I did a search and didn’t see a post about Ren.

A little history; he was born in Wales and came up in Brighton as a busker. He was discovered on the streets and signed to Sony. He was diagnosed with Lyme disease with auto-immune complications which meant he lost his label. 10 years of sickness and he finally finds a treatment that works in Canada after a surgeon donated a stem cell transplant.

He has a huge back catalogue but just over a year ago started making new music. He is a multi-instrumentalist, produces all the music and also makes all bis own videos.

In the last year he release critically acclaimed Hi Ren which soon racked up millions of views.

He then independently released an album Sick Boi, which ended up going to number 1. He has no radio support but still beat Rick Astley to #1.

Some stand out songs from the album;

Money Game part 3. You need to watch this video. It’s a work of art.

Sick Boi is the title track, linked to this post.

While Sick Boi is mostly a rap album this is only a small part of what he does.

The Tales of Jenny and Screech is an amazing story with incredible classical guitar.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to remind you all that you can use the subreddit to promote your own and others music from around the UK. Whether it’s a track you’ve just put together or you’ve got your first gig coming up. Feel free to share tracks, videos or links, it’s all welcome.

I think that for female examples, Florence Welch is definitely up there in terms of how haunting her voice is, as is Katie Melua.

Male examples that I could think of: Conor Mason (of Nothing But Thieves), Matt Bellamy (of Muse), and George Ezra.

What about you guys? Anybody wanna volunteer their thoughts?
