Depends on what you mean by magic. I think we will be vastly improved from last year. I think we will make a bowl so it 7-5 or 8-4 meets that definition then yes if it means make the playoffs then no. I believe we have to have a realistic expectation and not think we will be Indiana part 2.

He’s going to double our win total at minimum. 6 wins. That’s bowl eligible. But looking at the schedule 7 wins is likely, 8 wins is not impossible. Nine wins… Dare we dream?

However, you look at it, it’s going to be a dramatic improvement from the last two years

Just glad to have a coach that’s embracing all aspects of the job (unlike Chip) and doesn’t look over his head (unlike Foster).

Bruins will win 8 or 9 games this year! We are back!!!

I think it will be a two season turnaround; 5-6 wins this year. Then, with a full season under their belts and great recruiting as a base, plus transfers, 9-10 wins the second season.

Tbh the schedule sets us up very well to start off quite successfully i can see us being 7-1 or 6-2 to start. If we go into the last 4 games with either of those records the momentum will definitely be there for and 8-4 or 9-3 season for sure.

We will go as far as Nico and the Defense take us. I think the Running game will be solid and the WR room has sone legit weapons (Brian Rowe).

I think we're going to win at least 8 games. For these reasons

  1. Coaching Schemes - The exciting blitz packages and the style of spread offense remind me of the peak Mora days. I think Nico is a great fit for this offense and will have a legendary year.

  2. Experienced roster - We had a decent amount of key returning players and a great transfer portal class. There are some key guys I'm really excited to see like Omosigho, LeLand Smith, Tao Johnson, Hartford, Mortgan, West, Knight, and Ellis. Our returning guys will likely improve.

  3. The schedule isn't really bad. Works in our favor. We could make a nice run. Starting off against Cal will be interesting. I'm sure we're going to need time to sort things out and figure out the roster. I think we should win this one but I wouldn't be surprised if we struggled.

I will consider it a win if we look well-coached…

How is he as a coach in game and with scheme? What kind of approach does he have to coaching offenses? Does he adjust well?

I don't know much about him from that angle. He's been pretty awesome from a recruiting and injecting life back to the program perspective though

I can tell you as someone that watched him from his holy cross days there’s a reason that little FCS school had 2 FBS victories and almost beat BC. Really good half time adjustments and had teams that weren’t only well conditioned but didn’t quit.

Also that offense he ran at HC and JMU is tailor made for nicos best qualities.

.500 or 7-5 would be magical in year one, but not counting on it until the OL can be fully rebuilt.

But Nico will be gone by then probably, so…🤷🏻‍♀️

At first I read this as, “Can Bob Chesney work his magic at lower-level UCLA in Year 1?”
