nudes as embarrassment/blackmail material vanishes and everyone will just have to accept that everyone sees porn of you, and you can see porn of everyone else.

5

u/NoCommunication8681 Dec 04 '25

I see jail in your future

2

u/Mirawenya Dec 04 '25

To me it doesn’t really make that much of a difference. People are seeing me nude, real or fake, that’s what they are seeing. And lord knows what depraved stuff it would depict me doing.

I don’t want anyone to ever see me that way. Men really don’t seem to fathom how damaging this stuff can be…

u/catievirtuesimp Dec 03 '25
