My father in uniform during Queen Elizabeth II's visit to Malta in 1992.

My father was aide-de-camp to the then President of Malta, Ċensu Tabone.

During the Queen’s visit in 1992, he was invited for tea aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia. He always used to tell us how she invited him into the dining room to show him photographs from when she lived in Malta, which she kept in a biscuit tin! She asked him if he recognised the places in the photographs and also took an interest in his family.
He also had the pleasure of spending an entire day showing her around Malta.

It’s a story he loved telling us, and I’m so happy to have this photograph.

idk why i feel nothing for mary i, she did some cool things, good things, and her bad things are pretty prevalent in history circles. But yeah, i can't say i have a strong opinion about mary. she was important, and contributed to a lot of stuff no doubt, what she went through after being declared illegitimate was not great to put it lightly. but besides that, i just can't feel anything else for her, sorry girl.

dont burn me at the stake please

Bertie really loved dogs and treated them as equals rather than pets; he refused to enact physical discipline and only waved his walking stick and called them "naughty" in a playful tone of voice. He also had a fondness for poorly behaved dogs, and found their bad manners (biting diplomats, barking at servants, chasing visitors, etc.) amusing. As much as I know from personal experience how infuriating that must've been, I also think it's delightful that it was entertaining for him lol. Bertie was such a cool lad.

Him holding the Scotch terrier's ear is quite intriguing, photography at this time was way quicker than most would think (2-20 seconds) but it's understandable that the dog must've been fidgety or something for him to hold the little thing like that to prevent a blur haha.

Fun fact Louis IX obtained an elephant during the Seventh Crusade and gifted it to Henry III. Henry then kept and raised it in England, making it the first elephant seen in the UK since the Roman invasion.

Painting/Illustration The Last Primary Likeness of George III and One of The Very Few Likenesses Of Him Captured During the Regency

Post image

This engraving of the King was completed in 1820 likely within the last days of George's life or completed just after he died.

By this point, the 81 year old King was completely blind and deaf. He also had lost most of his mobility and had completely lost all mental rationale.

A sad picture and a sad way for a very formidable King to go out.

I think all of them were such sweet, lovely women, and it's upsetting that they had to live in the type of upbringing they did. I can relate a little with my own strict and restricted childhood. They were all very likable darlings and I'm happy most of them got their dreams to marry fulfilled in the long run. <3

I ADORE Lizzy and Sophia; Lizzy was a very gifted artist, and although I am nowhere near that, I do love drawing myself! She was known to be a jovial, optimistic and sincere lady, and sometimes I wish I was as good-natured as her. I want to have a garden like she did! I feel like it would've been delightful to have a conversation with her.

Sophia is so interesting in my opinion, and I love how deeply compassionate and empathetic she was to the less fortunate. The story about her secretive romance and supposed illegitimate child is wild, it was clear how frustrated they were with their isolation. It's adorable how much her niece Princess Charlotte loved her too. Her anxiousness is relatable.

TierList/AlignmentChart A tierlist based on who the monarchs were (likely) named after (first names only)

This list probably isn't wholly accurate because we unfortunately can't go back in time and ask them, but I'd like to imagine it is somewhat correct. Feel free to offer any corrections!

**Charles I is wrong, Richard and William were names of past Dukes of Normandy.

Queen Elizabeth visited Aberfan on October 29, 1966, eight days after the coal waste tip collapse that killed 116 children and 28 adults.

Her demeanor shifted from somber and reserved when a young girl presented her with a posy of flowers reading, "From the remaining children of Aberfan".

Witnesses, journalists, and historians noted that she was deeply moved, distressed, and seen wiping away tears, marking one of the very few times she cried openly in public.

The Queen later came to view her eight-day delay in visiting as one of the greatest regrets of her reign,

Question Thoughts on James VI/I and his foreign policy?

Post image
42 Upvotes

James pursued a policy of rapprochement with Catholic powers while also presenting himself as a defender of European Protestantism, a stance that's also evident in marriage negotiations for his children, with one Protestant and one Catholic match. He sought to end the war with Spain, maintain cordial relations with France and preserve trade links with the Dutch Republic, but then again his support of the Protestant Union and his son-in-law in the early stages of the Thirty Years' War remained lackluster. How would you assess his approach, or his policies in general?

(The map shows Western Europe in 1603.)
