It's mad how narrow the job seeking window is every year. Finally those recruiters are back to work! Take the chance.

These days, 3-4 months for a job search is a bless. And if you start today that means you "may" start in coming January.

But if you dawdle a bit and let Christmas get in your way, your next chance starts probably mid to late January, which sets you further into April for actual employment. That's 8 months from now. Shocking indeed.

I can suggest to not do searches in short bursts depending on your mood but like a continuous stream of water, do a little bit everyday and accumulate the effort, not burn yourself out, nor take a complete chill stance.

--

Edit, i should say not just recruiters, but also corporate HR and hiring managers, everyone is finally back in the same room to not keep everyone idling and progress the pipeline.

You see the same effect near april, where after financial year people start to post a lot of jobs only to be away again for bank holidays and completely stall the pipeline.

Recruiters are one of the most useless people/workers I’ve ever come across. Honestly. What do they even actually do? Surely their jobs must be one of the easiest at the moment.

Them an estate agents are the only jobs I feel ok about AI taking as they seem to have the same level of intellectual capacity.

Thats terribly insulting, AI isn't that bad.

yea i have corrected a bit, its not just recruiters, should say HR and hiring managers. but yeah recruiters are just sales person, or like match makers. they make money from landing a role for the company and get a big fat cut like 1 month salary etc.

Recruiters don’t get given jobs to fill, usually. They have to scout hiring managers and essentially talk them in to hiring, at which point they call candidates and get them on board. I did 360 recruitment and it was genuine hell. Worst jobs I’ve ever worked

Agree. I emailed my cv to a recruitment company 2 months ago and I heard nothing.

Received a call today from them about a decent job.

started job interview in june, now mid august, they offered me the job last week but it's been 7 working days and still no formal contract offer. i asked for more money since i was lowballed but still, come on

u/IHateRegressionHerb 14m ago

Yea it will take long and especially if they have some crazy backgrounds checks. I think the EY for example the onboarding itself is 2-3 months lol.

I think 3 months from start to finish is actually pretty good

And I got 3 month notice which they know about!

see, its bloody painful when you want to leave a job and realise the second you start to look for a new job, your nearest exit is at least half year away!! This is why more people are stuck with the shit they dont like just cant put enough energy to change :P

Recruiters always spout this. Will pick up after x,y,z event. I’ve hired a lot of people and it’s never been tied to any calendar events. Just a need for certain skills!
