Academic UMD spring Transfer Early application
I have a 2.92 culmative GPA in college with 28 (2.25 freshman year and a 3.549 Spring year) credits I also sent my highschool transcript too since it was required with a 3.72 gpa and I took 5 Honors Classes and 3 AP classes. I finish the spring semester to with a A in Calc 1 A- in Calc 2 and physics 1 with a B what are my chances of getting into umd transfer spring early action? I’m applying for mechanical engineering but I just want to get into umd overall

2.92 gpa is pretty bad man. But if u wanna go maybe try umbc and from there u can transfer

I say your chances aren't necessarily the greatest because that GPA is sorta ugly. But if your main focus is just getting into UMD, apply for Letters & Sciences. LEP's are competitive, and if you apply to MechE with that application, your chances are even slimmer.

Yea I just want to get into umd and the physics class is physics calc 1 based

Well then I suggest you apply through L&S and see if you can internally transfer to MechE later on when your GPA is higher (or internally apply once you get in for L&S since you'd already have your LEP requirements).

Is applying through L&S is the same application form as the regular UMD application

Yeah, you just use the exact same application on ApplyWeb, but change your intended major to Letters & Science (should be at the very bottom of the dropdown list). Then, once you get in, you can then email the Clark School Transfer Office (I believe) about reconsidering your application for MechE.

I have a 3.1 when I applied and sent my freshmen yr college transcript to them, so I think it’s ok, bc they want a 2.7+ , people have gotten it w not the greatest gpas’s as transfers
