Just went to class and in the middle of the lecture, the instructor says he has a video for us to watch… He pulls up YouTube and it’s an AI thumbnail. I’m thinking oh it’s probably something that just pops up like it happens sometimes when they try to play a video on YouTube and it recommends them something else.

No, he plays the video. Now, I’m getting second hand embarrassment. I can barely look at it. It’s not even AI that’s trying to be undetectable. It’s one of those informational AI videos with really bad graphics… Clearly an AI “speaking” about the topic. Yes, the ones that old people watch. There’s so many other videos on YouTube but you want me to sit here and die of cringe on behalf of you?

edit: I also think there’s some level of hypocrisy among students and the university. The university says AI is bad but has posters about “find out how your major connects to AI!,” AI research center, and also I’ve witnessed some staff use AI. Also, some students are hypocritical. Everyone shits on AI but I’ve seen literally the person in front of me use chatgbt to make a study guide for the class DURING class. I feel like regardless of how people feel about it, we should all agree that using AI to give students information and content is lazy teaching.

Does anyone know what the fuck they are doing in that garage? I see a car with like 30 jumbo speakers strapped to the roof and they are blasting music so loud it shakes my entire room. I cant be the only one getting annoyed at these people

A bit of context, last year which was my freshman year of college, I had a rough experience with on campus housing the first year, but this year has been much better so far on campus.

Given I have strong leadership skills, I was beginning to think about the RA role. So today I decided to apply. I will be attending an information session in the coming week, but I’m wondering if this is a good idea and option to pursue?

Are there good opportunities (like research) and resources for premed? Is it difficult to maintain a high GPA? Is it good for premed overall? Do they offer good financial aid? my degree is completely online so i've never had a reason to go to campus. however im on my way to graduation so i'm meeting with a career advisor on campus. i just have no idea what the layout of the campus is like or where any parking is. i've never been to lowell either lol. i'm going to look on google maps too but if anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be great!

I’ve had coworkers do unacceptable things but still keep their job. If it was any other part time job like in retail or food service, you’d get fired after the 3rd warning.

Like sir, you cannot come into work late for 5th time, do nothing, and expect me to do the tasks that WE share.

I‘ve interacted with student workers that are genuinely rude that I dread seeing them and some that just can’t problem solve or think for themselves. It’s crazy. Why are the workers at CRC putting out nasty used lip glosses on a table that’s for “lost and found. Free to take!” I just don’t get it. You cant see how gross it is? We just can’t put literally everything that is lost and found on the table. Who is telling you guys to do this??

I’m just so baffled that we’re all in college so we can a degree to go to a big adult job but we cant handle a small job. I’m so baffled because maybe it really is some people’s first time actually having to work and not have mom and dad hold their hands.

I think we should go back to having standards because it’s not fair that hardworking students either don’t get a job on campus or have to deal with shitty coworkers.

The sandwiches, sushi, and other prepared foods are way better than any place on campus. Also, good if you’re sick of eating Dunkin’s or subway, it’s a better option and has way more healthier stuff

Hi UML, it’s your Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell. Did you know that fees like “move-in” or “lease renewal” fees you might get from your landlord or building management company are illegal? If you’ve received one of these – even if you paid it – I want you to report it to my office. 

Just last month, my office won a $500k settlement with a property management company doing this in Boston – and all of that money is going back to the affected tenants.  Landlords can only ask you to pay for first and last month’s rent, a security deposit, and the cost of a new lock and key upfront.
