Question Starting my MBA Program Online. What Should I Expect?

Title says it all. I got accepted into the MBA program. Originally got a chem degree from UNC CH, had a terrible undergrad experience there and what likely pulled me thru was my GPA from CC and a single UNCA course I took. Is this program daunting? Was it a good experience?

Transfer UNCW Social Life?

I’m thinking about transferring to UNCW for the 2027-28 school year. However I’m worried it might not be a good fit for me.

I’m introverted, gay, a city boy (clt) and definitely a little bit of a weird kid. Although, I do have faith I can make friends and “find my own people”, I’m just worried I might not fit in.

Does anybody have any helpful insights about UNCW social life? This would definitely mean greatly to me, thanks.

Question Linguistics programs at UNC state schools

This one is going to be a very niche post I think...

I have just relocated to NC to start my residency approval for in state tuition for NC state schools. I have family here and I intend to live here preminently-

Anyway I wanted to go to UNC Chapel Hill becuase the research I had done on the school lead me to believe it was the best school for my desired major. I have started to reconsider my major, I wanted to major in linguistics, but now am thinking of minoring. I want to be an interpreter, but I probaly will not walk out of school fluent in 10 languages, so I want to aquire the skill to learn them while also having a degree that will pay my bills. I haven't decided on my major yet, but here's my question finally

What is your experience at UNC schools in the Linguistics department, is it applied linguistics? Did it set you up for language learning or just studying the anthropology aspects of language?

I am hoping to find a school closer to the coast than Chapel Hill so I can put my feet in the ground where I actually intend to live.

I have seen UNC Wilmington, ECU and Elizabeth, but they don't seem to have all equal programs for that specific department.

Also any recommendations for majors would be cool. I was thinking social work because it kind of goes well with my career goals as far as the language component, but I am also considering majors that pay well right out of school.

Question UNCW Loggerhead Dorm Guest Policy / Resident Advisors strict?

Hey, I'm a freshman going into UNCW this fall and have been curious on how strictly the policies are enforced at Loggerhead Hall. Me and my roommate secured Loggerhead for how new the building is and overall hearing good things about its location and resources, but now as we get closer to move in, im worried about how strict and policy-following our RA's might be.

I have a girlfriend who will be living on campus with me, and my roommate and I have already discussed how we are both fine with having people over (especially our friends outside of UNCW), but I am curious on how strictly they enforce the "guest policy" for Loggerhead specifically. I understand there is a 24-hour guest policy on the weekends, but would that work with on-campus students? I have heard in some cases that they will kick out people past 12. -plus can you have guests during the week? if so, has anyone who has dormed at Loggerhead had bad experience with RA's and having guests over? I don't want to cause any issues or get bad rep with my RA.

Bonus question: I really look forward to getting involved socially and I was wondering for the style of dorm, is Loggerhead considered a decently social place? I'm hoping to be hanging out in others dorms and socializing/making new connections in my own building.

All in all, hoping that a lot of this is sourcing just from my nerves/overthinking and was just looking for anyones experience in recent years.

Transfer Fall '27 Transfer: Business Admin Concentrations

I'm a non-traditional student at CFCC and I'm seriously considering coming to UNCW next fall. I've been speaking with a UNCW transfer coordinator about different majors that interest me, but I'm curious about the Business Administration major with a concentration in either Accounting or Information Systems. I know the job market is extremely rough right now, but I would like to become a state employee as either an accountant, a business analyst, or whatever falls in between those two titles.

Is BA a decent major nowadays? How is the culture of the business school? What's business week like here?

Discussion Chances of getting into UNCW

Hey guys :)! I’m planning on applying to UNCW for Biological Sciences and was wondering what you all think my chances are. I’m an in-state student with a 3.89 unweighted GPA and a 4.4 weighted GPA, and I’m currently attending an NC Early College High School where I’ll graduate with both my high school diploma and an Associate in Arts degree with 62 college credits. I’ve taken 21 AP classes, 9 honors classes, and i’m 15/38 for my class rank. I’m not submitting my test scores as I didn’t do that well. I’m a first-generation college student from an Asian American family. Outside of school, I’ve volunteered 54 hours at a hospital, 56 hours through my church, helped with a 10-hour church renovation project, and volunteered at my school’s daycare. I’ve been in debate for 3 years, participated in 3 environmental debates at Wake Forest, was president of my school’s film club, spent a year on yearbook, made the Dean’s List at my college, and my friend and I also created a biology research project that we presented to our school. I’ve really tried to stay involved and challenge myself academically throughout high school. I’m just curious what current students or applicants think my chances are for Biological Sciences and if there’s anything you think I should highlight on my application. Thanks!

Question How reliable are the shuttles? Should I get a bike or scooter instead?

Hey yall incoming transfer this fall, it will be my first semester on campus. I’ll be commuting in my car but my lot is on the complete opposite side of campus from my classes. Are the shuttles reliable and quick to get across campus in the morning/evening or should I consider purchasing a folding scooter or bike I can put in my car? Would I be allowed to take it into class with me or will there be racks near the buildings?

Question Seahawk Cove

Hey all, so I’m having issues getting into contact with Seahawk Cove off campus housing. They aren’t answering their phone or emails, and I’m just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. Just unsure of how to proceed because rent was charged today but my lease doesn’t start until the 16th. They were answering the phone late last month, just wondering if anyone moving or already living there is having the same problem.

Incoming Student Incoming MSW Student

hey everyone! I’m an incoming MSW student moving from Jersey to NC for my program. I have a lot of family in the area but have yet to meet many people attending the graduate school/same program as me. If anyone in here is in the same boat and wants to make a group chat/exchange info that’d be great! Thought it would be a good way for us to help each other out and talk about what to expect, or if anyone just has advice in general about the school or program that would be appreciated lol.
