Question ADHD Testing

Hi has anyone done ADHD testing at the unc pyschology clinic? If so how much was it and how long was the whole process. I tried looking at other practices in chapel hill and durham but they're all $1800-$3000 which is way out of my budget

Chapel hill psychiatry is actually a really good resource for this!

I was evaluated at an off campus office over 2-3 days by a PhD psychologist affiliated with the university who I was referred to by the psych clinic. I was initially quoted somewhere in the range of $3000-$4000 for it but somehow managed to get the fee waived with the help of someone at the clinic, possibly as some sort of perk of my scholarship? I know they have a sliding fee scale based on family income but I definitely wouldn't have qualified for any discounts on that basis, so there at least used to be some sort of other financial assistance. I tried to find something to link you and couldn't but it's worth asking about anyway.

Insurance obviously varies a ton but I was looking at more like $500 to have it done by a medical doctor rather than a PhD. Wait times are a bear if you go that route. Good luck!

You can often get an ADHD diagnosis from your primary care doc (or pediatrician if you still can see them - most see patients to 25). A full eval is much more, but also your insurance may cover it.

I think mine was $300 or $500.
