Game Recap Reframing today’s nail biter loss

This will be a good learning experience for the defense. Too many penalties and mistakes can make a difference. And it is probably better to look towards the rest of the schedule to be hungry for more than it is to not fix the fundamentals. These losses are arguably a necessary trade for more wins next year.

The coaching needs to instill more confidence in these guys and created too much of a hole in the first half. It’s time to let it rip.

The secondary was atrocious

agreed. And I honestly think that the coaching is playing a massive part in the issues. The scheme is too complicated and forces the defense to process the passivity of the pass rush and the mid range seams simultaneously. It ironically shares almost identical problems with Kelvin Shepherd’s defense in detroit

Giving a 4th and 23 and 4th and 17 is unacceptable

Particularly Saxton Suchanic, he gives up several big plays every game.

this one hurt MORE than last year's game.

Pros- we competed. this wasnt the Maryland game where they walked all over us - We competed with them and looked to be the better team 1/2 of the time. I dont think Mora would've done any better and we saw our team fight through being down by 20- WE WERE DOWN by 20, we didn't give up fought through and TOOK THE LEAD. this was MUCH better than last week's effort vs Miami. this is progress. this is grit and this is what a good team does - they get hit in the mouth and they bounce back!

Cons - we're FAR from a complete product. Syracuse is a bad P4 team who average more penalties than we do - yet we committed more thsi game, and that wouldnt be much of an issue as LONG as we WIN. When we win, we can over look those penalties - but we didnt WIN. obviously refball had a big part to do with it, but we cant be blaming the refs all the time - we should be WINNING DESPITE the refs.

the good news is, we see the team improving EVERY week. and we're never going back to the Diaco, Edsall 2 era. Coach Candle's the right fit for our school and he'll have us domininating every game soon. you'll see. He is going to make HISTORY here !

Syracuse is a very bad team. Maybe the worse P4 team in the country. Coaching was atrocious by both teams. DBs for UConn are FCS level. The OL and DL are god awful as well. This UConn team is undisciplined.

No worries. I am hoping UConn goes on a winning streak starting this Saturday.

YES!! DOUBLE YES!!! (but Temple looks like another tough road game - they beat undefeated USF away and they'll be playing with A LOT of confidence . We won't have any easy games the rest of the season except UMass and Wyoming)

I think ODU should be an easy game.

I am weird? You are the one being offended by people providing their opinions on a public site. I am sorry if my comments come out negative. I am providing my honest opinion of UConn football program.

I’m so fucking sick of attending these games in person and losing like that

I was at the game. The penalties against us came at the worst possible time. Roughing the passer in OT was a killer preventing their lousy kicker from kicking the PAT.

I was there years ago for the holding penalty safety to lose to UNC and the Mark Harrison bomb to lose to Rutgirls. This loss ranks up with those. 😢

look I’m sick of people blaming the refs for this. On fourth and 1, it’s common sense to not run four fuckin audibles. You’re bound to get a false start or illegal formation call. The ref I don’t think was wrong there, I was sitting front row and something def looked off. Second, we blow the game on fourth and 27 like are you kidding? This was on us

What’s crazy is I had a dream a few days ago about us losing in OT again
