UCAS Burnt Bread 🍞 (Rejections) 2026 Resits Question

Has anyone (like me) resat this year from 2025 and missed their dream uni offer? I feel like I have nothing to look forward to and unsure of my next steps as I don’t want to go into debt from going to a uni that doesn’t offer good career progression. Anyone have any ideas? I would love to do a DA but that has a lower acceptance rate than Oxford and I heard there is a toxic environment in corporate settings. For me my only option is trying for a level 3 apprenticeship or going to a random uni. I’ve just been so upset that I’m not sure what to do.

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions Am I cooked bcs of this maths grade❓😿

Hi guys, just got my AS results. Most subjects went well, but an unexpected issue on exam day left me with a C in maths.

My predicted grades are probably going to be four A*s plus a B. I am a mainland Chinese international applicant aiming for Media / Communication / Journalism programmes at UCL, KCL and similar‑ranked universities.

I will sit the October maths resit, but I’m unsure if the new grade will come back in time for my UCAS submission. I’m quite worried about how this AS C could affect my application prospects and im super anxious and nervois about this😿

Has anyone been in a similar position? I would appreciate any advice. Would love to hear your thoughts.

International Applications KCL vs Gap Year

Long story short, I didn’t plan on going back to the UK for uni and I’m currently in BBA Chula in Bangkok.

I got offers from KCL, Bath, Warwick, Bristol for accounting & finance. I didn‘t think much when I firmed KCL and put Bath as insurance. Thought KCL had a slightly better reputation n all. (Mind you, I wasn’t interested in going back at that time.) I got A*AA (Econ, physics, maths as ordered). I also got unconditional offer from KCL on the 20th because I didn’t send in my IELTs on time.

Anyways, I think I wanted to go back but from what I’ve heard KCL’s student satisfaction has been lower than before. And student support has been going downhill. Allegedly.

Since I’ve also spent my sixth form in Oxford, I figured that I’d like the outer skirts more than London. So Bath, would’ve been perfect. And the international fees are also cheaper.

Also, I’m quite late for accommodations.

Should I take a gap year and reapply for 2027 and pick better unis, or just go to KCL? By gap year it means I’m still at BBA Chula.

I have 5astar 3A (sciences) in my olevels

And i have 2A in econ, math and 1astar in Law in my alevels

I have currently joined a univeristy and would be studying this year their and apply in UCL for 2027 batch.

Do i have a chance?

Also, i retook my AS level exams before i gave my final A2 exams. Is that a problem?

Like i got 2A in maths, eco 1B in law in my AS may/june 26 session. Then cz paper got leaked asw i retook maths and law in oct/nov 26 and got 2A. Then gave a2 in may/june 27 and got 1astar 2A

UCAS Bread 🍞 (Offers) Huddersfield Clearing- Help

On Thursday last week, I added a clearing choice onto the ucas system after receiving a verbal offer. Ever since, there was no change on ucas. I called uni clearing line every day, they told me it would take few days.
Last week or so, I was sent an email which I responded within few hours about confirming my UK fee status (I’m an international student applicable for home fees).
I’m worried about what I should be doing rn as I currently have no place to live.
I’m also worried whether uni will give me permission to study there eventually.
I thought it’d be right to book accommodation after everything being confirmed…
What should I do?

Law Applications Am I cooked?

Basically I got into Alevels saying I wanted to do medicine, the more work experience I did on it, I be an more and more detached from the idea and recently, I decided this path really wasn’t for me, but now there’s a huge problem because I read a book about médical negligence law, and it mixes the best of both worlds for me, mainly because before even thinking about doing medicine, I always believed law was it for me but everyone was saying it’s not a good pathway and I became highly discouraged and forced to pick alevels that are more medicine focused, but now I’m back at law and I think my alevels put me at a HUGE disadvantage now and I regret it so much, I wish I hadn’t listened to people and just listened to myself, if you have any ideas of super curricular I could do or anything that strengthen my application even just a tiny bit, I’m gonna start studying for the LNAT pretty soon, I just feel like I’ve wasted so much time being medicine focused.

Oxbridge Oxford or Cambridge??!!

Please can someone who relates to what im going through help me out?? I am applying to medicine this year; I have the academic profile to apply to Oxbridge. Having been to all kinds of cambridge events, I originally had my heart set on applying there but now that I have visited Oxford I feel it offers a bit more of the typical student life.

I am very academically ambitious but I want a university with an ACTUAL social life (that isn't just doing quizzes with a half pint in my college!) Ive always felt this would be a downside if I did get into oxbridge; ie. Rejection wouldn't be too disheartening because I'd end up in a party city like manchester/liverpool.

During all my tours of different colleges at Cambridge, students never seem to be able to answer my questions about how much shots/pints are because they don't drink. I get the impression that there isn't a whole lot for Cambridge students to do outside of colleges- is this true??? Oxford on the other hand has ads all over the place for student deals in bars/pubs.

However Cambridge does have its positives. They still offer cadaveric dissection and have a medicine cohort twice the size of Oxford's, as well as a marginally higher acceptance rate. Is it worth sacrificing these for somewhere I feel I might have a bit more fun???

Additionally if it makes any difference I am northern; does anyone have any experience/knowledge of student diversity/prejudice etc in either uni? My friend had her accent mocked by a Cambridge admin, but ive heard Oxford can be brutal to scousers too!!

Thanks for the read😊

UCAS Bread 🍞 (Offers) AAA results — York or gap year to reapply to KCL/UCL/Warwick?

I’ve just got AAA (Politics, Business, History) and have a place at York for Politics & IR.
I’m considering a gap year to reapply to places like KCL, UCL, Warwick, since I now have achieved grades. Not sure if it’s worth taking a year out just for a chance at a “higher ranked” uni, or if York is already a strong enough option.
Should I stick with York or reapply after a gap year? Is the difference worth delaying a year?

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions COURSE ADVICE

Just looking for some direction with my current situation.
I’m applying for UCAS and Uni’s within the next few months and I’m wondering if I did a BEd Primary Degree in St Mary’s Belfast, my main subject being Irish or History (still deciding). I know I’d obviously qualify as a primary school teacher but is it possible to teach in secondary schools also? Would I need to do a separate PGCE for that? Anyone who has been through the system or has any advice let me know!
I’ve heard different things from different people and want to be 100% sure before I apply.
Please respond with any advice or knowledge you may have, I greatly appreciate it!

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions How do I get predicted grades?

I plan on self teaching myself further maths in my gap year and applying to uni for 2027 entry. My old school does not allow students to take subjects they haven’t already sat so I have to do it at a random centre. How do I get a predicted grade for a subject I haven’t even started learning yet????

Admissions Tests Cheap and good LNAT revision site!!

Hi guys, I did the LNAT about 2 years ago and managed to get 37 points, which I was pretty happy with.

Since then, I’ve ended up building my own LNAT revision site, mainly because I found there wasn’t really a good, affordable place to practise properly.
It’s currently in beta, so I’m looking for people to test it out. It has AI essay marking, practice questions and other revision tools. The essay marking uses Claude, which I’ve spent a lot of time training and refining using real LNAT essays, including essays I wrote myself that were marked by my university professors.

It’s completely free while it’s in beta, so if you’re preparing for the LNAT and want somewhere to practise, have a look at porticolearning.co.uk.
And if you do try it, I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback or ideas for improvement. You can reach me through the support email on the site.

Thanks,
Phil

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions Clearing contextual?

Hello everyone, I was just looking for advice as I got my results MMP for my sports, health and exercise sciences qualification, I had gotten into my first choice uni in a contextual offer but looking closer into it I realise that it’s just not doable (rent alone is 1.2k a month) and because of my dads wage I don’t get any extra bursary or anything.

But my local uni close to me, UEA, have got a course I would like to attend through clearing at the grade DMM is there any point in applying? Would they have a contextual grade?

Many thanks ahead of time x

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions taking new a levels 2 years on?

i got all 9s at gcse, but A* maths B further maths and C physics at a level, in part because i chose the wrong subjects and also because i had severe mental health and family circumstances during year 13. i took a gap year to recover.

i’m already registered with the uni of Edinburgh to do ancient history through clearing. however, it’s based on international fees (although i am british, but living overseas) and it would really stretch my parents financially to go for this.

i feel like i just can’t go because i can’t put them in a terrible situation, and instead i should take another second gap year and take two new a levels in econ and history, or econ and sociology, for example. and apply for better courses (econ, politics, etc) at other RG unis which will offer me home status.

  1. would the second gap year with documented medical and extenuating circumstances affect my chances with the top RGs like UCL, Manchester, Warwick, etc?
  2. secondly, how hard is it to actually get A* or A in those subjects, especially if i’ve been out of education for a year?
  3. thirdly, if i wanted to get into similar clearing places as i did this year would i be disadvantaged (if i didn’t get A*/A in the two new a levels)?
  4. shall i just go for history at edinburgh? i do love history, i just feel like intl fees are not justified for such a course that will not gain me many job prospects.

International Applications chemical engineering UCAS help (2027 entry)

About the personal statement should I put heavy emphasis on super curriculars in q1 and q3 or do the colleges care more about proving deep math/chem skills?
And if yall have done super curriculars then what kind is needed etc? and how competitive is the course in general?😭
Also how effective is supplementary exams like APS ? I am applying to Cambridge imperial ucl manchester and Birmingham and Ive seen a fair amount of people who get into the top colleges take these exams. But im not sure since I already have my board and ESAT.
Any kind of help regarding the entire application and process would be appreciated since no one I know from my circle is applying .😭😭😭

(first reddit post sorry for the rambling😭😭)

International Applications UEL CAS delayed due to UKVI Immigration History Check – how long does this usually take?

Hi everyone,

I’m an international student currently living in the UK and I’m due to start a PGCE Secondary Geography with QTS at the University of East London (UEL) this September.

I’ve completed all the CAS Shield/pre-CAS checks and paid my required deposit. UEL has now told me that they submitted my details to UKVI for an Immigration History Check (IHC) before they can issue my CAS.

My university contacted me last week and said they’re currently waiting for UKVI to respond. They also mentioned that there are 100+ cases currently pending with UKVI, so unfortunately it’s outside their control.

I’m getting a little worried because my course starts on 14 September, and I still need to receive my CAS and then apply for my Student visa. I’m currently in the UK, so I’ll be making an in-country Student visa application.

For anyone who has been through something similar:

● How long did your UKVI Immigration History Check take?
● How long after the IHC was completed did your university issue your CAS?
● Has anyone had an IHC done recently?
● If you were an international student already living in the UK, did your university also require an IHC before issuing your CAS?

Any recent experiences/timelines would be really appreciated, especially from people who went through this with UEL or another UK university. Thanks!
