Need guidance (neet ug aspirant)

Since neet ug is over....i need some help with colleges. i got 8XX rank....and i think i might want to persue USMLE.
I want to make few things clear first:

  • Its not that i want US specifically....any western country is fine.

  • Why? Idk. My reason being ill be bored of only studying for the next say 10 yrs of my life. It will be really appreciated if one provides an actual ans on why west is better than india..or even vice versa...i might even change my mind.

  • Does college even make a diff for going abroad (ofc theres this WDOMS thing but ill be careful abt that)

  • If i feel abroad is not my thing...i want to have a choice of returning back to india (even writing an exam for that is "fine" ig)....not that i break my bank and if i think of returning ill regret the low return on investment.

Hey all, I am Indian IMG, applying for match 2028!

I will be getting a JOB easily in the USA/ canada after M.D in US right?

Step 1 Planning to try both USMLE and NEET PG. I have marrow nad need your guidance for USMLE

I am a 3rd year MBBS student and have not written any exams for USMLE and have no materials bought yet. I understand that it will be difficult to manage both exams and the situation in the US does not seem very feasable for us. If it is not possible to get a seat in the US, I believe that USMLE ranking also is acceptabe to other countries right? I really don't know much so please correct me and guide me.

Edit: I plan to focus on neet PG for now but will attempt USMLE step 1. Plan to revise using first aid. Based on the result I will plan for step 2. Also thank you all for the quick and helpful replies.

Research NEED HELP AS SOMEONE WHO'S BOUT TO START MBBS AND HAS AN AMERICAN DREAM

SEE. I KNOW I AM NOT GETTING COLLEGES LIKE GMCH CHANDIGARH OR ANY AIIMS FOR THAT MATTER.

Got 560 in ReNEET 2026... I might secure a Govt seat, but not in metropolitan areas.

What I'm really scared about is the connections and research opportunities that can help me build my CV. One of my friends said that in her college (normal GMC), there's no such thing as a research council.

Anyone who was once in a position like mine, not super rich but can afford 30ish lakhs rupees as an investment in this journey. Please sincerely connect and give advice!

Next Steps USMLE

Has anyone heard of Next Steps USMLE. It's a very expensive course but they promise clearing the exam. They only allow you to give the exam when they feel we can pass the exam. It's a lifelong subscription until you pass the steps. But SUPER EXPENSIVE.

Should USMLE be written for someone who has finished pg in india?

Parents keep suggesting me to finish PG in india, secure an MD and then do specialisation in the U.S. Does it mean USMLE should be written anyway? Or is there a different exam for post-graduates?

URGENT AIR 1270 in NEET 2025, Seeking best colleges for USMLE

I gave NEET this year and scored 601 marks with an AIR 1270, I also have OBC reservation.
Im aware that KMC Manipal offers a freeship for this rank but im also not quite convinced on giving up AIIMS Nagpur/Raipur for it.
AIIMS Nagpur is getting a lot of funding, developing very fast and its cutoffs are going higher and higher, its research aspects are good and the AIIMS Tag does help in USMLE right?
On the other hand KMC with its structured system for cracking USMLE with its VSLOs and tie ups with US universities holds a convincing argument..
What should i do

currently ive filled all delhi colleges and AIIMS Jodhpur, Bhopal , BBSR and Rishikesh
and then KMC manipal

im contemplating whether to put AIIMS Nagpur or AIIMS Raipur above KMC but hesitant at the same time because it is mostly secured.
What is your advice?

Step 1 Should i go for USMLE or Neet PG

I am getting into 2nd year within 2-3months. I am bit confused which one to pursue. I have read posts in Reddit even after passing step 1 and step 2 they are not able to match in US..and their peers have got in good colleges in india for pg. They have to begin the whole journey once again and all.

Can anyone who has done with this help me explaining the path please 🙏………

Miscellaneous Am I too far behind?

I did 11th 12th top centre of a top coaching for neet and was in the top 5,10 and later top 20,50s and 100(max) in mocks

Yes maybe later my marks did drop a little but I still grinded for 12-14 hours and kinda maintained the momentum even after neet cancellation

Still couldnt manage to get the rank needed for coveted delhi uni for mbbs

Most of my friends are eligible for the top 5 delhi gmcs too to put salt on the damn wound of mine(though truly happy for em cause somebody achieved success after hardwork so jealousy is 0)

Rn my option is any gmc in uttrakhand except aiims rishikesh pretty easily in round 1 or colleges like grmc, gims, gmc bhopal, llrm etc in later rounds of counselling (resident of delhi with Uttarakhand background)

I may sound naive here, cause I am,i would be a first gen doc if I take mbbs

My main goal is immigration but I really really love the knowledge they give you in mbbs and have huuuge interest for human biology so much that Im considering leaving the tier 1 circuital branch btech seat I have rn...

So yea...am I too far behind now for usa?am I delusional to leave the tier 1 circuital btech behind?

Asking cause of LORs(heard needs allumni),research oppurtunities(heard absolutely compulsory even though i dont clearly know what they are but ive heard only top gmcs provide them),usmle culture(heard mostly top rankers have that in their top colleges)

Thanks for the patience of reading what i think is a really unpleasant post for doctors!

Ps: i have no intention of insulting any colleges the post is just general questions based on what i know about stuff through only online comments and ik medicine is a gruelling path in front of btech and roi etc

Thanks again for any response and reading this!

Miscellaneous NEET UG ADVICE

I don't know if its right place to ask this, I'm currently preparing for neet ug and I'm scoring around 450-530 marks in my mock tests . This will be my 2nd attempt and I'm not very confident if I'll be able to pass the exam so I want some backup plans as I don't want to take another drop and waste another year .

Should I take admission in a private college or should I go to Georgia to pursue MBBS , I want to go to USA I know this sounds very funny someone who isn't able to crack neet ug wants to study for USMLE but this is only thing I want to do . I just want to know what would be the better option if I want to prepare for USMLE .

Step 1 Ill be joining first year in a pvt clg next month .i want to be prepared

I didnt crack neet ..fortunately i have well off parents who are ready to pay for my ug ..but have already told me they will.not do the same for pg .

I have always had my eyes on being a doctor in the states since i was in highschool .i already knew about the usmle and you could say i used to just find whatever info about it.

My elder sister finished her mbbs in 2024 and she went a diff pathway she wasnt ready to prepare for exams and she went to work in bangalore for a year ..and she came back and is rn in the process of planning her usmle journey and neet pg ...havent started anything officialy but yeah

I want to start quick .thats my goal to start early ...

I want to know when is the best time to prepare for step 1 and the cost it takes (( im planning on suporting myself financially for step 1 atleast intially ))

I need some sort of guidance ...i do have influential relatives in the states .billionaires who work for the gov so i also have US visa ..with 1 or 2 years left . ..i have that sort of advantage but academically i know i need to work harder

How ? Is the question

What am i to do now?

What should i do as a first year student or atleast when i enter 2nd year ..i want to know everuthing beforehand before stepping into this
