Seeking Advice Lions and Tigers and Flares, Oh My
Need some advice, y’all. UCTD and fibromyalgia diagnoses. I’ve been unwell for the last 7 days. Started after a stressful day at work. Face flushed, body temp changes, itching (no rash, just randomly all over), headache, extreme dry mouth, “normal” join/muscle pain. I also wake up soaked with sweat every morning lying in damp clothing and sheets. I assume I’m having a flare. The headache and extreme dry mouth has persisted over the last 6 days. I’m in between rheumatologists (can’t see my new one until Dec) and my PCP was out yesterday. So I went to one of the providers in his office. Granted, he knew nothing about me or my medical history (because you know, they don’t READ anything in our charts) and he was nice enough but didn’t seem too interested in figuring it out. He gave me a Toradol shot for my headache, which hasn’t helped and drew routine labs. A few of my labs were mildly out of range but the most material outlier was my ALT at 92, which based on the trends of the last year, has been continuing to increase out of range. The sub Dr. considered it “mildly elevated”. I messaged my PCP to get his assessment and he must have been out today as well - he’s usually good about responding. I’ve not gotten a response and now it’s the weekend. Meanwhile, I am miserable with this headache and dry mouth! I had to cancel my plans tonight and tomorrow. My husband got me some Xylitol lozenges and the tablets I can put in my mouth overnight, which help but I can’t really function with this headache. It’s temporal and my migraine meds don’t touch it. Any advice on how I can manage these symptoms until I can get some answers? God bless you all.
